Nice Calendar
However, every morning I'm seeing a message popup error
Yeah, no tech support I know... But I'm guessing a firewall or port issue.

Well I don't know about Other User's but my TimeBell 13 said it was currently Winter.

Yet I'm currently suffering mid thirties (celcius) in an outrageously hot Australian SUMMER

This program looks as though it needs a very great deal of fine tuning or development. I'll probably look elsewhere

Can this be used to put a Win7 computer into sleep or hibernation mode at a certain time, then wake it up at a certain time? I need to have this happen daily.

If this won't do it, any suggestions for alternatives?

I know some BIOSes support this function, but the one on the machine in question does not.

DD, I haven't used this software in a while but I believe it can be setup to do that.

BUT : You don't have to install anything to do what you are wanting to do, with Windows 7 or any windows you can schedule your PC to do those things. Here's some quick info. on how to do that. Hope this helps.

It looked like a good program. An improvement I'd like to suggest is to make the repeat options more flexible, like offering 1.weekdays/weekends only 2. every Su, Mo, Tu, We, Th, Fr, Sa 3. every 2nd Fr 4. Every two weeks 5. end dates

I am looking for a software that can pop up a window at a particular time and day on my computer to remind me of something.
The problem I am facing with Wise Reminder is that it does not display the full message in the window and you need to move your cursor to the heading to read the full message.
Please suggest any freeware.

Gagan, I use Google's Calendar for all my reminders. They are on all my PCs, my phone and my Fitbit. I have no excuses not to do something... as long as I have it in the calendar.

Gagan,
For over ten years I've been doing this with a tiny freeware program called "ATNotes". It can be hard to find now (it's archived on http://www.downloadcollection.com/atnotes.htm). I have it running even now on Windows 10 Professional. It is mean a screen version of the yellow sticky notes, but you can set alarms for every note and it will hide them until the time and date you set, then pop them up. It's not the flashiest program you can get, but it is incredibly light on resources and it just works...

TimeBell is certainly a great tool. But I already have the perfect solution for all my needs since more than a decade now. It's the freeware UK's Kalender. Small in size and memory footprint (3 MB RAM) it offers all the bells and whistles you could imagine from a calendar/reminder. It comes with 13 languages.

Your post is reminiscent of Giovanni except there is no download on that page. Nice screenshot, but no way to download. Makes it hard to try it out.

Diana, thank you for the hint. With the deep link the navigation sidebar is gone. Please try the homepage: ukrebs-software.de/

Here's the direct download link:

There's more to download, e.g. a portable version and a holiday generator. So I recommend the homepage.

Bobby, UK's Kalendar looks great, reminiscent of Peter's Alarm Clock which I used until I could no longer (Win 8 killed it). Perfect for someone who does not need in a cloud for mobile usage.

Bobby, Ashraf and Giovanni were excellent resources, and before them there were several others. Your guess is as good as mine but their withdrawal may have something to do with the last changes of format of GAOTD and how they offer contests, short-term licenses, maybe changes in activation processes or other issues users comment on .

Reply   |   Comment by beans  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-2)

beans,
I think you hit the nail on the head. I think their recommendations to better free alternatives was costing GAOTD money. So if any one of you guys are out there looking in "contact us" in another form.

Dennis, Hi,I used this download link for kalender to download. When I click install,my PC popped up window saying 'if you install,it will change my configuration to my PC and I would have to change configuration to all my installations'.I am not a PC savvy so will this harm my PC if it change configuration to all my installations on PC? Thanks in Advance.

To anyone using UK Kalendar:
Do yourself a favor and set a reminder to export the calendar/todo database every now and then - especially if you have recurring reminders.
I've been using this great little program for quite a few years and for some reason the database was deleted twice (nowhere to be found). The first time was a disaster. I was prepared for it the second time - you don't have to tell me twice.
Other than those two instances, it has performed flawlessly.

Hi - it took me a minute to recall the message you saw. It has to do with networking. If you're not going to use the program on a network, disregard the message and install it as you would any other program. I hope that helps.

Cheers,

Dennis

Yeah, most of you just need to use your clock app on your smartphone or just Google calendar properly. The thing that sounds the most interesting is the way it can start a program or web page at certain times.

Kacey, I agree... I may try this free offering on my desktop later today to have it open programs that I need and should be using, instead of hanging out in my browser wasting time surfing. If only it could also do my work for me.

As stated below, even though I use a simple reminder program, this looks very useful to me and will be giving it a try.

Installed and registered on Windows 7 Professional. Had some security popups, but closer inspection with security tools found no issues. Took a quick look around and seems like will meet my needs for shutting down or hibernating at the end of the day, when I frequently forget to do so. I like the addition of an address book; various PIMS and other software, as well as multiple computers leave me with stuff scattered all over the place. This looks like it could be a good place to start placing them.

How is it possible to release such a bad product ? Nothing works as expected. For example, the text in the countdown windows is never correctly refreshed, and the new time is written over the old without erasing it first. Furthermore, the default font color is white, almost invisible on the light grey background. The result is that nothing is visible !

There are free alternatives that work much better, like Rainlendar Lite. (And no, the Windows Task Scheduler is not a good alternative, because it is difficult to create a new task, it cannot simply display a reminder, it requires administrative rights...)

I tried creating a task, and it reminded me of the task on two different time i had created it. Its pretty good, but the only bad thing i found out was once the task or the reminder was displayed the program deletes the note and there is no other way to recover it (But you could create a backup of the note or the task that has been fed before, pretty robust.). Besides that it looks kind of a ugly and plain, but does the work, that's what i look for in any software.
Although i like it, only time will tell how long i'll use it.
Thank you.

Hello everybody! I would need a similar program like this but with a VERY small memory footprint. The only feature I would need would be a pop-up window with a definable text, that opens up at a certain date/time. Nothing more. Anyone can recommend something to me? Thanks!

Reply   |   Comment by M. H.  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-14)

M. H., I believe that you can do this via the task scheduler built in to Windows. Google Lifehacker and task scheduler.

M. H., I use an excellent free program called Free Countdown Timer. Very small footprint; allows recurring event; you can customize text and alarm sounds. You can have it boot on startup or not, display floating windows or not, and I haven't found any limit to the number of reminders you can set. Have used it for years and couldn't function without it.

M. H., Like I told Gagan, Google Calendar follows me on all my PCs, my phone, my tablets and my Fitbit. Can not go wrong with it, as long as you have everything you need to be reminded of entered into it. Very easy to use too.

anon, I appreciate the convenience of Google syncing across various devices; on the other hand, some of us (me included) prefer not to use the cloud at all. As recent events have shown, everything is capable of being hacked, and I prefer to keep as much private and under my control as possible.

Reply   |   Comment by KG  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

KG, I don't use it for anything that is private. Anything private in any cloud should be passworded at the very least.
