When I do a driver check (using Dumo), I get the message: "Server error. Please try again later." What's wrong? I tried it (hours) later - still this message.
- &: Is Dumo included in this giveaway?

What does it want for a NAME? My name, my email, Sumo Pro 5.3.7 are all rejected. I have double, triple checked that long numerical license. What do I do now?

Denis DellaLoggia, you have to use "GiveAwayofTheDay" as licence name.

Kyle, Nothing works!! This is a bogus GAOTD

Denis DellaLoggia, What ?

Reply   |   Comment by Kyle  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Denis DellaLoggia,
Try unzipping the two files inside the zip you downloaded. One is the setup.exe
and the other is the Readme.txt file. Before you do anything, after downloading,
read the Readme.txt file first. It will save you a lot of headaches.

Seems to have a link to dumo, but no registration there

Sumo, has many updates, but the ones for giveawayoftheday, since they are free, don't update since you will erase your current license.

Beyond this, pick and chose, sometimes you do or don't want the upgrade. So a nice list to spend the rest of your life watching.

I would prefer an update function for any that I am interested in, but then that might be to involved for the software

I would certainly think twice about using this, because, as my experience shows and as they say on OldVersion.com, "newer is not always better!"

I've been using the free and excellent Secunia PSI for this purpose for many years with no problems. Tried an older version of Sumo once and was not impressed.

Aside from having to manually input vs Copy - Paste the 59 (all numbers) registration key in the readme file / trying to find the registration location - HELP Tab (Icon) - About - Registration / The program identifies all installed software (including GAOTD offered software - which may not be able to be updated depending on the program) and sorts it between Major - Minor (updates available) - OK (no updates) / Running on Windows 10

Not high DPI-aware.

On my setup, either you get a blurry interface, or you get a degraded, very thin, unreadable font, and text partially hidden in various places of the interface.

Unusable. Deleted it. (I tried the free portable version directly from their site.)

My specs : Windows 7 64-bit, 150% display with high DPI box unchecked.

Clairvaux, known issue, we are working on it.

Reply   |   Comment by Kyle  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-4)

Kyle,

Thank you. I saw a related item on your bug tracking page, but was not sure it covered exactly the same variety of high DPI problem.

To elaborate : the focused but extremely thin font is displayed when one tries to correct the issue by going to the executable, right-clicking Properties / Compatibility, then checking the box Disable Display Scaling on High DPI Settings.

This often corrects the blurriness of high DPI problematic programs, but not in this case.

Reply   |   Comment by Clairvaux  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

Kyle, Not much point in people downloading a software that you freely admit still has a known issue or is it known issues, which obviously require the Software Updating software to update it's own issues.
I think I'll pass and wait for the next version.

Reply   |   Comment by Roy  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Roy,

All programs have "known issues" ! At least when they are published by serious outfits. "Issues" keep coming up, and developers spend a good part of their time to correct them. That's the nature of the industry.

This particular problem is certainly irritating (it irritates me, and quite a few others). It's also present in quite a few programs, including much more popular ones. Including Microsoft programs.

Microsoft is largely responsible for that. Google "high DPI aware". Some very reputable Microsoft experts say this problem will never go away.

However, you might not be subject to that problem. It depends on the version of Windows you use, your screen resolution, and your Windows display settings.

Isn't there an inconsistency here? Most software offers on GOTD specifically exclude updates - as does this program.

Reply   |   Comment by tommig1983  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

tommig1983, Good point. If one updates all of ones out of date software, much of which was free must now be purchased or uninstalled.

Hi everybody!

My previous comment, last year (4 Sep 2016):

SUMO portable creates C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\KC Softwares\SUMo, where it stores six files.
I'd like to have only one folder, with all sumo files in it.

They are still there...

Thanks to GAOTD and kcsoftwares (Kyle)!

Isn't there an inconsistency here? Most software offers on GOTD specifically exclude updates - as does this program. And here you are offering a program that checks for, you got it, updates. Which again are not included with this offer.

Fantastic program! Allows to check for all program updates at once when _you_ decide. Adding an option to Uninstall a program would be great ;)

Pedro, Kyle

Only if this function can equal with the best (Revo, total uninstall, for ex.) !

For my part, I would add 1 suggestion ...:
- why not allow payment by Maestro in the shop.
... and 1 advice :
- be selective when cleaning Sumo by CCleaner (improved by CCenhancer).
Thank you.

As SUMO updates almost weekly this Pro free trial period is very short. Not worth bothering with. The free version works fine.

Reply   |   Comment by BillK  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

BillK, This giveaway is for 5.3.x
All 'weekly" update to 5.3.8, 5.3.9, ... will work BUT, furture update to 5.4 or 6.0 will break the licence.

Good software but this version can't be updated for free....so my suggestion is to use the portable version downloadable from the developer's website (it has the same exactly features).

Reply   |   Comment by Kyle  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

Hi ajk49. :-)

Yes, just copy-paste it in the program (help - about).

Reply   |   Comment by xilolee  –  6 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

....and when I enter it in my calculater is says "overflow"....

ajk49,
Don't paste it in Excel - O.o
Why would you do that??????

Just follow the instructions which you can read in ReadMe.txt
(which you have, because otherwise you wouldn't know the registration key)

tbh: if you couldn't figure that out, maybe you shouldn't be using a computer, let alone programs like this.
fyi: 1,10E+58 is the scientific notation of the long number

Thanks to KC Software for the giveaway. As the GOTD licence specifies "No free upgrades to future versions" you may wish to consider FileHippo Update Checker as an alternative.

This is not a bad program. However I would recommend going to the publisher's site. Download the zip version which requires no installation. Put in the Registration Name and Registration Key from the readme file to make it the Pro version.

I found it, but it provides only an .exe file, not any zip file hence no readme file can be found and the installation cannot be registered..
In addition, the link given by the GAOTD does not work.

dadams, kyle, Lighter, and xilolee,
no winzip button, nor "yellow symbol below the green download button" could be found on the page.
What I found was a "portable (zip)" icon beside the "download installer" green box, but it was grayed out and does not work. I tried clicking this green box four times just to get 4 "demo_lite .exe"files downloaded!
The portable file might be unavailable on my PC.
Thank you very much for your help anyway, dadams, kyle, Lighter, and xilolee.
Regards.
