I think what you are expecting is that you can click on 1 button and have it update 10 or 20 obsolete application programs like, for example, Ninite does. Sumo doesn't work that way. In my case, for example, it tells me which of the 146 applications in analyzes on my Windows 10 PC need updating. Then you right-click on each and choose "Get Update" which takes you directly to where you can click on a link to download the current version of the application. Then you run the application update you just downloaded. The beauty of this extra work is that I know these 146 applications are up-to-date. For GOTD applications I choose the option to skip this update "For ever" so that I don't lose the licensed version of the application.

Researching online brings up many suggestions on how to stop this. If you google this, "video driver keeps updating in windows 10", it should help further. I went through all that, as I was now curious on this subject you brought up. Myself, I never have had an update issue with drivers, as I keep mine current, even though my machine is 6 years old and a laptop. Btw, I use IObit Drive Booster Version 4.2 Free (using this since version 2), and have it set to only update with certified drivers from specific vendor sites, and it has a roll back feature. Never an issue with bad drivers, or bad downloads with this driver updater all the years I been using it.

As with all other downloads, use buyer beware logic. Screen the file online (up to 128mg) at Virus Total, and a good on demand anti malware ( I use Zemana, Emsisoft, and Malwarebytes) if it is larger then 128mg.

Hope that helps, and you will now not think of jumping off that swing with your computer in despair, and breaking an ankle, and spooking kids at a playground. ;)

According to all involved, it will only work in pro and enterprise editions, not home.

This will likely seem a bit complicated -- sorry.
IMHO the potential answer depends on what's downloading the driver. If it's Windows Update, many of the graphics drivers it hosts are not the latest &/or best. In that case installing the latest from the manufacturer can help, assuming they will work OK.

If the software downloading the drivers is something other than Windows Update, you can usually tell it to stop looking for updates. If not, in many cases the trigger to look for updates is a task running in Windows Task Scheduler -- open Task Scheduler, look at the tasks to see if there's a task to run the software & check for updates, & if so, turn it off, e.g. disable or delete it.

Sometimes an app or driver uses a separate app to check for updates, and a link [shortcut] to that can be stuck in the Start Menu so it runs every time Windows starts [C:\ ProgramData\ Microsoft\ Windows\ Start Menu\ Programs\ Startup\], or that link can be stuck in one of the Run keys in the registry. If it's in the Start Menu you can move or delete it. If it's in the registry, it's probably easiest to check for & disable using an app designed to control what starts with Windows [there are many], or right clicking the Start Button & typing msconfig in the run box & running it -- one of the tabs on the window that opens should let you turn it off if that update app is listed there.

One last option is to see if there's a fix so that the version of the driver that insists on bullying its way onto your PC will or can work properly. If you Google & can't find any relevant discussions, & if you can download the problem driver version separately [as a setup file], you can see if you can turn off your AV software, then right click that setup file & run Troubleshoot compatibility. Another option that can work is run an app called DDU [Display Driver Uninstaller] that you can download from Guru3d[.]com, then after it runs & removes the driver, run the setup for the new one. Lots of people find it helps when a new driver won't install or run properly.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE – SOFTWARE – Microsoft – Windows – CurrentVersion – DriverSearching. Double click on "SearchOrderConfig" and set 0. Close regedit, restart computer. Voila.
This solution stoped search&download drivers from Windows Update service.

leto, Not a good idea to have folks play around in their registry unless they are very knowledgeable of what the actions do...1 little mess up and it can skew the whole thing.

It's useful for keeping all your application software up-to-date. I choose the option to skip this update "For ever" for any GOTD applications.

Don't want to start a flame war or trolling, but I thing your comments here MUST be "commented"!
I don't know your age or your experience with computers, so this is a BIG drawback for me. So, instead, I'll tell you "my" experience : I started programming around 1970 with COBOL. In the eighties a lot of Basic, dBase and Clipper - all languages most probably no one knows anything about. At those times there was no Windows. "Real" programmers used C. Nerds used MUMPS. And "zillions" programmers made programs in FORTUNE 100's companies ( which is my case ) to Mom's and Pop's next corner stores ( which is also my case ). Anyway, ONE thing I've learned in all these years : never, ever, NEVER let the "computer" do what it wants whenever it wants!! This is a SURE way to HELL!!! Some programs, when left alone, behave "better". Most don't. That's why there is such a big market for "fixing your computer" experts.
Unfortunatelly the great majority of users are not experts, and when it comes to upgrading computers and software they must relly on applications that do that for themselves. Mac users do not have that much trouble, because iOS does not let them do what they want, only what iOS wants. For non-experient users, that's the best thing. We, Windows users, that have ALL kinds of options, might suffer from this "freedom"!!!!
So, a program that tells you that there is something that you can change or upgrade, BUT, that lets you decide if you want or not to do it, is the BEST thing! Again, unfortunatelly, as the great majority of users do not have the slightest idea of what is going on, this is a problem. And I don't have a solution for this. Just hope some day, programmers will be able to accomodate all users, experts or not, needs!
As this is not a problem for me, I think programs as SUMO and DUMO are the best thing for me or for anyone that knows a bit abouty computers and programs!

What I wrote knowing it was to be moderated was not meant to be flaming nor trolling. Just critisism was what it was supposed to represent.

Like I mentioned out, there is like I see this better software that does like its says now and then available on GAOTD. Even if I don't like IObit too much in general, they have this Driver Booster (I use this as an example) which does the job concerning drivers and some other stuff, but lets you decide if or if not to update all or just separate drivers and other software. That is far better than some software that is just pointing out updates and making you spend a lot of time, while using a better option is saving you both the time and trouble BUT puts you to make your own decisions. So I do quite agree on the comment "never, ever, NEVER let the "computer" do what it wants whenever it wants". This is so true, and I've known this for decades by now. That is not the point of my critics, but the lack of handy features seen elsewhere. And... other App Managers are available too and even as freeware, but enough of that.

However, I have to mention this, that I used the SUMo to update other components IObit bypassed. Of course this worked, but at the time I had to put down on it was quite a bit more time than what it would have been with a different solution with software working in the same way this one I mentioned. To cut this short SUMo could be more handy and convenient to use. One can use the SUMo of course and it works, but it is relatively slow to use compared to some others, and lets note this too, that different "App Managers" have a different approach on things and choices of what they are updating and what they just bypass leaving much "stuff" unnoticed. There is and is never going to be a perfect solution working for everybody, choices just have to be made.

Quite that long (as you) I have not been around, Windows 1.04 was just released when I started even if mostly working with DOS in those days, and even some programming. Quite much I have seen along the way, and I do think I just about know what I'm talking about working with computer related problems tens of years by now. One more point: without critic nothing gets better - why would someone bother make the perfect program even better. "If it ain't broke don't fix it..." - no, really we're far from perfect where ever we stand.
