I started to download this software and got the following message:-
“The Software you are installing for this Hardware
Apowersoft_Audio Device
has not passed windows Logo testing to verify it’s compatibility with WindowsXP.
Continuing your installation of this software may impair or desatbilize the correct operation of your system, either immediately or in the future.Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing.”

I am using WinXP SP3.

Can anyone help please?

I am also using XP SP3. I got this software to function and my PC did not crash. See my earlier post (now currently at #10).

What Microsoft means with such message, is that this software company did not PAY Microsoft a big sum of money to be officially sanctioned by it, after which Microsoft will no longer display such scary message.

I just checked on my PC. No, it does not try to check for updates anymore after you have unticked the check box [Check for updates during startup] under Settings > General Settings.

You know, this has to be the screwiest (Don't even know if that is a word!) software I have ever seen. As noted in #56, I have tried to register several more times and get an "invalid registration code". Yes, I know about the capital "G"! But when I open it, in the lower right corner it says "Unregistered". When I click on that I get "Thank you for your registration", and below that line I get "Registered for Giveawayoftheday". When I click "Help", it likewise says "Registered for Giveawayoftheday" but yet it is not registered. When I close it and then reopen it, it reminds me to register it! This sounded like it was going to be a useful program but it is useless to me in the present state. When it comes to this "give away of the day", it has been a total waste of time!! Maybe they will get this figured out but in the mean time the time will be expired for me to get it up and running! It came so close but has been a total flop!! Thanks for nothing!!!

Love it! Downloaded and installed with no problems (Vista). One little misunderstanding in the registration process; asks for email. That and registration # didn't work. Rather, put in the the name GAOTD supplied in the readme file and registration #... works fine. Program works great. Have tried a couple of YouTube music videos and they worked perfectly the first time. Thank you, APowerSoft and GOTD.

Installed, registered, and performed great on Win 7 Home Premium 64. Some odd associations and glitches, like the fact that all Youtube pages had to be loaded twice before they'd run, and I imagine there are other little problems. But I closed and reopened my browser and Youtube worked fine. Fun program. The music search function didn't work right at all and always gave me totally incorrect song names, but maybe that's because of my weird tastes in music.

The reason why the program need internet access is used for recognizing the songs.
Both windows and mac program have built-in ID3 tag identify system that can recognize music you record easily.

Then, I submit that this is spyware which reports your computer activity to another computer somewhere on Earth.

Very nice piece of software except that it only correctly names the song & album around 20% of the time. The other 80% is either incorrectly named with some obscure artist & title, or it just leaves it as Trackxx.mp3 as the title. I have better luck with the Leawo Music Recorder that was offered here earlier this month. At least that program correctly named the songs most of the time. The only thing that I didn't like about Leawo is that it automatically moves the file to another folder named with the Artist and Album.

Update to my previous comment. I tried the registration process again and found that you must insert Giveawayoftheday in the email address and the registration code as provided in the readme.txt file. The G in Giveawayoftheday must be capitalized for the registration to work. Hope that helps everyone having a problem registering.

Unable to register the product. I keep getting 'Invalid Registration Code' and there is no place to put the User Name (Giveawayoftheday) indicated in your instructions...only a place for an email address. I cannot use a product that only records 3 minutes in a trial version. Will you correct this or send a valid registration code to the GAOTD users who cannot register it?

Make sure the G is capitalized and the rest is lowercase and all one word.

Susie, I don't think that people appreciate this comment. I have been working on computers for 25 years and have tried to register 6 or 8 times and it WILL NOT register so don't imply that it is the users fault. There is a problem in the software or registration process and as a result, some users are having a problem but not others. You just happen to be one that did not have a problem!! Thank you!!!

Just saw XP-Man's post. FWIW, I haven't been able to get Skype to work since the Realtek fiasco. Either the mike or the speakers work, not both. Their "diagnostic" tells me everything's working! NO, it isn't, I either can't hear the ECHO test girl or I can't hear what I'm recording on the test. At least my speakers work for playing sounds elsewhere correctly, but if I plug in my mike, it acts like a megaphone through the speakers instead of being recorded.

Update: Tried Streaming Audio Recorder first with my microphone (nothing recorded) and then with a streaming video from Youtube (it downloaded the youtube but when I hit PLAY it gave the error message "didn't recognize format") so I downloaded again and it stored to a temp file instead of RIGHT UP FRONT telling me there was a file by the same name so it couldn't save it.
Launching the saved video from the file defaults to the KLM player rather than my standard VLC player though that might be due to a recent KLM update stealing back an association without my express permission.
Gads how I love audio and video recordings for their conflicts and idiosyncracies. NO, I don't.

Déjà vu encounter of the worst kind.
A few weeks ago I updated my Realtek audio driver.
Among the things it did (incl. nearly muting volume even when set to 100%) was to cripple ALL my desktop shortcuts. I couldn't launch anything from a shortcut, could only open Firefox by running as admin and then cutting/paste&go links! Ridiculous, so had to roll back to older driver.
Now THIS software's gone and done the same thing (i.e., break shortcuts)
I don't even know how this is possible. Would love a fix. I did nothing to change associations. I'd love to have this application, but not at the expense of all my shortcuts! Well and truly p-o'd.
FWIW, I've installed several other non-audio related programs in between with no problems)

WinVista 64-bit, but it runs most 32-bit programs.

Just now completed download and installation; whole process went off without a hitch, taking no more than 10 minutes including registration conformation. I love this new software as it seems, so far, to live up to all its claims and is relatively easy to use - even for the less skilled PC user.
I'm happy that I bothered to pick up this deal today. I have a pile of work to do and all indications are that this Streaming Audio Recorder is just the software needed to make it easier and quicker than I'd even hoped.
Thanks GOTD and apowersoft.com for another wonderful deal.

Two HUGE THUMBS UP from me! I have been testing this program for several hours. By comparison, for several years I have been using, and have been satisfied with, the paid for version of Replay Music. The tagging on this GOTD program appears to be superior and more accurate and does everything that I ask of Replay Music (I do not use the RM CD Burning function.) In my opinion this GOTD is a great program, well worth the full asking price.

I would urge caution when trying to download/install this software if you are trying to do so on XP.I as others have stated did get the Microsoft warning re compatibility with windows xp.I chose the "continue anyway" (this was during the install stage).Immediately my computer froze and i had to execute a hard button shutdown after a wait of 10 minutes to see if it would correct the freeze. Don't think i will try it again. Fred

Initially with this computer I had endless problems with my Realtek audio system where it would change the environment of its own accord often rendering it impossible to understand.
Even now it will turn the front mic off as soon as two programs that need it are opened I have never instructed it to do this and nor can I stop it!
The other day a video converter caused problems with people's audio, that is those who are unfortunate enough to have Realtek.

Downloaded & installed without any problems, started the programme inserted Giveawayoftheday & the password as listed in the read me file, and it was registered straight away, saved in my own folder not default C:, again no problems, so I am unable to understand why people are having problems with either downloading or getting it registered. Works just like it says in the description.

I use audacity for most of my music capture and edits, (primarily for choral music capture for practice) and I'm surprised everyone's favorite contributor Giovanni didn't list it in his post.
This one sounds good so I'm going to try it. Perhaps some things will be simpler...

Smooth swift download and registration on Mac OS. Rather unusually for a Mac program it places a shortcut on the desktop. Recorded mp3s from off-air are clear and sent to the Movies folder by default.
The schedule feature is a useful addition to my software library and the program seems to have integrated itself into the sound system settings as well as Audacity without a problem. Overall a useful giveaway appreciated by a Mac user. Thanks Apowersoft and GotD.

All complainers of invalid registration obviously like to complain instead of just reading and following the README.TXT instructions.

If they had just followed the instructions instead of entering any e-mail address, then the complainers would have known they simply were supposed to put the words:

giveawayoftheday

(in area that says e-mail address, instead of any actual e-mail address)

The REGISTRATION CODE is perfectly fine. It is users whom didn't follow instructions to the giveawayoftheday.com attached README.TXT that came in the zipped file.

As an audiofile and musician I was excited this was getting such good reviews. Big Problem with registration though. The Register window asks for email address and registry number. There was NO indication that an email would be required (and it isn't). Your first instructions were "You only need to enter key code and you have to activate the program within today." WRONG. After much frustration I see half way down the comments page that you are supposed to enter "giveawayoftheday" where it asks for your email address. Doing this registers the program. Much Thanks! I appreciate the free programs but please DON"T SCREW UP THE SIGN UP.
When a button comes up that says a program is installed and it opens for the first time - we should be looking at the registry window or a tab that leads you there. Oh...and if "email" doesn't mean "email", we should probably know that right away.
Thanks GOTD

I'm sure this has uses but reading posts where people are having to find, record, compile/convert etc.. music files, I'm thankful that GOTO introduced me to Audials. I ended up buying the program and have a portable version too. And thanks to the ASHAMPOO SNAP offering, screen captures, and video captures (yep, purchased that too), I'm set. Sorry but just too many free apps out there that does this using the same amount of effort.

Seems ok, lots of good functions, not too hard to use. I tried downloading online music, converting a local music video file to mp3 and tagging it, and recording an audio stream. Everything worked fine on my Win7 64-bit system. I found the small non-expandable program window a little limiting at times (like with long music titles). The tools don't seem very well integrated when going from one to the other (e.g., separate step needed to tag a music video track after extracting from the video file). No drag-and-drop for files. Search could be more flexible. But overall, thumbs up from me.

#3: "Input settings can be adjusted and it has a feature that audacity doesn’t have, the ability to record from the sound card and microfone at the same time."

That's something that depends on your hardware & the drivers + software that come with it. While you're always limited to the physical inputs your hardware provides, you can work around some artificial software limits by installing & using virtual hardware drivers. Some recording apps come with these drivers, Audacity doesn't.

* * *

#6: "My audio system is Realtek, a really flaky piece of software in my opinion which falls over the slightest opportunity. When trying to install this program Windows popped up with a warning that it had not been tested on XP and it could cause instability, Realtek doesn’t need any help in this department."

Developers can jump through whatever hoops, having Microsoft certify their drivers, or not. Without that certification you get warnings on install. You may or may not get better results with certified drivers -- I've certainly come across quite a few that were bunk, while I'm using beta AMD graphics drivers that haven't gone through certification, yet are head & shoulders above the certified versions. Truth be told *Any* driver can cause instability, sometimes worse -- what matters is how well it's written, & not the MS seal of approval.

As far as Realtek goes, they've almost cornered the market for on-board audio chipsets I think. And their drivers are always being updated so they're normally fairly bulletproof -- generally the latest reference drivers & software you can download from the realtek site work pretty well [ http://www.realtek.com.tw/ ]. There's even an older ASIO driver set you can find on-line if you don't want to use ASIO4ALL [ http://www.asio4all.com/ ] for software that can/will use ASIO [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Stream_Input/Output ]. That's not to say using Realtek audio is better than add-on hardware [where driver problems are Much more common BTW], but it'll work.

I am really happy to see today's Giveaway. I could never find an audio or video recorder that recorded both System sound and microphone, but this one does so extremely well (I've installed and tried it).
This is perfect software for people who want to record themselves using software (for tutorials perhaps).
Just use a video recorder and use this for audio recording. That way people can hear you and the software together.

P.S. I read in the "share ideas" box that it asks for a case-sensitive email address instead of a username.
I have no doubt that the software simply has a typo. Just input the username "Giveawayoftheday" where it asks for your email address and it will unlock the software for you.

I did finally get it registered. When I had put Giveawayoftheday as the user email address it kept saying it was an Invalid email address and when I then tried my real one it was an Invalid registration code. Eventually I closed the registration box and noticed that there was another identical one underneath. That one accepted Giveawayoftheday as a valid email address.
I hope the program proves easier to use than the registration.

Anyone know what's wrong? I clicked the OK button on this and it went away, leaving the flash screen for the software just sitting there. Had to close it with task manager.

Recording a streaming radio station is much easier via the DAR.FM website. It is FREE and there is NO software needed to be installed. Plus your PC isn't used to record the station, DAR recorded it and you just download it from their site, when you want it.

BTW .. you can set up multiple FREE accounts at DAR.FM

No thanks on today's offering.
