To be honest I just want to say that I have never used Stellar Phoenix Word Repair tool but I have used it’s Excel Repair tool. It’s good as it helped me a lot to repair corrupted Excel file. Now I have no issue in my excel file. I must say it’s an amazing tool.

I've been able to register the program via the vendor's website, and have received the activation codes.

But I have a problem: each time I try to install the program, I get an error message which tells me that the file is corrupted and that I must obtain a new copy. I've tried that, and I've tried 'Run as administrator' when attempting to install the program. I've also used two different programs to unzip the GOTD download. All to no avail, and I've now run out of ideas.

Question to the vendor: why can't I install the program?

Tried on a folder of damaged documents that I created a few years ago with MS Word 2002. One of those documents I recovered about a year ago with a different Word recovery utility, not even sure which one anymore. I only needed the one doc, didn't try the others at the time.

Out of 12 almost identical, plain-text documents, only 3 were read, the other 9 all indicated:

"File format not supported. To repair the file, you need to have MS Word 2007/2010/2013. Please upgrade MS Office and try again."

Thoughts?

I would improve Stellar Phoenix Word Repair 5.5 to work without MS Office installed. You could also make it work with other office packs compatible with MS Word.

i believe that this offer is only valid for some countries because some have not received and i did not received the activation code.

Registered twice and received my registration code in e-mails, unfortunately in both cases the e-mails were blank.

I didn't receive an email with the key and the software won't open because I don't have Microsoft office on my computer. I use Open Office with word files and I would have liked the option to repair word files without having Windows Office installed on my computer. I remember repairing a corrupt word file a few years ago with freeware. There is a free software called Repair My Word.

I work a lot in Microsoft Publisher and rarely use Word unless it's a letter or something simple. On the occasion that the file I'm working on gets corrupted, I grab the temporary file, rename it and save it as Publisher. Most time that works. With that said, it would be wonderful to have a program that would repair Publisher then have to go find it's possible temp file which doesn't always happen. Can you add that, Stellar Phoenix?

Gave it a try. Didn't work for me on office 16 in win 10 which to be fair it doesn't claim to do . On a mixed file of text and graphics it stripped out the text and lumped all the graphics together. So not bothered about not being able to register!! Will remove

It installed nicely and the activation codes were successful. I tried it on the only Word doc that I have that was messed up. It failed three times. Uninstalled.

If a person doesn't have a corrupted word file, he or she can't test this program, unless this program comes with some corrupted files itself, i guess. At the same time messing with a word file in a hex editor by overwriting some bytes may not produce a real-world corrupted file.

Unfortunately as per the stated spec, you require MS Office for this to run, I use one of the free alternatives which won't do. Looking at their other software, 'Stellar Phoenix Photo Recovery – Platinum', this would be of great interest to me should this come available, fingers crossed. Sorry I can't provide a review for today's offering, it insists on MS Office then closes, so I can't register it for future use if I do get MS Office.

You should always make a copy or two of your document folder(s) on a USB drive, especially if your documents are important or you need to keep them for long time.
No software can guarantee to recover damaged files 100% if they were overwritten or repaired with CHKDSK used in the past.

I'd like to try this but the activation code never arrived. Checked SPAM folder and registered with 2 email addresses.
It tells me the account is created but...... No activation code.

I wrote a document in 2002 that got corrupted and I have tried many suggestions I found on the internet to try and fix it - nothing worked. Installed this program and it recovered my document in seconds. GREAT program - thank you very, very very much!

Nowadays corrupted word documents are even less common than corrupted zip archives, and i'm pretty sure that there are some free online service for fixing corrupted word documents.

No problem in receiving reg key by email, it was very fast for me, BUT it doesn't work without MS office installed, it shows the message "First install the Office on the machine" i click OK and it closes. I'm don't know whether it works with free office alternatives I only have Free Viewer installed.
