This is what I got from Stellar . Instead of a registration key.
It is supposed to eventually get me a key but is a far more complex procedure than in the "Read Me" in the giveawayoftheday download.
This is it:
"Hi,

Thank you for writing to Stellar Technical Support.

Kindly follow the below procedure to install the latest version of software.

Please make sure that you are not using the system remotely and you are physically present on the machine.

First, uninstall the previous version of the program completely and also delete the folder from the installation directory and then open the registry editor (for this go to run prompt and type "regedit') and erase all the existing entries by using following words "Stellar Phoenix", please find and remove them one by one.

Onward this, please restart the computer and download the program again from the below mentioned full version link:

Make sure that you are logged in with the Administrator's account to the computer and install the software to its default location i.e. C:\Program Files\Stellar Phoenix CD DVD Data Recovery.

Now, kindly follow the below mentioned steps to activate the program manually. Please read them carefully before proceeding.

1. Click on the about 'i' icon on the top left corner of the software.

2. On the 'About Stellar Phoenix CD DVD Data Recovery' page, click on 'Register'.

3. Select 'I have the registration key' option and click 'OK'.

4. Then, select 'Online Registration' and click 'OK'.

5. Now click 'Yes'.

6. This would launch the Electronic Software Registration wizard, click on 'Cancel'.

7. As you click on 'Cancel', you will get a message stating: "Online activation failed, do you want to send serial number to us". Click on 'Yes'.

8. It will prompt you to enter the serial number. Just enter 'XYZ' there instead of serial key.

9. This will generate a file on your desktop with the name of PHX_REG.txt.

10. Click on 'Finished' and minimize the software to the taskbar. DO NOT CLOSE IT!!!

11. Now, send the PHX_REG.txt file to us along with the full name of software that appears in the title bar.

12. Upon receiving the file, we will send you a site key, which you can use to activate the product.

Note: Please do not close the program until you get site key from us.

do we have any follow up with the registration process ?

I downloaded and installed but have never received the registration. Another notable mention is that I've tried 3 different DVD-Rs and all 3 came up as unreadable. Don't know if this is a keeper or not especially without registration.

I received the email with information to registration, however it was empty.
This was written on it:

"Thank You For Registering!


Enter the below User Name, Activation Code and then click OK to activate the software.

What should I do?

installed ok and was activated but asks for registration then freezes

Still haven't received my reg. email. NO IT'S NOT IN MY SPAM FOLDER. WHY do these people waste everyone's time?

Installed on Windows Home 7, 64b after going through the hoops and getting the download through yahoo e-mail link. After first run it sent me to GoTD site saying it had been registered. After taking a CD burn of gparted and using this program, it copied it all ok and saved an image. I could see the disk's structure and expand and contract the files in the structure where nested. Went the next step to Recover from image and it wants me to register the software. Never received a key. Wants me to buy. Failed as a free as advertised giveaway. I had hopes of going through a lot of scratched disks. Guess I'll have to look for something else that may work because this failed properly registering, because it wouldn't do it automatically at one point and never allowed me to enter a key which I never received. Better luck next time.

Like the rest no e-mail with key yet.
If I get one I plan to test if this can rip a commercial movie DVD.
I suspect it will need one of the commercial decrypters to do this.
I use one with IsoPuzzle & it works fine.
However IsoPuzzle won't recover Audio CDs.
I was hopping this program will.
DVDFab used to have Passkey Lite for free but I'm not sure if it still does.
It was free but delayed on updates for the newest DVDs.
When DVDFab offered its' full Passkey for free I got it & it works as a decrypter for IsoPuzzle.
If I don't get a licesnse key I can't test this program.

Did not receive a key on gmail, normal email and disposable email. Tried to test the trial in a bit onconventional way: made an iso of a programcd. Changed the iso in an hexeditor, mounted the iso: only one .ini could be red, rest was damaged. Stellar dvd recovery surface scan only found and showed photo files, (png, jpg, bmp etc). Mounted the non edited (good) iso. Stellar dvd recovery surface scan only showed picturefiles again, no .ini dll´s exe´s etc. Don´t know if it is a limitation of the trial (did not find any clue) but can only give it a big thumbs down.

I am using isopuzzle instead. and its totally free

The address for the form does not open, and the registration claims that the program needs to be reinstalled?

I really dislike publishers who make us jump through all kinds of hoops to get a serial number or key. In this case, there is no mention of a separate application form or personal info requirement prior to downloading or installing the product.

And despite having provided all they asked... an hour later, there is no emailed key; as I don't even have an email spam filter, it didn't get trapped there, either.

Stellar Phoenix had a great disk recovery program which dated back to the early XP days, and I was hoping that this would be of similar quality and comprehensiveness... but it looks as if it is destined for an uninstall.

I'll give it another hour...

How long does it take to receive the key after you fill out the form?

Registration not working.

Click on Register button in the Information panel:

"Software is not installed properly. Uninstall and reinstall application again."

Tried uninstalling and installing 3 times! Win 7, 32bit.

I have a feeling that does software does not apply to movies on DVD or Blu-ray.

Installation completed on W10 with no issues other than the usual false positive from the GAOTD wrapper with my antivirus....

Completed registration process as required but no e-mail with site key received following registration.....so stuck with trial version

Looks like I'll be uninstalling soon
