This is a fun app. Makes some cool images. Can make some fun avatar images. Registration does ask for more personal info than is comfortable. Just use an alias for the parts you are uncomfortable with.

There is no "Help->register to paste the license into. Not present in the version from GOTD or in the install from the file downloaded after placing the order.
The program seems to run anyways; was able to apply effects to a photo and save.

Some pretty cool effects. Very nice (except for the multi-step process to activate).

Once again, I'm faced with software devs that are stuck in the last century. I really despise software that forces the app to be installed on the C: drive. My C: drive is a SSD and is reserved for the OS and those apps that are used frequently and use lots of PC resources. This particular app is not one of them. Devs, get with the times and allow us, the users/buyers of your products to choose where on a PC the app is to be installed. Don't know whether I will keep it or not, regardless of the lifetime license because of the flawed installation logic. End of rant.

What a great tool. So many photo enhancers are complicated or awkward interfaces. TYhis one is clean, fresh and just does a variation of the target photo in one click. I am not even sure there is a manual, but who cares. Its SOOOO intuitive!

Gosh golly, wasn't expecting too much. Ran it on an already compressed .jpg, selected a pre-set from the many offered along bottom of program. Added effect (s) fast. Then checked file size since many apps balloon that like a stupid Koons thing. Just slight bump from 176kb to 210kb. JPG was a scan of a slide of a painting. Don't know how the app picks what various effects to throw up as choices but there's a lot and wild ones as expected. But just me but the flash you could add just as defaults is wickedly fun. I love the painting yet so much fun to jazz it.
No biggies about the register bits if just use a common one like yahoo & funky info in fields. Does want bag of info so throw a google phone #. Didn't try a throwaway email addy, but yahoo was in instant. Thanks guys.

    I previously had version 1.1.3 installed on W10 PC. This giveaway of version 1.1.8 automatically replaced it which is fine but I don't see a registration link under Help. The list I see under Help is;
    About Spektrel Art
    Reveal Preset Folder
    Jixipix Info
    Jixipix Products

There is nowhere to enter the registration number. Is the update just using my past registration number? Am I good to go?

Downloaded and installed easily on Win 7 Pro via email link. Had no problem registering although that is quite a bit of private info requested; not too happy about that and they didn't get exactly what they wanted.

Played with it for a bit and I think this one is a keeper. Very easy to use and understand without having to resort to help files. Like the dark look a lot and can see where I might use the other presets. I also like the idea of the brush feature to remove parts of the picture not needing the effect. That's a plus for me.

This is one I will keep and use on some of the original stuff I have been messing with. Think I will also see what it can do to some of the pix of my newest great grand child!

I updated my existing Spektrel Art program. Of Course, not all mod programs are great for all photos, but this works well with photos that need a Spektrel kick. I liked my previous version and this up grade adds a tad more spice. I am pleased. Give it a try.

    TL;DR:
Installed rather painlessly, opens quickly, offers nice effects and a friendly interface.

I thought this would be yet another basic filters program among a sea of many, including free online options, but I installed based on the nice samples provided above. Some thoughts:

    1. Awesome clean, dark interface that is quite user-friendly. Seems the type of software that is user-driven rather than coder-driven (unlike how some software forgets how actual users work).

    2. Opens quickly with no delays, offers drag & drop, respects my save location (original image folder is checked by default in the preferences, or use last saved location if you prefer). Also in preferences is the option to show tooltips, although the few icons are rather easy to understand even without the assistance.

    3. Offers a nice array of named & numbered filters with the ability to fine tune each one with slider options like sharp, glow, color boost and smoothing, among numerous other options. There's also a "Random" button for times you feel like just poking around without needing to give too much input.

3B. You can "invert" (not the same as "negative") the image and use the Brush option (keyboard shortcut "B") to finely detail your image with the selected effect. For instance, if you only want to apply "20 Dark Colorize" to the eyes of a portrait, this is the option for that. Conversely, you can Erase the effect (keyboard shortcut "E").

    4. Also offers zoom, undo/redo, hide (tools) panel, and allows resizing of the program window. Bonus: there's a button to quickly view the original version of your image. Nice!

    -----

Some of these options seems as though they should be standard and not worth including in a review, but I've used enough programs that don't offer these simple features, making their use cumbersome. I can say that I am pleased with this GOTD software and believe the price is a good deal.

    Slight CONS:

    1. I haven't been able to load it as a plugin in Affinity Photo (latest version 1.8.5.703), but that could be my own fault as a relatively new AP convert and customer.

    2. I don't understand why Spektrel needed my FULL name, home address, and phone number for this trial. Of course, I didn't provide such sensitive information. However, with comfort, I would provide some upon a purchase, particularly my email address.

2B. Spektrel, please denote which fields in your form are *required. Thanks!

    -----

    Nice GOTD today. Thank you.

    Stahlharter Tortenboxer,

    This programme works extremely well on certain types of pictures (like the human form or landscapes etc.) but if used on images such as cityscapes, it produces highlight lines that do not enhance the image. This is probably the problems you have encountered. Try loading an image of yourself, wife or girlfriend and you will be amazed :}

Perhaps you should go back to the default settings...or perhaps your PC has some sort of problem!

Been trying different softwares similar to this one before, but this was definately something else. Absolutely great variety of different effects and I simply love the result. Very smooth and easy to adjust.

Already "wasted" one hour playing with different images just for fun, the results always turns out briilant.
This is for sure a keeper.

Downloaded quickly without a problem on Win 10 64 bit.
License was easy, they send me a weblink.
They then sent me an email to confirm and in second email they gave me my registration key.
Entered key without a hitch, program running perfectly.
Thank you Spektral and Giveaway of the Day for a great program.

First thing that strikes you is no choice for where the software gets installed. (pet hate)
Then you need to register and get a form that needs filling in with false details inc PHONE NUMBER??
Then you will a code to paste into your software which when working is effective but slow.
A lot of faffing about to get up & running and you really need to be exact with this one.

Worth having as there are effects i have not seen elsewhere and they are pleasant so it needs a bit more playing with. Not very sophisticated. Just the usual sliders to change settings and a good number of presets for differing effects.

Having jumped through the proverbial, I shall have to keep it, at least for a while. Esp as its a lifetime licence.

    Enjoy.

After receiving the 16 digit registration number, I find when I copy and past only the numbers of th 16 digits enter the the registration panel on the software. So when register button is clicked the software tells me thats its invalid registration. Also tried to enter 16 registration number via keyboard but only able to enter numbers will not let me enter text, so unable to register the software.

The registration process asks for your phone number and address. I understand that we could leave false details if we choose to, but I'm against the requesting of this personal data on principal. I get that we're being offered the software for free, but I'm not into data collectors masquerading as software vendors giving away their apps.
