Yep Keith (06-06..), mine's packed in again too so I couldn't agree with you more! It's a real pain in the ass cos it's great when it works but I haven't taken an update just in case... Maybe they'll do another re-run so we'll live in hope for a while again.. or is there another solution?

I downloaded this and have used it. But as of today, it is not letting me download any more than 50% of the music as my "free trial" is over!

This wasn't presented as a free trial, but as full software!

What's the deal????

Hi, missed this Offer over Easter (but have version 2.2.7.6 with a Lifetime Key thanks to understanding Developer's Support!, and my.. "pestering" too, hmm - it was a case of our Lifetime Licenses not working with earlier GAOTD Version of this Program not long ago)

To all Those who are worried about "legal side" of this Program (am am not an expert, nor would I wish to influence Anybody's "moral convictions" here!), or quality of downloaded mp3 music.. - Think of it a "musical google":) - where You get many, many Positions in an instance(!!) and a CHOICE of what You settle for is entirely up to You??

I personally sift through all appearing positions, even if Titles look the same.. and usually can find the best sounding piece, not to mention a right "journey" though cover versions, similar music, or artists..
YES, "like" on uTube.., but that Journey doesn't have to stop there, not with uTube, not WITHIN Speed MP3..

I would say this Program is simply fast, intuitive and NEAT! It will also lead You to places:)
If I carry on further, I will be suspected of being a "hard core" promoter of Speed MP3 Downloader, lol. It's NOT the case! We only share our experiences here with given Offers, don't we?

@Eddy#40 - hope You got it right this time!:)
Thanks GAOTD for bringing popular, useful Programs back!

Most enjoyable giveaway I've ever seen. :) Perfect install, register....mind blowing endless library of everything you could ever think of - all presented to the user in an instant in the form of a wonderful and convenient, simple user-friendly menu from which the user may opt to just listen or download.
I played with all day yesterday. :)
Thanks! It would be worth the price and I'll tell others about it and recommend it!
Beautiful!

General rule: If you download a song, better make sure you have the CD of it in your possession.
If you have the CD, don't upload to these sites.

Had problems with this newer version. Twice my graphics card was disrupted, screen overshadowed by a pattern of flickering blocks in about 13 columns across and perhaps 15 rows tall. Did not experience this with version 2.2.7.6 which only worked for a few weeks before not allowing playback of soundtracks or downloads of same (only feature that worked was "search" for that version). Have malwarebytes, advance system care pro(for scans), and symantec corp version for full-time defense. Disruption to visual happened after test playing several songs. On second attempt, song that caused original disruption did not cause any problem when reselected in search results after a reboot. This version did allow me some downloads. Not sure why graphics affected. Anyone else experience same? My OS is XP on older computer. Have all current microsoft updates.

It has a FATAL programming error.
The user interface window truncates part of the whole and only shows about 85% of it. The right hand side is truncated.
Although the double arrow appears when you try to resize the window horizontally, it is impossible to do so.
The horizontal size of the window cannot increase beyond this.
The vertical resize for the program window functions normally.

Thank You GAOTD and Speed mp3 Downloader .
If material is on YouTube it's there issue regarding copyright infringement , they ban enough stuff for silly reasons to begin with.

As someone mention their site says it's Portable . Not without work it's not! I suspect they mean portable devices. %ProgramData% is where it holds its setting and default DLs. It's Flash Player dependent too (it downloads an old version).

Great program , love the colors, design and concept .To my USB stick it goes ;)
8/10 in my book needs work on some filtering copyrighted stuff & more 'legal DL music sites'.

Well, at least for me, the installation process is a TOTAL CRAP of a mess. At the end of the installation, it opens a page in their web site and then my nightmare started. My Antivirus (Bitdefender) reports an infected java script (ndhui[1].js) that is unable to clean. I've try several way to removed manually without luck. It may be a false positive but now every time I open my browser I get that warning. ANOYING !@!@ and it's only since I've installed the software. Well I guess what you paid for. And BTW I did purchase some of the free proposals to encourage the developers. I guess I’ll stick with reputable software developers in the future. :\

XP SP3: no hassle install, works but looks cheap, but does the job.
After using for a while it crashed. Upon restarting they try to sell
it to you, but it still works. Quality of file is better than what you hear as it's being downloaded. Certainly not worth the asking price.

I know this will probably be past the time that the moderator (whoever that is) will be here, but I HAD to post, just in case.

This little item is AWESOME! I listen exclusively to classical music, and I was a bit let-down when I looked at the list of categories and classical was not there.

However, I decided to give it a search for Wynton Marsalis trumpet concertos. I got SEVEN pages of possibilitles. Of course, my eyesight doesn't let me really see what is in those lists, but I picked a few just to give the sound a try. ABSOLUTELY SUPERB! I find it hard to believe that these tracs came from Youtube.

Thank you GOTD and Speed MP3 Downloader. Thank you very much.

I have been very excited by this giveaway.
So, I played around with the software & here is what I feel about it:

01. The sound quality of the streaming audio & downloaded audio are quite poor. All of them are muddy and of a muffled variety, no matter what music I tried - from Rock to Jazz to Bollywood.

02. There is no way to stop an already streaming audio.
03. Its really inconvenient to navigate back & forth as you browse through MP3 collections. In fact, there are no navigation tools for the purpose.
04. Minor annoyance - its the way the close, minimise, reduce to tray buttons in the program interface work.. Though once you figure that out using hit & trial [there are no labels, even when you hover your mouse over them], it may cease to be an annoyance factor.

Bottom line: A software which feels very crude to handle & operate; offers below-par music quality & lacks even the most basic options required in such software, which makes it frustrating or annoying to use.
Alternative which comes to my mind is Audials One [& a very high quality one at that!].
Speed MP3 Downloader stands uninstalled. But anyway, I thank the GAOTD team for the offer today.

A great idea but implemented in a lousy way. First, it downloads/installs a Flash player which was already installed in the system. Then, if I select a song from the result list, it gives a pop-up window "Access violation" - so no pre-listening. I also can't scale the program window horizontally, some parts of the result table and the buttons at the bottom are cut off. No table sorting possible.

Only positive thing, the download of songs works. Please improve/fix this program (I'm using Win7, 64bit)!

I see this type of program as unhealthy for the public. Few people who read anything resembling rights for the product.

I compose my own music from time to time, though not in the same price level as the great artists. This type of program does not help low-budget musicians an inch!

Btw. my phone company has a solution built into my subscription, so I have free access to more than 15 million songs. I can download to my PC and my mobile, but the songs can not be burned to a CD !

That stopped me in my tracks. Starting to just get a bad feeling with this thing. Going to hit cancel and not continue to install.

So just wanted to type a comment here on how wrong @10 is and why you shouldn't upvote his comment. Basically with Vevo around, their music quality on youtube is top notch and saying that most youtube videos have bad quality is wrong.

Almost every song I downloaded with this software has as good quality as buying the mp3 from itunes or downloading the mp3 from a pirate site.

So the false claim that youtube videos have worse music quality is very wrong and misleading.

I LOVE this program! It reminds me of when I used to have "music on demand" with Music Match before they sold out. I paid for this feature & even though it seems like others have similar to offer, they cost way more for way less so I gave up on it. I realize the quality on lots of the songs so far sucks, but for listening on my pc while doing other tasks, it's fine for me. I've been able to find songs instantly I've NEVER been able to search and find. Ever!

Wish there were directions and choices like mentioned by everyone else. Like how to have the songs downloaded to another location instead of my desktop! Can anyone tell me where to find the place where I could change it? I could not find it by looking through the program files. I should know the answer to this but drawing a blank as I get more stressed each time I see how they're taking over my desktop!

I know I can move each one to wherever, but how to get them to go to "my music" file in the first place?!!! Thanks!!

@27 That window was just showing you your registration code. It already automatically registered, so there's nothing further on your part you need to do. :)

I like this program. The design is nice and it functions very much like I would expect it to. It's nice to have a program that does what you want it to do. I love that you can listen to one song and continue browsing without it stopping the music.

I just wish there was more under each category to browse...

After hearing too many stories about people who downloaded an illegal song (or grannies whose kids did it without their knowledge) getting their doors kicked down at 4 AM, guns pointed to their heads while agents hauled off almost everything electronic they owned, and/or being sent bills for several thousand dollars per song downloaded, I long ago decided I would never download a song off the Internet unless it comes from a known legal source like Amazon. It's just not worth having your life destroyed over 1 song. The same goes with downloading movies or software.

So this is a huge pass for me solely because it's too risky to have any piece of software downloading free songs unless you can restrict it to sites you know are legal, but then if you only download from YouTube the quality will be low. AFAIK some sites are sting operations just waiting for people to download something they shouldn't. It's just not worth the risk.

Downloaded and installed at ease (Win 7, 32-bit). Added a singer name and searching gave a result super fast.

However, the quality of a downloaded song was so poor, despite having selected 320 kbps (I believe that due to the quality of original song?). Another song was in good quality! So it seems ok.

Keeping for further use when needed only.

I recently downloaded Ares because it seemed like a popular program but found that it didn't work very well because of not many users having the songs or videos I wanted... But today's giveaway works so well, so fast and my favorite thing is the option to listen before downloading. As for improvement, I will agree with other users about adding the option for skins as grey is the only color I don't like.

Basically what this does is to search for music on public sites much as one can do with Google, so there’s no advantage there. It works in a straightforward manner. You enter the name of the music or the artist and it searches for a match.

Although there’s no way to know if the title will match with exactly what you’re looking for. It appears to search by file titles, so whether you find a song by the artist or the song title depends upon whether someone entered that into the name of the file. So you can’t search on lyrics. You can check to see if it’s the right file by playing the song.

I found that the “exit” or “close” wasn’t clearly marked on the main screen. You have to realize the dots at the top corners aren’t just for show.

It allows one to download the music which is where it gets legally tricky. Unlike file sharing programs, this doesn’t involve uploading the material, so you could be downloading something that was legally uploaded or something that was illegally uploaded. So the program does facilitate illegal file sharing. For the company to properly protect themselves they should be filtering out the illegal uploads, but there’s no way the program appears to have of doing so. There is also the questionable aspect that they’re asking for money that allows one to get music without paying for it. And nobody who really want to download the music is doing so just to delete it after listening to it. If there was a real concern about legality then the file would just play the song and not allow it to be downloaded.

But if you have to delete the music after downloading then you’re no better off than using a search engine. And there are browser plug-ins (mainly for Mozilla) that can be used to download the music and videos. Given that, the price is high but the bigger problem is with their business model. They offer the ability to download music without paying for it, which means they’re aiming for a market of people who don’t like paying for things, including software.

It is my assumption that the Registration information provided isn't needed and the program registers without that.

If the registration information (Name and Registration # in the Readme file) isn't needed why add confusion by providing it??

For those quick to say check previous giveaways of the program....we should NOT have to scour the site for previous ones for the present giveaway. Re-run or not. All information should be given.

At any rate...the interface needs to be more user friendly. Have at least tool tips that pop up for buttons since they are not labeled. The text size is so incredibly small and needs to be larger, the menu and buttons the same and not clearly indicated nor are they labeled.

Even with someone with great vision...eye strain isn't appreciated due to trying to use a program.

The program downloaded and installed easily on Win 7 64bit machine. Seems to do as it's intended. Easily searches through online databases that are open to the public for given search terms. The results vary of course depending on what is being searched for and available.

Make sure you watch for any copyrighted material and heed the warnings if you acquire any of those. Even youtube has copyright infringement videos/music. It is one thing to listen to and quite another to download and keep.

To SpeedMP3Downloader.com and ALL Developers and Companies:

Is it that difficult to at least add an option to the program to change some simple common interface aspects like TEXT SIZE, Colors, Button Titles! Especially when what you have provided is so MINIMAL!

Be more Conscientious to Customers needs and realize that when you aren't you are deliberately excluding many potential Paying customers...thus losing out on sales which = less profits for the company.

No matter how great a program is....if users are unable to work with the program (especially for those due to visual or such problems) it is a waste of money and useless.

They will not buy what they cannot easily use...they will not use what is even FREE if they can't work with it.

Many people have visual problems or issues -- Be aware of that.

Suggestions: Fix text size, Add button labels, make the menu larger and more readable (along with the entire program itself), provide options to change the interface text, size, and interface colors to desired or needed ones.

@Linda (12):

That copy is the publisher's own description of its product, NOT a CNET editor's review. It's not 100% legal at all.

In fact, if a rightsholder like Universal Records decided to sue this publisher, they would have a much stronger case against them than they would against Google, for example, because this program does more than simply return query results.

This normally sells for ~$50? That seems a bit overpriced for a youtube search engine and downloader, which you can normally get for free at any time, using about 30 seconds more of your time each download. I think that either the price should be dropped to ~$1-free or have many, many, many more free download areas/subscription-only download areas added. Else, from word of mouth and comments, this will sell few copies, and earn the company a horrid reputation.
