An AI-powered object remover for videos and images.

With SOS Click, you can now save your Word document to multiple places in just one click. Working on an important contract, your PhD, your next bestseller or anything else?

This add-in for Microsoft Word will allow you to save to many places in just one click without having to save to each place separately.
Places can be both local on your computer like several local hard drives, local folders and your thumb drive as well as remote places like network shares, e-mail addresses as well as cloud services like Dropbox and Google Drive.

The add-in also features several auto-save options depending on the scenario preferred by the user. For instance, the add-in can auto-save to your mailbox at fixed intervals so you always have extra and up-to-date copies of your work. The add-in also features adding timestamps to the files for easy navigations between different versions based on their time of creation.

The add-in save button is easily accessed via the icon group from the Office ribbon interface or via the quick access toolbar to which the button can be added.

To recap - SOS Click offers a unique solution to save work to many places in one click, customized auto-save actions and integration with cloud services to ensure your work is always available when you need it. Turn an unsaved Word document or any other unsaved Office file into history!

NB: The add-in comes separately for Word, Excel and PowerPoint and normally sells for $10 each or as an all-in-one bundle for $20 (%33 off). It supports 64- and 32-bit editions of Windows 10 and 7 and supports Microsoft Office versions 2007-2019 (no Office 365 support at the moment).

System Requirements:

Windows 7/ 10 (x32/x64); Microsoft Office versions 2007-2019 (no Office 365 support at the moment).

The Good - It works with Windows 365 on Windows 11.

The Not So Good -

1. The instructions are not so good. In order to save with this program, you must first click on the main icon, which opens a set of two icons and then click on the new save icon that is presented. That should be made clear in the instructions. The standard Microsoft Save icon or menu item is not used. apparently this two step requirement can be avoided by adding the two icon set to Word ribbon menu.

2. In setting this up, one is required to set at least two default destinations for where the document is to be saved. I created a folder named "WordDocs" as one destination and used the Desktop as the second destination. That worked fine. When I pressed the custom save button, the document was saved to both destinations. However, I suspect that many people actually have a method by which they typically save their documents. For example, my letters to client Jones, go in the Jones folder; my letters to friend Sam go in to the Sam folder, and my letters concerning home maintenance matters go in the Home folder. The utility does not provide for that kind of organization. I think what I would have to do is use the ordinary Word save function to save to a special folder, and then press the SOS save button to save to the folders I have designated in the SOS settings. The problem gets further complicated if I go to, for example, the Sam folder, and modify the document there and save it back to the Sam folder. The result is that the SOS versions are not modified if I forget to do a second save to SOS.

The program would be improved if it always worked in the background. One or more destinations could be specified in SOS as what would be called backup locations. Thereafter, one could forget about SOS. Every time one used the ordinary Word save routine, one could save wherever one wanted, but SOS would see to it that backups would also be saved to the backup locations. Less complicated and more useful control by the user.

The promotional materials says that date and time stamps can automatically be added to the names of saved files.

The Missing - The promotional description says "The add-in also features adding timestamps to the files for easy navigations between different versions based on their time of creation." I do not see this feature discussed at the SOS website and I do not see any options to implement it in the SOS settings. Adding a date and time stamp to the title of document is a helpful way organize and it can be done with a visual basic maco, but it would be great if it can be done through SOS settings.

HJB, Hello HJB! First, thanks for the review! Very useful! Let me please address your points one by one:

1. Maybe our views differ here but it is stated clearly in the instructions that the user has to first configure at least two places for the add-in to do its job otherwise there’s in point in using it to save. If you can be more specific where it’s not clear. Moreover, the top section has an asterisk to let the user know it is mandatory to specify at least two fields. Please let me know if I miss anything.

2. The add-in is not an organizer but a supplementary tool to help the user save work. I had this design concept in mind, that is monitoring a specific folder for changes constantly in the background and have these changes reflect in specified folders. In this scenario the add-in won’t be limited to Microsoft Office only but its use could be expanded but it does have its own implications which is why I decided at this point to release it like this. I understand the additional use you’d like to see can be useful and it may be added in the next version. All ideas are welcome!

3. Timestamps are described inside the help text and can be enabled or disabled with the respective toggle button. My tests so far have been quite positive with this feature. If you can give some information as to what isn’t clear enough I’ll try to improve it. The time is added to the filename and isn’t part of the metadata which should include this part automatically however, this too may be added.

The tool itself sits as another layer to help the user save documents, spreadsheets or presentations. Naturally the user should be in control of the locations where he or she chooses to save.

Thanks for your review as it is always good to know how people see things!

Regards,
-Liran

Does this work with the current internet-based version of MS Word?
Is this compatible with Windows 11?

Henry Boitel, it’s for the desktop edition of Word. The online version has a built-in auto-save function and not sure Microsoft allows too much integration with 3rd party extensions. Not tested on Windows 11.

While I will not give a thumbs up or down, my issue with this type of program is that in order for you to be able to link all of your drives (cloud especially), you have to log in to each. As such, the fact that this program now has access to your secured cloud drives, gives outsiders a possible path directly into your secured storage. To me it is too risky, and for that reason, I'm out.

Joe, Hello! Thanks for your comment. All credentials are handled through the respective services API so nothing is exposed as the service providers themselves handle everything. The program has only access to what you give it access to and is no different than other applications which are given permissions to use certain resources as per the user's discretion. It is safe to use and should raise any red flags. Thank you.

I can't seem to open the setup because it was blocked, and I don't have permission to use it. I don't understand why?

Dewet, Hi. If there’s enough demand may consider porting it to other office suites as well.

wosa, how do we know that this software does not sends copies of the docs to home base or at an hidden e-mail address. If the privacy is a concern, I would not install this software, to many weak points to deal with, like no e-mail address is ever secure, all of our e-mails are spied on by many Gov agencies and do not forget MSFT spying on us.
Anything you send online becomes public domain letter that can be used against us at some point in future.

Mike, Hello. Thanks for your concern about privacy. You may run your own checks to make sure the software is totally safe to use. I'm the creator and I stand behind it. No privacy issues whatsoever might occur as a result of using it - everything is transparent and was designed like this in mind. You set up the places where you want to save and these places can be all local on your own system - no internet what so ever! Moreover, you define which account you want to send mail from so it's all encrypted, especially today. Some parties may be spying on you - I'm not denying this fact, but not me - take a word of honor here.

Have a great day!

Mike,

Just to add a little bit of reassurance to your potential insecurities about this add-on, The software has not made any requests to access the internet so far. Not during install, not during my use of MS Word, and not upon using it to save a test document in multiple places at the same time.

About the only thing I can't test at this point is if maybe it has a delayed trigger, but the odds of that are pretty slim. I'd say it's safe. VirusTotal gives it an all clear as well.
