Kate, you don't mind it installing into a fixed insecure location on your system drive with no options to put it where it should be or where you want it on a secondary drive?

TK,
Believe it or not most folks only have a C Drive, I have a C Drive and a D drive. My documents go on my D drive and my OS and software on the C drive.
I am not sure what you think is insecure about the system drive though

Richard Woodley, I take it you either did not install this giveaway or did not pay attention while it was installing to see where it was put and the fact that it did not require elevated rights to install because where it installed on the system drive is insecure. On the system drive by default there are secure locations to install program executables and there are many insecure locations where executables should NOT be installed if you want your security layers to not be compromised. Right click on any softorbits installed program shortcut select properties and see where it points to and you will find ONE insecure location on the system drive. Out of curiosity do you keep your videos and images and Downloads on the system drive or have you moved their folders over to the D: drive too? Or do you put video, images, downloads all in the documents folder on the D drive and forget the proper folders? Did you move the Documents folder over properly via the context menu properties on the users Documents folder Location tab so programs know where to find it and it's still a protected folder location using windows ransomware protection?

TK,
Thank you I did not know that. I usually just let GOTDs install where they want, usually in the C/.Program Files/ or C/Program Files (x86) folders. Occasional a program might go directly under C, but that is a rarity. How do I tell if a location is insecure.
I do see my one SoftOrbits program is here:
C:\Users\richa\AppData\Roaming\SoftOrbits\Photo Stamp Remover. Does seem a strange place. Why is that "insecure"

Richard Woodley, locations that do not require Admin elevated rights or better to write into are considered insecure as they can be modified by the lowest permission processes/malicious processes. C:\Program FIles\* and C:Program Files (x86)\* folders and their contents are normally considered as secure as you can get under windows as they require elevation of rights to write files and folders to them. Softorbits business model is to try and get people who don't own the computers they use and so do not have admin rights to install unauthorised programs to install THEIR programs in the insecure location without regard that installing them makes the entire system more vulnerable to attack and likely breaks the terms & conditions the non-owner users are using the PC's under which could lead to loss of computer privs for children or disciplinary action for employees installing unauthorised software on the work PC without the IT Admins approval which could result in the person losing their job or worse if it resulted in tangible losses for the company.
