WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!! Never got the link for download via email over 6 1/2 hours! Also tried downloading via facebook - which required activation code to be emailed and of course it never was so I couldn't activate the program even after downloading it, just sat around waiting for an email that never came. Nobody here had any advice and emails to softorbits went unanswered, you'd think they'd try a little harder when they know they have a giveaway on. Very disappointing wasting over 6 hours of my time today and I don't get the program.

maddy, you know, you don't have to stare at your email inbox while waiting for the email to arrive, you can start other activities meanwhile...

Michael, you know you don't have to make sarcastic comments. I didn't even say I stared at my inbox the whole time, I said I sat around waiting - ie I wanted to go out for the day but had to wait for the email as I wanted the program. Of course I did other things on my computer and around the house in the meantime but it ws annoying to postpone going out given it was not worth it in the end as my waiting all day did not result in an email from softorbits.

Just got home, downloaded the software with no problem until I went for the activation. 9PM here on the west coast but "offer expired" shows on company website. GOTD shows almost three hours left.

Still waiting for email with link after almost 4 hours, multiple attempts to get it, one comment here to all and one comment here as a direct reply to softorbits hoping that way they couldn't miss it, and an email directly to softorbits support but no reply yet.

3 hours to go or guess I miss out due to this problem sending the link! :(

Their software is very aggressive on the registries, it ruined so many of my older software by inserting 1000s of entries and taking over of my previous defaults for other software.
I do not dare install any more of their software.

It's no better than Inpaint, Photoshops Content aware tool or any other watermark or blemish removing software. Registration was finally successful but this program is not worth keeping. It may not be the developers fault. The ability to remove objects and elements from an image is nowhere near perfect, no matter what program one uses.

Soft Orbits is on my list of software not to install because doing so unregisters your prior Soft Orbits software with no way to fix it. I think virtually every Soft Orbits program I wasted time downloading over the years had reverted to a trial mode before I ever got a chance to use it. So I stopped downloading Soft Orbits giveaways long ago.

I see that someone named "SoftOrbits" posted this below in response to someone saying don't bother downloading this:

"Dont bother, problem with activation was fixed long time ago."

Saying don't bother is an affirmation not to download this. However, I'm assuming they are not native English speakers and probably meant the opposite.

Can anyone verify if the problem deactivating prior Soft Orbits software has truly been fixed? Not until I see people confirm this is fixed will I try Soft Orbits software again.

Reply   |   Comment by Zach  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+11)

Zach,
"Don't bother" is the name of the poster of the comment that "SoftOrbits" is replying to.

I'm pretty sure that SoftOrbits support has an adequate grasp of English, but it comes down to the fact that people can choose what "name" appears in their comment, and that when you reply, their name appears, like "Zach," above...

Zach, 100% spot on. I have had exactly the same experience on my side. I couldn't have said it better. Soft Orbits is on my list of software to avoid.

Removing watermark from copyright material is a crime.
Anyone who uses this software for the advertised purpose should be fined.
The fact this appears on GOTD is reason for me to UN-subscribe.
I do NOT associate with criminals and/or those who engage in criminal activities.

Reply   |   Comment by TC  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-47)

TC,
Is this a crime, removing something red on the back of an animal:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10366431/_GOTD/SoftOrbitsPhotoStampRemover83_20161117/SnelleBewerking.png
Removing watermark is not always a crime.
Some camera's put a time-stamp on every photo: removing that is not a crime on your own photo.

Reply   |   Comment by Ootje  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+41)

TC, this software is not solely about removal of copyrighted watermarks and stuff, but also for removing unwanted objects from a scene, like wires, people, birds, you name it.
So is up to a user whether he will do something against the law or not.

Reply   |   Comment by Evgeny  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+24)

TC, What is wrong with you? It all depends on the watermark you are removing.

Reply   |   Comment by jim long  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+31)

TC: Hysteria alienates. Of course it's not a crime to remove a watermark from copyright material. I just did it now, using Photoshop to clone it out of a random image pulled from the 'Net. You need to calm down -- or launch an online petition to criminalise every one of the dozens of developers from Adobe to SoftOrbits and all stops in between for providing cloning / healing brushes in their photo editing software.

MikeR,

Read U.S. Copyright Law --> Chapter 5 specifically. § 506 (3)d under Criminal Offenses...

Quoting...

(d) Fraudulent Removal of Copyright Notice. — Any person who, with fraudulent intent, removes or alters any notice of copyright appearing on a copy of a copyrighted work shall be fined not more than $2,500.

TC, it's not the removing of watermarks that's a crime (doing so on your own computer is OK) - the crime arises if you then redistribute the image without the watermark! Especially if you try to claim it's yours.

Comparing this to Impaint, which is also circulating on giveaway, this one is slower but has pretty much the same removal quality, I would say Inpaint does a bit better, but it also depends on how accurate you select what to remove.

"Runtime Error (at 19:411): WinHttp.WinHttpRequest: The server name or address could not be resolved"

I did noticed, that the setup tries to connect to IP 162.243.116.64 .
You could do a Ping in the CMD-screen as administrator:
Ping 162.243.116.64
And see the results.
When I block the internet completely. I get the same warning:

SoftOrbits,

No it wasn't !
I've installed it on a computer, a laptop and a notebook. Win 7 and Win 10. On each device i opened the program first to see which version I had and all three notified me of an update, when I chose not to update the program closed.
So that leaves two choices, bad programming, or done by design to get the user to buy the program. Bad news whichever it is.

Would you kindly specify, since when exactly? And what do you mean by a "long time ago"?
How many weeks ago?

Sincerely,

consuella

i opened the program first to see which version I had and it said UNREGISTERED, when I chose not to REGISTER the program closed.

consuella: A reasonable question, a reasonable answer to which would go some way to restoring this developer's credibility. Inexplicably, it's still featuring images on its website which cannot be genuine before / after examples: as it acknowledges, its software majors on proximity pixel substitution -- so the conjuring up of blue stonework from non-existent pixels in the buildings example can only be alchemy, not algorithm.

Photo Stamp Remover is much more capable than the name suggests. You may need the included clone tool to clean up tiny stray areas missed by your painting in. I was amazed how efficient this little program is. Thank you SoftOrbits. (I have no connection with the company.)

When I try to install this software, I double click on the setup file, it opens the language sellection, which I let it be the default english, and the I get the following error:

Runtime Error (at 19:411): WinHttp.WinHttpRequest: The server name or address could not be resolved

Reply   |   Comment by idluckyone  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

idluckyone,
It could a problem with your firewall.
The setup needs contact to the internet.
And later on the program also needs the first time contact to the internet to assure it is OK.

Franzis: "explaining THERE ARE NO MORE LICENCES" (11/16/2016)

This morning (09:00 UTC/10:00 CET) I asked for a serial and I got one within 20 minutes.
And the ZIP of GOTD contains just a Setup.exe without a GCD-part.
Try to install it and find out

Reply   |   Comment by Ootje  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+14)

Ootje, I downloaded Photoworks at 02.45 GMT, and was sent an email straight away saying no more Licences available for 2-4 days, received my Licence by email at 07.39 GMT, I had to go back to the setup exe file to restart Photoworks and was then able to complete the install process, so anyone waiting for their Licence they should start getting them today, hope this helps anyone who came back to check on any update for the programme.
