I GOT Sketch Drawer from gotd 01 28 2013. Make good Sketchs from pictures with good detail, but not too good results from poor photos that are faded, I was pleased with results, but don't use it much any more, not being an artist.
Quote from Comment by Ashraf from dotTech — January 28th, 2013 at 3:02 am - Pros
*Turn your digital pictures into sketches easily
*Creates both black and white or color sketches, and has other types you can pick from
*Can batch convert pictures to sketches
*Tons of adjustable options to customize your output sketches
*Can adjust brightness, saturation, and contrast of input images plus rotate, flip, and crop
*Supports JPG/JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, ICO, TIF, TGA, PCX, and WMF image input formats

Cons
*Program crashed on me multiple times (twice, to be exact)
*Poor, laggy interface
*Claims to be able to take in PSD inputs but it won’t, as per my tests

I didn't have any problems that others mention from last time given away - worked fine.. have great holidays..

Ok Me Again Mark (Australia), Ouialaraison i should have mentioned that's how i new it Sketch Drawer was Unregistrated, with the Help/About, besides You HAVE to close the error box to be able to click on Help/About.
And Fran Thanks, now i know i don't need to be taken away in a white Jacket, as i'm not the only one with this Registered/Unregistered
Problem, you may be right about installing other newer versions, including other SoftOrbits software which may be messing up Their Software Licences?"

Installed the newer version of Sketch Drawer 2.0. Installed Fine and shows "Registered" the Only Drawback is lost of earlier PRO version.
Of Course Photo Retoucher 1.3 still shows as Unregistered, so will have uninstall a little later.
Thanks for your comments Guys. SoftOrbits thanks for the software, but please Fix Registration problems between your own products if?
that's the case??.

I downloaded this program this morning and it said the activation was successful. However, when I tried it out the pictures had a watermark that said "Unregistered Version" . . . So, I uninstalled it and will attempt to install/register it again.

Win 8.1,.. shows up as unregistered and wouldn't save a file. Restarted,... shows up at the top unregistered, but lets me save the file. Box pops up already registered. Guess its working.

Not clear how you got this to register. Did you re-boot your computer or just restart this crippled program?

I'm not sure if to download and try this version of Sketch Drawer 2,0, as i have Photo Retoucher 1.3 and Photo To Sketch Converter Pro
. Sketch Converter Pro Displays Sketch Drawer Pro, but the About shows just Sketch Drawer 1.4, So which is it? BUT MAIN PROBLEM with
BOTH software titles is that launching (starting) get an error message the same on both, something like error Already Activated.

BUT both show Unregistered Version, What gives? other words i can't use them. I had this same problem in the past with earlier versions
and after a couple of months of using, they get the same problem. i thought at first it might have been Ccleaner deleting the reg key values, but i keep an eye out for that and to stop it in case it was that causing the problem, but alas i don't know why it happens.
And been GOTD giveaways can't reinstall to fix them. So i guess it will happen again, if i install this version and after a couple of months get the same problem again? Hmmm would i have the same problem if i Bought a licence?

Mark, the error message ”Activation error. The license key has been already activated” doesn’t mean that the soft is no longer registered. Just click OK or close the window, then check in Help/About, it should still say “Registered version”. At least this is what happens for me.
And Sketch Drawer and Photo to Sketch Converter are one single program under two different names, cf my comment (post 8).

Hi, You are not alone to experience this strange behaviour of SoftOrbits! As soon as You download any newer version of Software from this Company it searches your computer for anything previously installed (also if obtained via different giveaways!) and messes up Licenses showing them as 'Unregistered Versions'.

Registered GOTD versions of SoftOrbits Software, or any Giveaway here for that matter, are AS GOOD as those BOUGHT (with usual limitations and understanding they can occasionally get lost), but if this is some cheap ploy on SoftOrbits' part to force Folk to purchase - it ought to be condemned. Sorry, not this way!. So called 'Activation errors' are not as common with other GOTD Offers as this one, so why?? I am tired of SoftOrbits making GOTD Users repeatedly so confused. It achieves nothing, but angry reaction! Please FIX IT.

I had version 1.1 as previous GOTD and it became unregistered in several weeks. I did not clean the registry nor installed anything else from that developer. It ia a clear developer's trick. I never will download from that developer again.

Like others here, I did have problems with previous registered copies flaking out on me at one time, but the problem has possibly been addressed by the developer. I've had version 1.4 on my computer for months and am delighted to see that the registration info has remained valid throughout. Needless to say, I got today's GOTD as well.

I agree with Mark (Australia) I have had the exact same problem with any and all software from this manufacturer, (SoftOrbits) over the last 2 years from GOTD! I have downloaded and installed a lot of FREE Software from GOTD over the past 5 years! And this company is the only ONE! (1) That after the Free download and install day is Over! The programs mysteriously become “Trial Versions!” I have paid for many of the programs that I use and like! Others that I just play with from time to time, and some are close to Five (5) years old from GOTD! And still registered and working fine! So, It is NOT ME! Or, My system, Or, Cleaners etc! I have contacted the company at least two (2) Times this year alone! And, To date, Have received NO Replies! Its a rip-off of the integrity of GOTD! I am Very happy with GOTD and this is NO Reflection on GOTD! Or, The software they put up for us everyday to test, Try and Revue for FREE! Thank you ALL! At GOTD! But! I have installed on the day of GOTD these programs from (SoftOrbits!) Retouch Pilot Ver. 2.0 1-03-13 Soft Skin Photo Makeup Pro. Ver. 1.1 8-26-13 Sketch Drawer Ver. 1.4 7-10-14 And, Batch Picture Resizer Ver. 6.2 10-02-14! All 4 of these applications quite working very soon after the GOTD offer was over! The most resent Batch Picture Resizer Ver. 6.2 On 10-02-14 Quit! Or Became unregistered the very next day! After the giveaway was over! As I stated, I have written E-Mails to the company and have yet to hear back from them! So, I would have NO Intention of buying there software and have it become “Unregistered Version!” Every time I change one of the apps? Or, Buy a second one! And it Un-registers the others? As stated above by “Fran” ? Ether way this is NOT Right! You are ether giving a version of your software away for FREE on GOTD! Or, You are NOT! I have many other apps from the same company's that I got from GOTD and they all still work fine! I have many Applications from Ashampoo! A lot of them I have paid for! Some are still the FREE GOTD! And they ALL Work as they did the first day I got them! It should NOT Matter How many of (SoftOrbits) Applications I get from GOTD! They should ALL continue to work! Maybe if they did? And I could use the full abilities of the Software I Would! Buy some of them! But! With out responding to a nice (at first) E-mails to the last one where I was a bit frustrated because they will NOT Respond to tell me to drop Dead! Or, Something! Anything! So? What about this? Will it be rectified? I mean its kind of a mute point now as I have found Good free ware that does the same thing and does it better! But, I would Like to know why? And WHY? I have not ever heard anything back about this? It does Work as stated and is worth having for fast photo fixes in the field etc. I just do Not! Agree with there Ethics! Hence, I will not use there products! To many other FREE alternatives out there anyway. Have a Great Day Everyone!, Take Care, Always Have FUN!!! Rick D.

Hi All, I would like to make an update to my above statement regarding (SoftOrbits) and this days GOTD Sketch Drawer 2.0! Well it been about 3 Days since this was offered on GOTD! And I am surprised to report that my Copy of Sketch Drawer 2.0 Is STILL REGISTERED! I did download it again on the day it was offered on GOTD, Just out of curiosity and my wounder if the Reregistration issue had addressed? And the problem corrected? Well, It looks like they have! I only hope I am not speaking too soon! LOL! (O; But! So fare? So Good! It installed easy like every time I have tried these applications from (SoftOrbits) and ALL Programs from GOTD! On my AMD 6 Core Bulldozer @ 3.4 GHz with 16 GB RAM, Windows 7 64 Bit! There is definitely some improvements from Version 1.4! Besides staying Registered for more then 1 day! (o; I tried some photos and I was very happy with the results! It does everything (SoftOrbits) says it does and does it very well in deed! At this point (If it Stays Registered? for say 6 months?) I may be interested in Buying the software and maybe some of the other applications they offer?

I just wanted to make this statement in all fairness to (SoftOrbits) as it seems they HAVE made some changes and improvements to there Applications? As for the other 3 Applications I listed above? They are still "UNREGISTERED VERSION!" and state that the Serial Numbers was already used, Or, Is invalid? And I have yet to get ANY Replays from my E-Mails to the company! I may send one more E-mail later this month if things continue to go well with the registration of Sketch Drawer 2.0 and try downloading the new version and see if there is any improvement? Maybe they are now answering E-mail as well as addressing the registration problems? Or, I hope so! Time Will Tell! At this point in regards to the Registration Going away after the GOTD is over with ALL (SoftOrbits) Applications on GOTD! I stand corrected! At least on this days offering and I just hope this will be a positive trend for (SoftOrbits)? I just wanted to let GOTD users know that maybe this company deserves another look at? And to try the next offering from them on GOTD and see how it goes? I know I will try again and I am hopping for the best! Thanks everyone for reading, May I wish ALL our US Service man and Women, Veterans living and past, A BIG Thank You! For all your service and sacrifice on this day! December 7th 1941-2014! A day of remembrance and reflection! THANK YOU! To All Happy Holidays! Rick D.

Hi, dear Friend David C, it bothered me yesterday.., so if You come back to read Your Post here and dwell upon how strongly 'objected' Your entry became - the only message down-voters were giving You was this: It felt discourteous on Your part towards well meaning Wisher, and NOT because You were defending Christian Faith and not everyone liked it! ------ It's a matter of good taste, not 'cowering behind' by saying nothing. There is time and place for everything..Christmas is very much my Holiday too in every manning of it, but I welcome Festive Cheer and Spirit of All Wellwishers. It's not 'political correctness' making us silent when we feel offended.. It's not even 'looking the other way'.. In this CASE it wasn't after all some 'have yourself a merry little crimbo' (all in small letters for better impact!)?? - INTENDED by User Mr All Rounder to have a dig at our Faith whilst commenting on Software? Hope You will take my words in more positive light. I myself never use 'X-' in Messages or Cards (exception being perhaps shopping list, but that's private and 'doodly':), so - Merry Christmas from me!

Why do we need to provide a name and address when you're sending out the same code to everyone. I got my sister to download this giveaway from a different url and she got exactly the same code as me, I also requested the code using two emails and got the same code. Seems more like netting thousands of email addresses which you can then sell on to other developers and advertisers.

Thanks for the heads up on Fotosketcher; downloaded it and I agree that it's a superior software. That said for free who can complain, today's software is simple to use and does have a place in my photo editing suite.

Thanks to Softorbit's and the giveaway guys for today's giveaway.

During installation, Sketch Drawer creates a Photo to Sketch Converter shortcut (rename it if your computer is full and your memory already declining, remembering one single name per program is already hard enough!), and then thanks us for having registered… Photo Resizer. The people at SoftOrbits are slightly absent-minded. Even on their site, they don’t seem able to stick to a name for this software. And, among other things, on the “buy now” page
http://www.softorbits.com/photo-to-sketch-converter/order.html

you can have the Pro version with watermarking and batch mode for $ 49,99 while on the “Compare editions” page
http://www.softorbits.com/photo-to-sketch-converter/order-editions.html

it is $79.95 you have to pay for the Pro version with these features. And when SoftOrbits facebook page claims that this new version 2.0 is a “major update”, in the absence of a changelog, you have to take their word for it.

(My humble message to you all developers: please, think of us potential customers, and provide easily accessible and detailed changelogs and information on differences between Lite, Standard, Pro, Business, whatever …)

Whatever its name, this “major update”, which can be done smoothly by installing this version over version 1.4 previously offered here, doesn’t seem to bring any noticeable improvement beside a nicer GUI, although there might be some which I didn’t spot during the quick look I had (is it faster? Previous versions were sometimes veeery slow on my machine, but I can’t compare, now that 1.4 has been erased).

Sketch Drawer Pro/Photo to Sketch Converter, as honestly hinted by both its names, turns photos into sketches and not into paintings, which is a big limitation, but within this niche the numerous settings offer infinite variations and combinations, in B&W or (not always brightly enough to my taste) colored. Still no preview window in this “major update”. When hovering over the 17 presets you see what they do on a default image, but you can only make guesses before clicking “run” on what you will get with your customized settings on your own image. It is a matter of trials and adjustments until you reach what you expect – or give up expecting it.

I personally confirm what has already been mentioned by others each time today’s GOTD has been offered here: the freeware (even for commercial use) Fotosketcher is by far the best in this category. (And this is NOT because the dev’, with whom I have no connections, is my compatriot.) Pleasant GUI: light OR dark background – I know it matters for some – a small preview window in real time with a zoom etc. The program creates a rich variety of pencil, crayon or ink drawings, water or oil paintings, posters, cartoons etc. Very easily, you can improve your source image (luminosity, contrast, etc.), blend the source image and the drawn/painted one in multiple ways, apply drawing/painting effects only on certain parts with a brush, add textures, frames and text, and there is a batch mode. A new version has been issued last october, the dev’ DOES keep a changelog – actually a blog describing the work in progress (on page “news”) and, icing on the cake, you can choose between installable (opt-out the toolbar) and portable:

http://www.fotosketcher.com
As I am an image manipulation addict, I negotiated with my poor stuffed-up computer keeping both a portable fotosketcher and an installed Sketch Drawer/Photo to Sketch Converter, plus the artistic filters included in most of the other graphics softs I have (including the very good ones in my preinstalled Photoshop Elements).

For now the registration code will be displayed directly on the registration page.

heinricus,

If you're using a Windows PC, you can use "System Restore to restore your computer to an earlier point in time" (prior to when you made the unwanted changes) to undo what was done. Search online or go here for more information: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/system-restore

If afterwards you change your mind or you simply don't like what was restored and you want to undo the System Restore, simply follow these instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/undo-system-restore

I've done both of these tasks many times and it's always worked perfectly for me, but I try not to make a habit of it.

I hope this helps.

Installed without problems on a Win 8.1.3 Pro 64 bit system. Not regtistered, did not accept my email address.

A Russian company with address, phone&fax from Smolensk. We had a previous version :
July 10, 2014 Sketch Drawer 1.4
Here are the old reviews:
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/sketch-drawer-1-4/

The .exe is still file version 1.3.0.0 and slightly greater the the .exe from the last GAOTD. Dear programmer, isn't it time to update the fileheader to the actual version?

The interface has been rewritten.

A resizable window opens, you add a photo and with the default option you start to convert it to a pencil sketch. Under options you can change the language and with the presets you have a detailed option to change the sketch drawing process to your impression. A picture on the left shows the effect of the preset (not of the actual picture)

My former opinion is still valid :

The Sketch drawer is a simple to use program. You choose your picture and choose a mode for the drawing process. That’s all, but is much to less for a good result. There is the most important tool missing, a pencil or a brush, where YOU define, which parts of the picture should be altered to a drawing. e,g. keep the eyes nearly original, the face as a color pencil sketch and the surrounding background as a rough and low contras black pen.

And they have removed the watermark feature again, which was included in the previous built.

I have uploaded a result. You know already, what is is. Yes!

http://www1.xup.to/exec/ximg.php?fid=17631695

A simple tool, does what it claims.
I replaced the former version, don't need the watermark feature. Maybe I'll get a key later...

I installed the program when it was offered last time and it registered OK. I liked the program and used it to create a sketch photo for FB. When I started the program today to see the version number, it stated, "unregistered version". I've had a number of GotD programs do this to me in the past.
