Do not know what all the complaints about registration key are about. Took me to the site, added email address, press get full version, then added a few details and key displayed on the screen. Cut and pasted, activated and installed without a hitch.

Downloaded & installed VERY quickly - registration went fast. Launched - it crashed immediately. Rebooted Win10, launched again. It took about 5 full minutes to render a standard JPG photo. Results needed improvement, so tweaked the settings and tried to run again - CRASH. This keeps happening - the results of the sketch vary, when it completes, but because of all the crashing and it's so slow to even show the preview... I'll keep it for now but can't imagine purchasing this unless it were stable.

Yes, I understand it's free!!! Wonder why their pricing is so expensive when there are many freeware programs that do the same thing --and more. Sketch Drawer does an excellent job but they should look at the competition and charge accordingly. Again, just wondering...

I'd prefer either just showing the effect on the image, or even a half option instead of the click and drag option. A side by side preview vs showing the effect would be preferred choices instead.

I see there is no 8bf file, therefore there is no way to use it as a plugin for Paintshop Pro, Photoshop etc. Wish that would be available in the future instead of having to use both programs separately. Doing that for 32 & 64 bit versions of the graphic programs would be outstanding.
Thanks for allowing us to make suggestions.

I suppose, that Sketch Drawer convert bitmap images into vector graphic file format. But I would like to know exactly what kind of images can be as a result of conversion.

I have downloaded this program twice, requested the password code several times with each.. Have not received it yet. And I did not do all that bang bang.. I gave it plenty of time. What gives?

Issue resolved, I had to use a different email address.. That makes no sense.

I have an older version of this program and for a freebie, there's not much to complain about. It works quite well.

Tried to install on WIndows XP machine, got a kernal.dll missing error and had to uninstall. Just my two cents.

OK, amend my comment to read kernel32.dll, or simply state that it DOES NOT work on WINdows XP if you prefer. I'm sure it is a fine program, but unfortunately it won't work for me.

Very quick and easy download, easy installation if you read the rules. Had this years ago, didn't use it often but it was handy now and again. Looking forward to getting to know it all over again!

P.S. Once upon a time, installing any SoftOrbits programme could uninstall previous things, but I have heard that the problem has been fixed now. Fingers crossed.

Basilica, I don't think the issue is fixed, I am getting problem in registering, it says I must register during giveaway period while there is plenty of time remained

muhozah, That's GAOTD standard protocol.

muhozah, Sorry to hear that! For me the registration went like clockwork. It has been several years since I've registered anything with SoftOrbits, though - I wonder whether it just ignores older programmes. One other thought - sometimes you can use a different e-address and still get the registration. Maybe you'd want to try that?

Used to be if you downloaded a Softorbits GiveAwayOfTheDay program SoftOrbits would deactivate the license of any other SoftOrbits Giveaway programs you had installed on your computer. This was, to put it mildly annoying, because they didn't tell you about this.

Does anyone know if this is still the case? Like, has anyone who has downloaded today's offering found that any other Giveaways they have from SoftOrbits are no longer registered/only trial versions?

Thanks for the info. I much appreciate it.

Yes, this is a good program, but I don't want to lose their photo background remover program I downloaded a while ago.

ArtG,
if I understand what you're saying correctly, you say there could be only one giveaway softeware working at any given time. Well, I currently have several (at least 6-7) software installed via Giveaway, and all of them work fine.

Reply   |   Comment by bio  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

bio, I think what ArtG is saying is that if you have a previous Giveaway from Softorbits, not necessarily Sketch Draw, they may disable that when you activate this one. So I ask you, are those other programs you are talking about from Softorbits? If you already have more than one giveaway from Softorbits, and they are all working, then the deactivation of previous Softorbits programs may have been stopped.

I have the 2018 6.0 Version of this software and can tell you it does some really good photo to sketch conversions with enough options to make any sketch a unique work of art. Today they are offering a 70% discount on the newest home version. A great deal.

This program UI is too simple (doesn't mean its bad), took a while for me to realize how to actually use this, as a user of complex image editing program i though that i need to select whole image with that rectangle selection until i realize it just for sampling and once you run the "Run" button there is no need to actually "Undo" before applying another preset on same pic but it kinda useful to see how each presets result (dev need to label those button with "CTRL+Z" for undo and "Shift+CTRL+Z" for Redo), aside from that this program functionality is pretty good can make lot of task to create one photo into sketch into a few click of mouse

Slick, easy to use program with limitless results. Only a person's imagination will
stifle this program.

Results aren't bad at all with plenty of options and presets, plus it doesn't seem to take ages to process even on my somewhat underpowered laptop. Could come in handy by saving time converting portraits to base sketches prior to working them up into oil paintings manually in an art app.

Version 6-0 is the one sold on website, so seems to be the latest. Version 2019 must be either a 'Lite' version or V 6.0 .
SoftOrbits do good, easy to use software with no learning curve required, but they are limited to doing only one thing. Their customer service is very good also, but having too many one-trick ponies on my laptop only clogs my desktop. Its best to have software that does several things.

Multiple use software is more cost effective. I want to fix my image contrast etc then straighten it up if its at a slight angle then maybe remove the mother-in-law and the dog doing a dump in the background. Maybe sharpen blurred faces and remove a few wrinkles and warts on the faces, color the grey sky a bit or maybe change background altogether. After doing all this then I would need to do one save only, saving and time money.

I remember MicroGrafx Picture Publisher used to do all this....and much more, like stitching etc. That was 20 years ago. Learning curve wasn't too intensive either. Unfortunately it was discontinued when bought over by Corel who replaced it with an inferior Photo Director, although it still works on XP and some versions of W7.

Adding to my post #2, the GAOTD download installs both 32 & 64 bit versions
whether the PC is 32 or 64 bit.

I already have Sketch Drawer 6.0 from a previous giveaway......this giveaway is called Sketch Drawer 2019.
In fact it's actually Sketch Drawer 6.0 (see their webpage).....so for me, no point in installing this giveaway.
Having said that, for those who don't have Sketch Drawer.....I totally recommend the program.

Is this version 2019 any different from last the giveaway, version 6? Once you download it, it usually wipes over previous downloads. I find most software versions marked in years instead of numbers tend to be light versions.

Best results on a normal photo is in classic mode and tweak the color and hatching. Also best, if your are over 30, to smooth the skin in another App or you will look like you climbed out of the crypt.
