Well - I was wrong -- There is a setting to include sound - Why it isn't the default I have no idea.
Still not sure about it - I did a short recording and it was OK - But every time I moved my mouse it recorded a yellow ball, Maybe that is another setting - I'll try to figure it out.
Still looking for a better video recorder as I have doubts about this one ever being 'Good' but it appears to be OK

2busy2, Yes, the 'yellow ball' is a highlight around the mouse, and is in the 'cursor' (2nd tab) settings when you click 'settings'. You can reduce this to around 30 or 40pixels - 60 seems quite large I think.

36 Total Ratings.
Zero comments.
I'm becoming concerned that users are submitting ratings based on whether or not they want (or need) software that will do what the manufacturer tells us it will do, instead of rating from their personal use of it after they download, install and use it.
Raters giving us reasons for their ratings would make GOTD much more useful.

Mike Henry,
Yes, it's so annoying. Why take the time to pre-judge a program by whether you THINK you like it before knowing or trying it out to give an appropriate evaluation. The percentage are usually only accurate when it's a program that's been offered before.

Dear Team,
Please include a shortcut or facility to take screenshots during the streaming and while recording.
Thanks

I can install, but the capture has no voice. I have been trying in the past 1 hour, using different parameters as provided. Unfortunately, no voice captured.

Toh Yi Ten,
After installing, run the software. On the screen, you will see a gear wheel named settings. Click on it to open a page. At the top, look for the legend Enable Audio with a box. If this box is empty, click on it to put a tick there.
Your recording now should have audio also.

Now that Zoom meetings are getting more common, being able to quickly record the meeting/screen is handy.
'Out of the box' (well, you get no box, but after initial installation) some default settings need to be changed. The 'highlight mouse cursor' is handy, but with a 60 pixel radius, it is quite large - when a menu option is selected, that tends to highlight most options. The recording size is also 1024x600 - which is quite small.
As graphical interfaces go, the simple 5 button affair is functional and colourful. The 'one click record' is actually two-clicks, as the initial click drops down a menu. Handy, but also a bit annoying if you always want to record the full screen. Having a split-button would be handier - click the main button to record and the side to drop down the options. Things like this tend to be due to programmers not using their own software so while they're not bugs per se, they are little gripes.
The recording outputs are limited - AVI or WMV. The plethora of WMV options is mind-boggling, and the dropdown of options isn't fun to scroll through.
I noticed the option to save the file was after the recording ended. This is a nice feature, but if the program crashes half-way, or you accidentally click 'Cancel', your recording of that important meeting is lost. Whoopsie. Other software records to a pre-set location 'on the fly', so nothing is lost. Hmm. Again, not used by the programmers.
So good software, let down by slightly poor implimentation.

Chris, Zoom has its own capture system.

Hott2, That assumes the host has allowed it. You can only record if allowed, and in some meetings, you may only want to record parts of it, not the whole thing. I used Zoom as one example - there are many uses of this program.

Hott2, The ability to capture with Zoom is controlled by the Host. They can turn it off. You can ask them to turn it on, but that is their prerogative. When Zoom is recording participants are warned that they are being recorded and can opt to leave, turn off video, rename themselves, etc. Recording without notification may be illegal in some locations.

Hott2, you obviously not able to record in zoom directly unless you're host or permitted by host

Hott2, it does but it warns the person you are talking to that you have activated the recording. That might or might not be what you want.

Good. Easy to install and very simple to use, unlike some other screen recording software i have tried. Do the job, with no frills. And lifetime license. Thanks
