This setup.exe wrapper is driving my crazy. I temporarily disabled AVG, exited my 3rd party firewall, even ended tasks on the processes that were still there and here's the message I typically get:
http://s409.photobucket.com/user/reghakr/media/Setup.exe%20has%20stopped%20working_1.png.html?filters[user]=84009672&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=0.
If not this message, the I get a "Failed to connect" error message.
What else can I do?

While on vacation, a portable card reader turned all my irreplaceable pictures into 8 folders and files with strange characters that are not even on a normal keyboard. They looked like this @δuú┴÷╦ and this ░═kSG╗.
I tried several recovery programs paid and free (Pandora, Recuva, Hetman, Ashampoo, 7 different ones in all) and the only one that restored my pictures was Testdisk 7.0/photorec. I kept the SD card just to test other recovery programs. Today's offering did restore the all the pictures. But Testdisk 7.0/photorec is free, so why pay for something that does the same job?

sorry Recover software, 180 days? No thank you.
Sounds like nice utility to have on hand but unlikely would be testing within a couple months. Chances are would be one time use before throw away card couldn't read.
From description, doesn't seem like would do any more than other, unlimited, restore software
