"1-year license for NEW Users ONLY" does this mean if you have EVER tried the software before, you cannot try this new version? I would think this would severely limit, the people who can take advantage of this offer.

Google already offers to remember your passwords Free Of Charge.
If you can trust Roboform on Cloud, then you can trust Google.
After 1 year of the giveaway, Roboform demands you pay $$$.
And even if you buy the software, after a certain time period, you have to pay to keep it functioning.
Which is the business model of Adobe and many others.
You can forgive this annual paying model for Anti-Virus software.
But you should not forgive for other computing functions like photo editing, spreadsheets and wordprocessors (Microsoft Office 365), etc....
Keepass free and portable seem to be able to perform the same task as Roboform.

Does anyone else see the problem of the Master Password also being the website login for their site and your account. They say if you lose your password no one can access the data, not even them. Well that's not true you have my Master Password and that also gives you access to all my personal accounts. You cant change your master password without syncing it with their servers. To much trust involved here for my level of comfort.

Also testing with sync and check for updates disabled Roboform is constantly phoning home and sending data. Why ???

Furthermore to register Roboform you must submit you name, phone number, and your full address. Why not just ask for my social security number and mothers maiden name why your at it ?

Nope, Nope and Nope. Thanks Anyway.

Roboform v7 was working very well for me until they upgraded to v8, they removed the portable version and forced you to create a cloud account if you want to use v8, I don't trust putting my master password on the cloud.

I used Roboform years ago when it was 'free for life' then they decided to charge for the product, and the meaning of 'life' suddenly changed, and meant nothing.
At least Dashlane honoured their 'free for life' commitment for existing users, which is why I'm with them. If you can't trust their words, can you trust their software?

I don't recommend Roboform. Once I bought it but when Chrome published a new version, Roboform stopped working. I asked "Why" and the answer was : "You have to pay again to make it work with new Chrome"!!!!!!!!
That was the day I blacklisted Roboform...

ibr ckr, You are absolutely correct. See my Reply under Comment #2

All complaints about RF wanting Ransom (even without Everywhere) are true! Every few years they stop maintaining version you bought. Your version STOPS working. They fix the problem and rename it a "new" version; they arm-twist you into buying the "new" version because the "old" version STOPS working.

Even without Everywhere, FoboForm is a Rental - Ransom- ware.
Good SW but not worth the ransom they demand every few years.

jeff - we're sorry to hear of your frustration regarding software updates and subscriptions. The nature of software is that it is ever-changing. We do our best to stay on top of industry trends and provide beneficial upgrades that will enhance security as well as the overall user experience. In order to remain competitive and to provide our users with the most up-to-date software, we do need to phase out older versions from time-to-time. With that being said, we do support older versions for as long as possible, and we consistently offer upgrade discounts/promos in addition to a several licensing options/pricing plans.

ibr ckr - We apologize for any incorrect information you may have received. RoboForm did and does work with Chrome, and it's usability does not require any additional purchase or upgrade. The only noted difference is that due to limitations imposed by Chrome, extensions (including RoboForm) are no longer able to display full upper toolbars. Additionally, please note, if you download the extension directly from the Chrome app store, the extension will function in standalone mode (limited functionality) if RoboForm is not installed. For unbridled access to RoboForm's features, download and install the application directly from our site.

Roboform is not telling the truth or he/she is very new in the company.
I am not talking about toolbar. Roboform can check my correspondance under my account (Lupusic) to see the truth.

RoboForm Free seems to be the same as before the cloud option, Everywhere, was introduced. I used it that way for many years and was happy since it got me into my accounts quick and easy. It will in fact work across your desktops and laptops but you simply need to copy the file from one drive to the others. Not an elegant way to update in today's digital world.
I have used Everywhere for several years and find it to be robust and feature full. Yes, you are putting your passwords on someone else's server. You trust them or not. I do, and am enjoying what has to be the biggest timesaver available. I used Stickey for a year as a long term trial but went back to Robo. Log-ins are trivially easy and it just works. I had a minor issue a few years back and the RObo team jumped on it and got be going again. The issue was because of having different local accounts and not the app itself.
I recommend it without reservation and my three year subscription makes it a bargain despite not being free. Those down voting are unlikely to have actually tried this software. Since this can really be a big timesaver, it is one of the few that I would say is well worth evaluating. You may never know what you are missing if you don't.

I have owned RoboForm for years and years but am getting tired with their annual fees. I have had Last Pass for a while and have sucked it up to pay their fees. I too, found Sticky Password and although it has quirks I haven't figured out yet, I got the lifetime deal for about $20 bucks. Once the others expire, I will keep them, only in whatever limited form is left. Plus Sticky password has the option for the passwords to never leave my machine and a local sync option for my phone.

CERTD,
I justify paying the subscription based on its value. So I drink thee less beers a year to get this amazing time saving application.

Roboform works better that Sticky password, at least for me. But Sticky password does have a portable version I use the free Roboform version 8 and have used previous paid versions. I do not use Everywhere because I don't want my info on other servers.
As far as no other password software can use your Roboform passwords , Sticky password can import your Roboform passwords. At least they claim that on their web page.

The developer wrote:
"Select a trusted contact to securely obtain access to your RoboForm data in the event of emergency
Share logins securely w/ trusted recipients"

What the developer is telling you, give us access to your passwords and we will keep an eye on your passwords.

This is enough to make you suspect the whole thing of password security in cyberspace and I believe the developer has back door access to your passwords whether you agree to it or not.

But now, you can have RoboForm hold you at ransome, every year in fact, it was a lifetime licence, now they charge, yearly and to put the icing on the cake, once you have trusted all your passwords to Roboform, no other password software can use your saved passwords, again, keeping you at Ransome, you have to pay yearly just so you can keep you passwords. It software like this that hold everyone to Ransome as they all start jumping on the same wagon to fleece us all.

It's good software, don't get me wrong, it you want to stay with just RoboForm, but there are others out there that can do the same job and share your passwords between them, without keeping you at ransome.

Karl,
You might consider using RogoForm Free. Unlimited passwords, all the critical functions (to me, anyway) and no need to trust anyone or their server. Everywhere is not their only option for those that are concerned about money and trust. I used it that way for years and not 'ransom'.

Karl - In addition to our subscription-based RoboForm Everywhere product, we do offer a free version of RoboForm. Also, should you a user choose to leave RoboForm, they are able to export their data to a CSV file.

I have been trying to activate this program for over an hour now. The instructions say to go to HELP and choose ACTIVATE RoboForm.
That is not an option. The only option is BUY RoboForm. Nowhere
is the option to add the registration key.

Roboform Everywhere used to offer a lifetime license and I have one. Then they updated to Roboform 8.x and reneged on those licenses. Roboforms Everywhere is a really good password manager for keeping your passwords synced accros devices but it that was kind of a dirty thing to do.

Reply   |   Comment by Peaches  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+42)

Exactly the same here and required major pressure for them to honor the "lifetime" license as they upgraded. Agreed Robo Everywhere is good, but expensive at $20/year now.

sticky password works better. you can buy a lifetime license. Roboform you have to keep re buying. I used Roboform for years until they started making you save your passwords on their servers

Reply   |   Comment by Alan  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+32)

Alan, " you save your passwords on their servers". Why would anyone want to do that? I love these companies that say we have the best security and encryption, then get hacked. Nope, no way, not a chance.

Reply   |   Comment by Tim  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+15)

Alan, FYI - RoboForm 8 is free and only stores your passwords on your computer in a highly encrypted file. Only when you add Everywhere (which allows syncing across computers/phones) to RoboForm 8 is the data stored on their servers and they start charging.

Reply   |   Comment by Stu  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+7)

Stu, I believe what Alan was referring to is Sticky Password can be used across multiple devices and does not store your passwords offsite.
Yes Roboform 8 is free but only on 1 device and to get to Sticky status, you must pay yearly for Roboform8 Everywhere, and your passwords are stored off your computer, on their servers. That is a huge red flag to me! Thanks, but no thanks.

Reply   |   Comment by DJ  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Stu,
And, you can still sync from one comuter to another by copying the .rfx files to the same folder on the other machines. I did that for years once a month or so depending on how many new logoins I created. Those that pop poo this have not checked into the options.

Reply   |   Comment by Al  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Stu, Where do you see Roboform 8 (without Everywhere) being free? A trial? 1 year? Lifetime.

All complaints about RF wanting Ransom (even without Everywhere) are true! Every few years they stop maintaining version you bought, call it a new version and arm-twist you to buy the new version because the 'old' version STOPS working.

RF, even without Everywhere, is a Rental ware.
Good SW but not worth the ransom they demand every few years.

jeff, Go to https://www.roboform.com/ and page down until you see the section with the large heading "An Option for Everyone". There you will see the zero cost option that includes Unlimited logins, Fills forms, Password audit, and Password generator. I've been using RoboForm 8 for free ever since version 8 came out. I can assure you I haven't given them a penny!

Reply   |   Comment by Stu  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Hi Alan - You are not required to store your data on our servers. You have the option to turn Sync off whenever you like. Please note, however, certain features such as Secure Sharing and Web Access do require the Sync functionality to be turned on.

Reply   |   Comment by RoboForm  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Tim - Security is our top priority. Our servers are located at a secure US-based facility with a 99.99% uptime guarantee by the hosting service provider that uses double redundancy for power and connectivity.

In addition, your RoboForm data is always stored encrypted on our servers with AES256, the strongest available encryption. Even in the unlikely event that our servers were breached, your data is effectively useless without the Master Password to decrypt it. For more information regarding RoboForm security, please visit: https://www.roboform.com/security

Reply   |   Comment by CERTD  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

CERTD, You don't need premium with Lastpass. The storage is unlimited with free version and it works both on PC and mobile. Plus the web interface is very convenient. I see no reason for a person to upgrade. Business functions are locked, but we are talking about personal use here.
Roboform locks your passwords without means to migrate to another platform, keeping them as hostage. Lastpass has export options.
