Can anyone please put me through how to do: Precise Track Splitting. That is, separates the vocals from the instrument tracks.
I have tried but cant find documentation on that part of this Replay Music program.
Thanks in advance.

Sam Dan, I went through the User Guide and did not see Any mention of Track Splitting, though they do list it in the ad copy on today's GOTD page. applian.com/replay-music/support/user-guide.pdf
They offer a number of videos, but I didn't see anything there either. It's possible that they may have more videos on their YouTube channel though. applian.com/support/videos/

Sam Dan, https://applian.com/support/videos/replay-music/inserting_silence
"How to Improve Track Splitting and Tagging By Inserting Silence.mp3 into Your Playlist"
They define track splitting as splitting into separate songs. Not the splitting of vocals and music. I would have liked to get Elvis Prestley singing a capella.

gergn, This is directly from their website..
"Precise Track Splitting. Separates the vocals from the instrument tracks without jeopardizing the sound quality. "
So you ARE supposed to be able to separate the vocals from the instruments

Steve, I understand "separates the vocals from the instrument tracks" NOT to mean "splitting a track into a vocals track and a instrument track". I assume that they mean if you have a recording of first a vocal, followed by a non-vocal instrumental track, the software can split these two. Just by being triggered by the short silence between the two.
If you have a recording of both vocals and music, and parts with only music, you can do a frequency analysis of the music and then use that to filter the music from the combined track to get the pure vocal part. Next, you can de a frequency analysis of the vocals and then use that to filter the vocals from the combined track to get the pure music part. That is what I would do manually with Audacity.
Perhaps Stemroller (see below) has automated that procedure.

Question:
Does this program record/output different bit rates and file formats? I have perused the images, descriptions, and the home page. The only reference I could find was the 128 kbps MP3 image.

Sid, MP3 can be between 32 and 320 kbps. Next to MP3 you can save in FLAC, M4A, MP3 VBR (variable bit rate), OGG Vorbis, WAV and WMA.

"Does this program record/output different bit rates..."
I **think** that it may depend on the recording mode. Skimming through the User Guide per Sam's question, it seems it can save the stream as-is, meaning you get the original audio file as it was streamed, and could then resample/re-encode as needed, *probably* using another app. The catch is that won't work if your PC/laptop/tablet has Secure Boot enabled. Or Replay Music 2024 can record the audio routed to your speakers, and you should have your choice on sample rate, bit rate etc. The catch there is that some audio drivers won't let you -- it's a means of DRM -- though you can hunt up 3rd party drivers just for that.

Finding freeware that matches the extensive feature set of Replay Music can be challenging. However, several free software programs offer similar functionalities for recording and managing audio from various sources. Here are some notable alternatives:
1. Audacity
Recording and Editing: Audacity is a powerful open-source audio recorder and editor. It can capture audio from various sources, including streaming services and system sounds, and allows for extensive editing.
Noise Filtering: It offers noise reduction tools to eliminate background sounds.
Track Splitting and Tagging: While it doesn't automatically tag or split tracks like Replay Music, you can manually split and add metadata.
Platform Support: Available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
2. OBS Studio
Recording: OBS Studio is primarily known for video recording and live streaming, but it also has robust audio recording capabilities.
Filters and Effects: Includes audio filters for noise suppression and gain control.
Track Management: OBS does not automatically split or tag tracks, but it can record multiple audio sources simultaneously.
Platform Support: Available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
3. Stream What You Hear (SWYH)
Recording: SWYH allows you to stream and record audio from your PC to various devices.
Ease of Use: Simple interface focused on streaming and recording.
Limitations: It lacks advanced features like automatic tagging and track splitting.
Platform Support: Available for Windows.
4. Mp3tag
Tagging: Mp3tag is not a recorder but an advanced metadata editor for audio files.
Bulk Tagging: It can edit tags for multiple files simultaneously and retrieve metadata from online databases.
Platform Support: Available for Windows and macOS.
5. SoundTap Streaming Audio Recorder
Recording: SoundTap records any audio playing through your computer.
Clean Recording: It filters out system sounds and focuses on capturing audio cleanly.
Tagging and Splitting: Does not provide automatic tagging or track splitting features.
Platform Support: Available for Windows and macOS.
Summary
While freeware alternatives like Audacity and OBS Studio offer robust recording and editing capabilities, they lack some of the specific features of Replay Music, such as automatic track splitting and tagging. Combining tools like Audacity for recording and Mp3tag for tagging may provide a comprehensive solution. For users needing precise track splitting and tagging similar to Replay Music, investing in a paid software might be necessary.

Alok, That software does a reasonable job with a live recording of Elvis Prestley, singing and talking with a noisy public. But it fails completely to separate the choir and the organ with a recording of the Gloria of Missa Brevis of Jacob de Haan. My wife is currently singing that mass with her choir.
