This is NOT intended for use on any publicly accessible network. It is unaware of windows firewall profiles for public and private networks, end user beware when installing this on a laptop that might spend time connected to non-private WLANs like airport, library, cybercafe or town and city wifi... those places are unsafe and servers like this should not be exposed on them.

All PCs on my LAN are connected through ethernet plugs and the TP Link app shows them all. But this program cannot see any on the four.

col, you need to install the program on each of the client computers for them to be seen... in theory.

How does it handle UAC prompts on the remote computer? Hopefully it does not demand one disable UAC prompting as that is a valuable security layer.

This appears to be remote desktop software which can also display several computers at the same time. The big hurdle for me to use any remote desktop software which can grant anyone on the Internet full access to my computers is I must be able to trust the company who wrote it not to be nefarious and to have implemented security properly.
Unfortunately I know too little about this company and software to risk installing it on my PCs. That could be remedied if there were lots of comments on these giveaways to allay my fears before the giveaway ends, but detailed comments are rare.

Joshua, Whaaaat? This surely wouldn't be written by one of those overseas nations who would love to have easy backdoor access to turn machines into bots. Pinky promise and everything!!

True, but you *might not* be paranoid enough. Microsoft includes Remote Desktop in Windows, which has suffered from a string of vulnerabilities over the years [Google for examples]. And they're the experts when it comes to Windows security -- 3rd party software, e.g., Team Viewer, are often a part of cyber criminal exploits. You basically have to evaluate how badly you need remote access vs. the increased vulnerability footprint.

Joshua, Not hard to find out that PCWinSoft is based in Costa Azul, Brazil. So I am sure there is enough for all of us to use and decide from that information.

As I understand, most home systems are wireless, while a LAN system is hardwired.

Hott, LAN = Local Area Network; WLAN = Wireless Local Area Network. While WLAN would identify a wireless network, LAN has come to encompass (particularly in home environments) both wired and wireless networking.

Hott, WLAN or LAN or hybrid which is what most domestic systems are... WLAN can be configured to isolate clients so broadcasts are not shared between clients and clients do not see each other BUT that is not normally the default. The default for WLAN mimics wired LAN. Personally I'd just patch the terminal services DLL and use windows remote desktop on my hybrid network.

Neil, I do agree, but in the description I did not see a "WLAN" mentioned......... just LAN.
