Here is why this program is a failure.
1. LAN connection only. I can use for free Remote Desktop (RDP), VNC, or several other more robust programs. These programs work across the WAN (remotely across the globe if you want it to).
2. The installation of its own "client" its very chintzy. There is no installer, you have to run 2 programs to get it to work.
3. Scanning the LAN doesn't find the client. Manually adding an IP address worked.
4. No file transfer or other extra tools, such as View Only mode, Task Manager, Chat, Messaging.
5. Zero security to password protect the workstation. Zero methods of authentication.
6. Lack of quick auditing to see who connected to the workstation, when and where.

For these reasons and more, I will pass on this Giveaway.

When it is advertised as being able to "connect to computers directly by IP address", if they other computer is remote and is one of the computers on the LAN of the router at the remote site, what exactly is the IP address to which one connects? (Assume more than one computer at the remote site has this program's client installed.)

Does the PC you want to remote into always have to be signed in or will it always be ready?

Martin, It is for private use.

Sparky, and Martin, That is, for non-commercial use. Just like TeamViewer. Some users, when they have helped several friends get blocked because they look like a business. People I have heard from with that experience contact the vendor and explain and get unblocked.

So where do you get the client to install on the other computers on the LAN? Or do you install this program on all the computers? I am confused. I checked the pcwinsoft.com web page and didn't see anything about a client program to install.

spacecon, client must be installed on remote computers. you can get the client here:

How does this compare to the free VNC Viewer?

Reply   |   Comment by Chris  –  Last year  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Chris, VNC Viewer can be used over the internet if you really want whereas this is best used over a LAN only.

It just sits there and does nothing. I'll stick to Teamviewer.

Can the developer (or someone who knows this application) please confirm whether Remote Control Pro supports sending (or sharing) files and/or folders between locally connected computers?

If not currently possible, introducing this useful feature would be my suggestion to the developer.

Thanks

Portable, if you are on the same network and have the appropriate credentials you can use the UNC path to access the files on another device. Ex: Point your file manager to \\Hostname\c$

On the official information site I do not read anything about security. Other tools, like the free Anydesk, do give you the possibility to restrict access to users knowing the access code and using PC’s you allow to connect to your computer.
