Dear GOTD users,
for the registration page to work, please make sure that you use the same browser for the archive request and key request and that your browser saves cookies. Also please request the key and don't close the previous download page in your browser during the page visit.

IT DOES NOT SELF REGISTER.
When we open the readme file, it gives a URL where we should be presented with a web page, where we enter our email address.
Submit that and it is supposed to send an email containing the key.
I use my fastmail email in Bing for giveaways of the day.
I used the url (we got in the readme) in chrome, and it only opens the giveaway page.
I went to Bing and used that same URL (from the readme file), and THAT does open a special page for you to type your name, and email address.
That worked, and I received an email with the registration code

recovery for deleted data and recovery for emptied recycle bin produce the same results here despite the fact that I don't put files in the recycle bin and therefore don't need to empty it... It also does not recognise purely text files by their known text contents... e.g. it does not allow preview of .inf files even though they are always only text in nature like .ini and .txt files... It does not offer scanning of a drives backup image file like one created by dd or similar tool where you want to do a forensic recovery and not change the original drives contents.

It's always amazing how people will either ignore the file ReadMe.txt or worse READ IT and ignore what it says about GETTING THE KEY and APPLYING THE KEY.

Andy J, the only time it goes wrong for me is if I leave out the final "/" in the URL GAOTD could fix that using a .htaccess rule.

I had only 1 weird issue when installing. It sent me to a page to get the reg code as normal. After the install I entered the code supplied as normal and it registered the software. I have not yet tested it. The only weird thing on the first try to install it locked out the "install button". I do not install to my C drive so I assumed that was a restriction. I killed the install and tried a second time. This time I used the BROWSE button to modify the directory instead of typing in the path and it allowed it to install to a residual drive. Like I said weird.

Check the readme file. There is a URL to request the code.

lee, read the readme file. you have to visit GOTD to verify email, get code from email, start program, Resgister from top title bar , input code. I don't want to appear to be snarky, but readme files are actually there for a reason and yes, i know GOTD readme is USUALLY the same disclaimer, but as the old saying goes, When all else fails, try reading the instructions.

It seems it self registers, as the About in menu says i have installed the Pro version. ie says 12m in the readme file.

ray hines, Mine says trial version, not pro after installation

ray hines, mine is still saying "Trial".

ray hines, I got the key by browsing to the reg page and entering my email address. Once the key arrived, I entered it in the Register menu.

(For some reason, the install didn't create a menu entry for the app. I found it by browsing to C:\Program Files (x86)\Auntec\RecoverXData and running the exe.)

I ran a quick scan, and it was really quick. I didn't need to recover anything, so I haven't tried that step.

ray hines, It doesn't self register here! Says it's the trial in the title bar and About screen and the readme.txt file tells us to get the key using the URL provided in the file and register the program using the register option.
