Angie , yes it can but only on 64bit systems as the util avifdec.exe is a 64bit executable so cannot run under any 32bit edition of windows.

Can it convert HEIC to jpg?

Eugene, Under Vista it failed to read the .HEIC file, no thumbnail either whether that is a compatibility problem with a 3rd party utility or not I cannot be sure their published list of formats supported DOES include HEIC under advanced image formats on page https://www.reaconverter.com/features/formats.html and HEIF but their utility appears to be incompatible with 32bit Windows Vista. Your mileage may vary depepnding upon what version and edition of windows you have.

this newer version 7.8.33.0 re-used the license previously entered for giveaway version 7.5.15.0 obtained 10th Aug 2019 so check Help | About to see if you need to enter a new license code :-)

Hi,

Had to run the program with "run as administrator" option to allow it to write to \ProgramData\reaConverter which is a first for me. I think that the security gremlins are OVERPROTECTING me. :D

I registered, but when I try and activate it with my name and code I get this error: Unable to write to C:\ProgramData\reaConverter7\670065006E0069007300.std
What can I do?

Downloaded program, I generate key, but error message appear every time - Unable to write to: C/program data/reaconverter7/xxxxxx.std

If you don't care for ReaConverter, XnConvert is great alternative. It's freeware and with over 70 outputs formats. I've been using it for years and never had a image it didn't like.
