RAID Recovery can handle most issues with RAID arrays and Dynamic Disks. No matter if the failure was caused by hardware or software malfunction, damaged disks or failed RAID controller, RAID Recovery can re-create the array and retrieve information with or without the original controller. With Raid Recovery, you can recover data from RAID arrays of all types.
Hi Everyone,
Well, Installed RaidLabs File Uneraser 2.1 on a AMD 6Core Bulldozer Black edition 3.4GHz with Windows 7 64Bit, With no problems at all! registration was immediate and easy! The program works OK and does have some strange characteristics as described above from other revues, That it lists files that are NOT Missing? Or Deleted etc. This gives a confusing mixture of deleted and not deleted Files! The Files NOT Deleted would not need to be shown? So, The program is somewhat confusing and hard to understand and use efficiently!
The other thing that was a "Thumbs Down!" for me! Is it stats in the description that: "File Uneraser can undelete files from all types of storage media including memory sticks, digital cameras, flash drives, USB drives and pretty much any other type of a storage device you can connect to your PC and access as a drive letter."
It does NOT! I tried everything I could think of? Or, That was available in the program options? And it will NOT see any internal? Or, External CD-DVD-ROM Drives! These are Logical drive that have Drive letters on my PC of E: And F: and it does not show any CD-DVD-ROM Drives in the menu of the program? No matter what kind of CD? Or, DVD I put into any of the drives and no matter if it is Good? Or, I need files recovered from it!? So it is of no use to me! I just think they need to correct there verbiage as to what there software will read and will NOT Read! I would not of been happy to have paid for this and had it NOT Read CD-ROM Drives! But then , That's why we have GOTD and the revue process so we can find out what if good and Not so good! Right?
Thank you GOTD for the offering, As always I appreciate your hard work to bring us programs and utilities every day for us to test, try , revue and use for as long as we like for free! Thank you! Everyone, Take Care, Always Have FUN!! Rick D.

...and RaidLabs File Uneraser not uninstall with Revo uninstaller

Raz X, As a long time user of Revo Uninstaller Pro I am curious to learn more about what happened when you attempted to uninstall today's offering. I have run into programs where I had to use the forced uninstall option of Revo UnInstaller but so far I have never encountered a program that it couldn't get rid of with a little effort. Did you try try the forced uninstall option?

Go into the program folder and click on "uninstall.exe"
The software is not shown at all in the Revo Uninstaller list of programs inside your PC. Thus you cannot use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall it.
After I did that, used RegSeeker to search for remnants of the Raidlabs File Uneraser software. It found many entries left behind. Deleted those.

Dear GOTD Moderator:
The GOTD website "Comment preview" box does not work for the new "reply" feature.
It does work for original posts, but you don't get one while posting replies.
This is important - especially so when bold or italics are used as these must be used with matching start/end tags and if they are not matched you might overlook it and end up with improperly formatted text.
It is nice to have the "Comment preview" display box appear for both cases.

So many hacker attacks penetrating even major websites lately. I won't be inviting a potential Trojan horse onto my modest PC, especially with RAID emblazoned on the side. But maybe that's just me. BTW, a CDN address is no guarantee that Canadians produced anything. We have lots of Chinese, Russians, you-name-it here now.
I don't need an uneraser anyway. When I erase something it's because that's exactly what I intended.

Some Tips to be followed (for new users ):
1) Firstly don't install this type of undelete programs to disk from which you want to recover / unerase files. Install it to a floppy disk if no other disk is available.
2) To prevent the deleted files to be overwritten, you should avoid any use of the disk where the file was deleted, until after the deleted file is recovered.
3) Try to keep your disk in good shape by regularly defragmenting it. This will increase the chanches of file recovery.
One more thing , When you wipe free space of your Disk , after which any deleted file will be in very healthy state. This will help you certainly. So, when you have nothing to recover or you have recovered the required files and there are so many overwritten files in the disk then you should wipe the free space to keep it fresh from overwritten / unrecoverable files. In some undelete program ' wipe disk' option is available. Otherwise you can use any wiper program.

Dear Jahid,
All in all pretty sound advice for the most part, but one thing bothers me:
How are we to install this to "floppy disk"?
Three points/problems:
(1.) Program is 17MB but a floppy disk holds less than 2MB. - Can you span the install over 9 floppies?
(2.) What computer today even has a floppy drive?
(3.) Where do you buy new blank floppy diskettes?

When you delete a file, the space where the data was stored is marked as "available". Until that space is re-used, the data is still there, which is how this sort of program can undelete the file. If you install this program onto the hard disk, your operating system will be looking for a space in which to store the program, and may decide to store it onto the space marked as "available" by the deletion of the file you are trying to recover!
If you truly have no other way to store this file, you could install it anyway and take your chance that some other "available" data storage area might be used. If you have already installed this program before you deleted the file, you don't need to worry -- except the longer y
Most computers these days do have a USB connector, so you could install it to a thumbdrive. The problem there is the "installation" process will probably write lots of "installation-related" files all over the hard drive even as it installs the actual program to the thumb drive, with the same risk that one of those other files would over-write the file you are trying to recover. You could install the program to the thumb drive on another computer, but this would only work if the program has a "portable installation" setting, otherwise it usually won't work on any other computer than the one you install it to.
Computers these days are constantly putting data onto the hard drive, even when you don't ask them to, meaning that the longer the computer runs, the higher the chance the "available" space used by the file you want to undelete will be used for something else, at which point the data is gone.
If you have deleted an important file that you must get back, it is important that you avoid overwriting the space that file used. You might even turn the computer off. There are bootable images that can be installed to a CD/DVD/thumb drive (ahead of time or on another machine) that you can use to boot the computer, that won't write anything to your hard drive and do have the undelete program on them. The undelete program can then find the deleted file on your hard drive and (with your permission) recover it on the hard drive, so when you re-start your computer the regular way the file will be there.

Reply to : Mom's Basement
You have correctly pointed it out.
You are actually right that the floppy disks are now obsolete and even almost all modern computers have no support to diskette.
But I wanted to indicate any disk ( USB Flash disk or External Hard disk or
Optiarc Disk Drive etc ) other than the disk from where the files are to be retrieved. In that sense I apply the term 'floppy disk' rather casually though it is really a wrong application and indication.
Interestingly it is still available in market . I am the customer of Amazon Seller. I can only refer to Amazon.com where it is available , I've checked, even in my country also.
Thank You

I personally have not found a true recovery to recover all items as most of them claim to do. This one just doesn't hit me as one of them, thanks anyways GOTD.

I don't like the name as it seems misleading. The program can ONLY recover deleted files, not erased ones.

Will this unerase files on a 5 1/4 inch floppy disc formatted FAT16?
Save | Cancel
The functionality should be the same ... as long as it has not been RE-formatted since the delete.
Save | Cancel
If by wiped you mean overwritten when they are gone, if you mean all deleted then there would not be a mixture of deleted and not deleted, if it was a mixture of deleted and not deleted those not deleted would not need to be shown. :-)

Well XP-Man, normally I would tend to agree with you about such a programme -- ie. if it brings up EVERYTHING, whether "deleted" or not, it wouldn't be very useful.
But imagine this: Some nice kind person has purposely wiped your hard disk -- and even OVER-WRITTEN the previously-existing files.
At that point EVERYTHING is up for grabs -- so you might want to give it a go.
I haven't yet -- but since I am in the position just described -- I will indeed.
That will be an acid test....

Budy, XP-Man was saying something else... as far as I understand from his comment ... that it was showing also, the files that were not deleted at all from that location or from the Recycle Bin. It was a total different situation from the situation you are on ... so sorry to read about your situation.
If something helps, maybe you should keep your personal files in a Google Drive/Dropbox/Box sync-folder and work with them from there... or use a mirroring software to mirror from time to time your personal files with that/those folders. Like this, you only risk, and could be the only risk, loosing only the present-moment work. That is ... if you cannot/do not like to save them on an external hdd.
Good luck.

The list would have all deleted files in it as there would be no files left on the disc. Your argument is invalid.

Installed and registered with no problems, decided to check thumb drive, results almost instantaneous.
Did a deeper scan, still pretty fast, amazed at the number of files it produced, would not preview many of the supposed JPG files, lots of them, was the same with EXE files.
Still somewhat confused by the number of files produced, thought I'd have a look at other people's comments and went to the link as shown in #1 PhilS’s comment.
This explained why there were so many files, it was showing files that had not been deleted!
When you're looking for a few files that have been deleted and you mix them up with hundreds of files that haven't been deleted and show no differentiation between the two you have pretty well defeated the object of the exercise.
In my opinion the lack of differentiation between deleted and files that have not been deleted make it a waste of time and of disk space, uninstalled!

For those on slow internet connections, tomorrows game giveaway is quite large at almost 400MB. I thought it a good idea to warn community members so that they could start downloading early. It's a game we've not had given away before and is from one of the two main contributors so will probably be a decent quality game.

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.3 Pro 64 bit system.
We had had a previous version on February 24, 2013. Here are the old reviews:
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/file-uneraser/
A Canadian(?) company with address and ... several names under the same address.
Name it "RaidLabs Inc. Company" or "WizardRecovery Company" ot "1st File Undelete" or "MiniTool Solution Ltd" or "NTFS Mechanic" or...
No, this must be a Chinese company.... LOL
This is still the same software from July 2012, which I have commented several times. The impression does not change. It is still a good recovery software. Maybe you can add some more names under which this software is promoted.
No, I did not test it today. I just wanted to see, whether it is the same 2012 version. It is! Have a look at the different homepages. You see?
Uninstalled via reboot.

Haven't yet tried any paid program for file recovery. I never feel the requirement of that because some Nice and Effective FREEWARE Programs have been serving that purpose very efficiently.
( 1 ) Restoration is a very little but efficient file recovery tool. Here You Can Read Softpedia Editorial Review of Restoration
(2) Undelete 360 ( I mostly use this and till now I have recovered approximately 30Gb files from hdd and Flash Drive )
(3) Recuva -Portable - A popular Program from well known developer Piriform.
(4) WinUtilities Free Undelete - It has the explorer based GUI. A handy tool , in certain cases more powerful than Undelete 360 and Recuva.
(5) Puran File Recovery and (6) Bplan Data Recovery Software - These two program claim that they can recovere files from formatted disks too but I've never succeeded to recover anything from formatted disk.

Nice list. I bought one program that I'm very pleased with - RecoverMyFiles. It's wonderful. I also use TestDisk and PhotoRec (they should be on your list!) which are perhaps the most powerful free tools around, although not the prettiest (they're without a GUI and with few options, but can recover files from just about any kind of file system reliably.)
