For a long time I had trouble with video buffering on sites like CNN Money and I could not figure out what was slowing me down but ever since I installed Windows 10 Privacy Protector there has been no slow down or buffering. Just seamless video. I am guessing that all the tracking and telemetry was hogging all the bandwidth not allowing any for me. I wonder if I can bill them for data usage. lol

In the list of things that this privacy app blocks is "Media Center". That's strange because Windows Media Center NO LONGER EXISTS in Windows 10!

DL'd/installed ok. License went in ok- or so I thought! Why does this have the word "promo" in a small red box at the bottom of it's main window? Also, why does clicking on the same little "promo" box bring up an offer to purchase this software's 'full' version? I already registered this one as a "full" version! Something is off here! I have a hard time trusting software that appears to not be what's advertised (IE: "full" version/"promo" version!). I'll likely uninstall.

Ever since Microsoft's so-called "Windows 10 Privacy Statement" said this:
"We will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders)"
computer geeks the world over have joined in common cause against the giant American corporation's business practices, hence why there are 100s of pages on the Internet devoted to how-to-protect-yourself-against-Windows 10. All this is in the public domain; there is nothing to stop any commercial developer from taking the freely available information, writing software to automate the tasks identified by others, and then selling it.
Such may well be the case with today's software from SoftOrbits, a developer that -- ironically -- has earned anything but an inspiring track record when it comes to customer confidence in its own practices (as various complaints on GOTD have often confirmed.) Still, at a price of $0 today and $39.99 on re-install or renewal, "Privacy Protector 2.0 for Windows 10" may on the face of it seem a not unreasonable proposition.
Unfortunately though: a host of freeware already exists to do for nothing that which SoftOrbits seeks to charge for, amongst them an offering from the same people who brought SpyBot Search & Destroy to the marketplace many moons ago:

and, because of that user base, is able to keep up with Microsoft's disreputable tactics of re-enabling, via seemingly innocent "Windows Updates", privacy protections settings that may earlier have been disabled by protective software.
Given the reality that SpyBot Anti-Beacon is free, comes from a long established developer, and is backed by a worldwide user forum, it's hard to see why SoftOrbits is even bothering to compete at $39.99. Thanks then, GOTD, and thanks, SoftOrbits, but no thanks.

Seems a good program, but seems very expensive (normally) for what it does considering there are many (often free) alternatives.
It would be nice if it could show some indication when it has done the changes (maybe a tick next to each item it has changed). When I ran it, it said I had a newer version of OneDrive installed and needed to uninstall that first, so it unclear whether it did any changes after that.
It blocks a lot more domains than, for example, SpyBotAntiBeacon, but I find SpyBotAntiBeacon far more intuitive to use.
In in all a good program, but I doubt many would buy it at its current price, when there are many cheaper apps around.

If I install will it automatically run and make some changes or can I decide to allow it to make changes within the program? Saw the screenshots showing a list, are these all the changes that I decide and nothing done automatically?

Unable to install, get message; 'Unable to execute file in the temporary directory.Setup access aborted - Error 5 access is denied. I moved this to desktop and still get the same response. Is there a specific folder/directory where this wants to be?

I read the list of activities the program manages and it is quite large. For a novice like myself or maybe the average user, is there simple command to this such as an on and off switch? Also I would not be interested in an irreversible action or to have to create a restore point for its usage. Does this interfere with other programs such as antivirus suites? I am interested in privacy that automates certain activities, does this do that, and not so much a program that forces me to investigate the details of specific issues.

I use the (free) GWX Control Panel from Ultimate Outsider on all our systems, and it has proven very useful. Simple button clicks for all the optional functions, plus real-time monitoring, which is how we have it set up. Also offers the ability to remove any of the W10 modules it happens to find.
I will give this one a try on our Lab Rat system, just to see if its capabilities are in any way superior to GWX...

Nigel, Destroy Win 10 Syping has not been updated since Sep 1, 2016,hence it doesn't block the latest MS spying functions.
Also, 0 & 0 Shutup, 13 Dec 2016 was last update, making it useless in blocking the latest MS spy features that were released since then.

The reason this isn't done already is because there's inherent distrust that the options actually do anything. With no source code to verify, and data to MS IP ranges still seen with them switched off, and the fact that they're all on by default, there are no favors being done here...

That's not a bug, it's a feature.

I'm at the point where "updates=security" is a questionable equation. Updates are just as likely to break things, and if they are re-establishing telemetry, then they're doing the same thing malware reportedly does.

This is undoubtedly a feature. I've yet to see a Windows 10 app that seemed even remotely useful or desirable. OSX does much better in this respect because they sell desktop sotware - what a concept. Zero tears shed.

Let's for a second say that I did. Why is OneDrive a system component? Like, can we think through that for just a second? This is Internet Explorer all over again. Dropbox, Google Drive, Mega, and plenty of other cloud storage providers manage to work just fine being a bog standard installed application. Why does OneDrive need to be system integrated?

Here's a crazy thought - have a webpage where people could submit feature requests and, y'know, ASK? Here's another idea - check the support forums for the hundreds of errors with "me too" posts whose answers are shown as unhelpful? Microsoft can't have it both ways. Telemetry is understandable if people weren't already explicitly saying what they wanted, but they are and they're ignoring it. This does not lend credence to a stated need for telemetry. Now, although they might not actually steal my personal documents, it's amazing how much they're pushing OneDrive, as well as amazing that the EULA is written in such a way that if they *do* steal personal documents, it's already been agreed to.

Tony, I can't tell for sure, but last time, Privacy Protector For Windows 10, was out as giveaway, the license expired after less than a month. Well, I was happy with the program, so I bought it : /
Privacy Protector 1.6 for Windows 10 was available as a giveaway on June 14, 2016, and it has been version 2.0 for a while. That should give you a bit of a time line, I hope. Since, there is a giveaway today, it's possible an update is just around the corner. Grab it, when it's for free, but I won't state, I would buy it again, when great portable tools like, O&O's Shut Up, Winaero Tweaker and Ashampoo AntiSpy for Windows 10, for free are available.
