Installed it hours ago and couldn't find the key to enter it. Found the instructions here, opened it up to register it and it stated that a crucial upgrade is necessary. I hit proceed and it started installing adware that I could opt out of and then one adware that I could not opt out of without cancelling. This deleted the program shortcut.

I get a pop-up when I run the program saying to install the new "versoin" to avoid malfunctions.

1. Is this from Power Audio Extractor, or do I have a virus displaying this? Someone a few days ago had a very similar warning from a different GAOTD program. "New version may include unspecified updates, enhancements or bug fixes."

2. Will this force me to lose the free license being given away today?

The sinking feeling I got when the "You should update right now" message appeared worsened when I noticed the typo on that box. I continued with the current version anyway (the key never works if you update) and couldn't fine where to enter the key. Finally, I tried actually extracting some audio, and if prompted my for the key. When I entered it, I was told that it was not a valid key. So I figured I'd go back and try the update after all. I clicked that option in the menu, and an "Updater" window opened. After 5-10 minutes of waiting for it while is said "checking update please wait," I gave up. It couldn't even figure out if an update existed, even though it had just told me it did. Uninstalled this zero.

This giveaway keeps giving me an error every time I try to open an MP4, which makes it useless for me.
I could probably reseach and find the solution but I really don't care as I have a freeware that does the same for free anyways!

ffprobe.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point _wfopen_s could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll.

Installed effortlessly on a Windows 10 computer 64-bit Intel Processor. When I attempted to start the program it would not start and I received the message that the bass.dll file was missing and the program could not start without it.

I went to the program's folder and the bass.dll file was indeed there, provided by the software manufacturer as a necessary part of the program.

I checked out the services suggested in comment #6 and found out that the bass.dll file could be installed by those services if you were willing to pay more than the original cost of the software! It was not too difficult to determine that those PC repair programs are nothing but a scam to make you pay for a file that is already included in the program as part of the program itself. Don't fall for that scam, that is not the reason why so many GAOTD visitors are having this very same problem!

The solution is very simple as provided by StrayCat in comment #5.

The solution:
Go to the x86 program folder of Power Video Extractor and rename goup.exe to goup.exe.disabled. It is that simple! Once I renamed that questionable file, that the program obviously does not need, Power Audio Extractor started and ran immediately when clicked. The goup.exe file, which does nothing more than redirect the user to advertisements and "who knows what," no longer interferes with the program itself, or prevents the program from running and allows the software to see the bass.dll file it needs to run.

I was then able to use the program and the first video file I tested was a one minute commercial in a .wmv format. Running the program, it extracted the audio to an .mp3 file in ONE second. I couldn't believe the speed so I tested the program with a number of one and two minute files and each conversion took from ONE SECOND to THREE SECONDS. Unbelievable!!! The quality was absolutely indistinguishable from the sound quality of the original video itself. The audio files were approximately 1/3 the size of the video files with perfect quality each time. You cannot tell the difference between the audio in the video to the audio in the .mp3 files.

This program is a definite keeper! I can see unlimited uses such as creating soundtracks from music videos, extracting music from movies, etc., etc., etc.

With about 12 hours left in this giveaway, I hope this explanation helps those that wanted to have this program get it to work now that the bass.dll error can be very simply corrected. Just rename the one problem file and it works like a dream!

THANK YOU to PowerSE Co., Ltd. and GAOTD for an incredible program that does everything advertised and more.

I cannot use this program. After installing it, it keep telling me that...

"Bass.dll is missing from the computer" and to reinstall the program to fix this problem..
I have reinstalled it twice already and it still doesn't work. I did get a registration number though.

I have not had this problem with any other downloads from here or any where else.

Jody, Just keep hitting the "ignore" button. The Program should then install without a problem.

For some reason, after running setup and learning that my software is now activated, I can't find the program anywhere on my Windows 10 computer. I re-read the readme file but must be missing something. Ideas?

Downloaded twice and both times an error message come out: bass.dll library missing.
Than I read the comments and followed suggestion made to comment #6.
Had to download another program that inspected the system and concluded that a deep fixing was needed. But It asked me for 29USD to finish the process.
Go figure it!
Quickly uninstalled the program.

Windows 10 64 bit.

In spite of all of the naysayers out there - I had a wonderful experience with this program. I followed the directions in the Readme file - read it fully people, it will tell you how to register it!

My initial usage, just to see if it worked, was to extract the audio from a 2 hour movie I had on my hard drive. In less than 5 minutes it had converted it to an MP3 file of 154 MB. The playback was beautiful.

Thank you GOTD!

Weird.
The file downloads, then immediately starts downloading again!
Done it 5 times now, but there's nothing in my download folder but an "incomplete."
Been a GOTD fan for years.
First time I've run into this (?????)

Happy Landins,

If you don't like dll download sites, you can also download bass.dll from un4seen development, which is the original author of bass library.

If you're not into adware don't fall for the scary and rather ugly update option and go to the x86 program folder of Power Video Extractor and rename goup.exe to goup.exe.disabled .
Take care.

Thanks, I will continue using FFMPEG to get audio only from downloaded video files. Command line: ffmpeg -i "input video file" -vn -ab 128K "output audio file.mp3"
