what's the difference between activation and registration? I activated the program but it still shows a registration link.

Since nobody answered my question about distinctive features, I took the bait and installed/activated PicMaster.
I spent only half an hour looking at it - perhaps not enough.
Interface is dated. I could not find a way to change it and the size of the interface icons and text was a problem for me (too small).
A minimal number of the common editing features are present.
Was interested in the "Morphing" feature, but I was not able to make it work.
I did not find the Help very helpful.
For me it was a no-go and I uninstalled it.
P.S. I think it is only a 32-bit program.

ML, I believe it's a 2014 (last changed) Delphi program from names used in the registry key, so will be a dated interface because Delphi is unaware of skins and high DPI displays etc. examining the build data of the main executable it might even be runable under windows 98!!!!!

IMHO the advantages of PicMaster, which seems to be a competent image editor, is its small footprint on your hard disk, and the ability to use Photoshop plugins, & there are LOTS of those plugins available. The disadvantages are it lacks layers, and some may dislike the somewhat dated appearance of the GUI. For more serious editing, which requires layers, there's The GIMP, or some might want to check out the free Chasys Draw IES -- jpchacha.com/index.php
PicMaster installs in the Program Files (x86) folder, with an additional folder in Users\ [UserName]\ AppData\ Roaming\. On the 1st run after activating / registering PicMaster an empty folder was added in Users\ [UserName]\ AppData\ Local\ VirtualStore\ Program Files (x86)\ PicMaster\. During installation I recorded these changes to the registry: New keys: 39769, New values: 105650, Changed values: 36, Total changes: 145455. Often with that many entries most new keys have a common heading, e.g., Drivers, making it possible to search from the end of the text file to the last Driver key in that case, so I can review the entries from then on. That was Not the case with PicMaster, so all I can say for sure is that there's one new PicMaster key + one new key for uninstall.

mike,
You mention GIMP and Chasys Draw IES and rightly so!
Both free, both very rich in features, good for professionals - both are amazing. However, the learning curve might be too much for some (especially for Chasys). I find Paint.NET (also free) just right: not very difficult, but capable.

while the setup.exe gives the option to install for all users the activate.exe/gcd only activates the current logged in user so will be needed to be run in every user account you want to use this on.

Installed and activated fine.
Tried using the filter browser on a file but it wouldn't OK, close or cancel from that dialog window. Unable to close app so had to terminate the .exe.
CBA to look for a fix for the problem TBH

Downloaded quickly and activated easily. Ran the program. Looks like a 1990's paint program. Not pleasant to use and appears completely unpolished. Much better available as shareware/freeware.

Installation was not the simplest but not the most complicated either.
Not impressed with the interface but looking forward to see what i can do, especially the filters. I was looking for something with interesting filter effects so we will see what this does.

What editing features does this software has that other photo editors do not have or rarely have?

This one looks interesting and it's a true lifetime giveaway, not trialware. I have downloaded it but not installed it yet.

This x32 program, with an interface that seems to date from before the Great Flood, will remind you of your youth, but it has a number of interesting features: morphing, 3D images etc. It also claims to be able to notify you by email if there's movement in your home. (I haven't tested all those things though). It accepts 8.bf filters (not x64), which you can find everywhere for free. Just drop them in the plugins folder, where you installed the software (nice for such an outdated program: it installs wherever you want).

Windows 3.1 design of UI - LOL! (c) 1999-2014, release date 2014 - the oldest sw I have in my computer... But some of the functions look interesting. Lets´ see if it is worth to keep ;-)
