Something was wrong with the registration code I received so I was unable to install it. Franzis Support didn't answer my mail either.

It looks like I need to keep pressing the big red button until I find a photo arrangement I like. The problem is that I might need to press the button 50 times or more before I can find something I like. Also there does not appear to be any way of comparing two arrangements that I have liked to find the better arrangement.
What is lacking is the manual so I can get full use and understanding of this software.

I've been using software from Franzis for years and have always been happy with their products. Following the directions in the README, I was able to get my "personal ID number" as well as the "registration number" right away. I thought there was to be yet another spot I'd have to enter my info into, but there wasn't any -- the registration was already good. Many thanks to GAOTD and Franzis!

Thank You! very much for your software! It was very easy to install and get through the registration. I'm a novice computer user. I appreciate your generosity!

I already have an account setup at Franzis which made installing this program really easy. Even if you don't have an account, it's still simple to do. No hoops to jump through at all. This appears to be a very diverse program giving you many results from just one photo. You pick one that suits you and save it. There are a ton of choices this program leaves you with. Just use your own imagination for your artistic expression results. I think this one's a keeper even though it's just version 1.x. It can only get better with future versions but it looks promising so far. Franzis has been very generous with GOTD offers and I have many of their programs for free, as a result.

Well, I went through all the hoops, but the text is so small I can't read it. It would take a magnifying glass to read. It's probably an o.k. program, but I have a pretty high resolution on my computer & it just won't do. I'm uninstalling on here, but I may try it on my older laptop.

The program downloaded and installed fine. I was able to register and load the program. Why can't I see any of the pictures on my computer when I try to import?

Too many hoops to register. I suggest PhotoDonut which has many hundreds of free styles without the spam.

DB,
Too many hoops or are you just lazy? Getting this program registered is a very simple process.
The next time Franzis offers another program here, you don't have to set up an account again
because you already have one. My key was sent to me via email immediately. This is a very good
company with terrific programs they offer here at GOTD, from time to time.

The best way to get an idea of what PhotoBUZZER does is to look at the screenshot on the product web page [linked in the blue box on the upper right of the GOTD page]. You import/open an image, and basically keep mashing the big red button until you see something you like -- at that point you can mess with the sliders above that big red button to fine tune the FX. There's optionally more to it, like a timeline etc., but that's the basic idea.

Activation...
Franzis has been giving away software for years, and people have complained about the registration process since the very first giveaway -- all that complaining has had zero effect. Easiest is to save a email & password for a Franzis account -- then as today enter the email address on the web page, you'll get a new page asking for the password, enter that, done -- look for the email with the ID & key. Like a few other Franzis apps, once PhotoBUZZER is installed, there doesn't seem to be any way, or need to enter the key.

Installation...
Franzis giveaways like today's PhotoBUZZER often use a wrapper -- enter the correct ID & key and the actual setup app will be copied to the user temp folder [C:\Users\ [UserName]\ AppData\ Local\ Temp\] -- save that file if you want before proceeding with the install. Running that wrapper today adds 3 registry keys: HKCU\Software\Enigma Protector & HKCU\Software\EnigmaDevelopers & HKCU\Software\MedienTeam66 . Running the setup file to install the app causes more registry changes, but they're not because of the Franzis software itself.

Like many Franzis apps, the PhotoBUZZER setup includes installing C/C++ runtimes from Microsoft -- since giveaways are typically older versions, those runtimes will be older versions too, so check for updates. Installing the Microsoft C/C++ runtimes typically adds a Lot of registry entries, especially in this case, where it triggers a section of Windows registry [a registry hive] that you most often do not see or deal with -- actually don't want to deal with, since there's extremely little in the way of documentation, and you could break Windows Update messing with it. It's not that uncommon, and it's nothing to worry about, and I mention it only because if you use software to monitor the installation, e.g. an uninstaller app, this can drive it nuts [the .reg file with just the changes to HKLM is over 28 MB!].

Since lots of software adds the Microsoft C/C++ runtimes [it's not uncommon to have Lots of duplicate copies], and because they're mostly backwards compatible, I try to avoid installing more copies. With Franzis software I normally do this by installing their apps in a VM, then copying the program's folder to my regular copy of Windows -- when run it can normally be activated when required, and adds the 2 folders Franzis software requires to C:\Users\[UserName]\ . This is not a necessary, or even recommended step -- just what I do to minimize clutter.

Faye, When u click "Internet", you should be taken to Franzis homepage, where you create a new account(if you dont have 1)..then they send you the registration code in email.

Faye,

It's not at all uncommon to have emails blocked by spam filters running on your email provider's servers. Use a different email account with a different email service. I have email addresses with 4 different providers, and sometimes I have to try 3 of them -- when a company sends out thousands of emails with keys, those spam filters can wrongly ID anything coming from that address as spam.

Tried installing on Windows 7 professional 64bit. Seems to be the windows installation folder is also for a mac. I tried a second time and I am told it is already installed do I want to replace it. No install wizard opens, Just the windows security asking permission to install, than nothing. I open file in downloads and it reads mac. No icon on desktop. I did a search and the only thing that shows is the file in downloads, nothing installed.

Reply   |   Comment by Mattsy  –  Last year  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-1)

Mattsy, you have to "extract all" then click "setup" in the extracted folder..the Mac folder is separate in both for Mac users. If it still doesn't work, it's possible the GOTD Thermida wrapper is being blocked by your antivirus, so may have to disable the antivirus and retry.

A word of advice to this vendors marketing department 1.0 = 1.000,000 = 1.000000 now if you want to write 1 million try 1,000,000 a decimal point is not appropriate as you used it if you want to write 1 million out in full numericaly. Now if you really meant 1 variation and wanted to make it *look* like a million variations at a quick glance, you succeded.

TK,
In many countries 1,000,000.00 is 1.000.000,00

Reply   |   Comment by Carl  –  Last year  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+24)

Carl, I am aware that some foriegn nations do use an alternative number system but they are not native English speaking/reading nations therefore when marketing towards english language nations use the languages notations :-) Also 1.000,000 != 1.000.000,0 even if 1,000,000.00 = 1.000.000,00 when translated into another languages syntax... ie, they have a decimal comma rather than a decimal point and a point thousands seperator rather than a comma thousands seperator... I am not aware of any nation that uses both point and comma thousands seperators interchangably within the same number... as that leaves no character for the decimal sub-unit seperator.

Reply   |   Comment by TK  –  Last year  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-13)

TK,

Or just... understand what they're trying to say and maybe cut them some slack in the language department.....

Reply   |   Comment by J  –  Last year  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+8)

TK, I accept your complaint, but if you are fussy about usage by native English speaking/reading readers you should also separate using a separator and not a seperator.

Zen , I am more concerend about accurate and meaningful specifications, ambiguous feature claims that require the reader to infer or assume what they really mean is a very poor way to initiate a contract of sale. SInce I was not forming or intending to form a contract with the reader I see no reason to be that concerned about my misssssssspelling :-p I would not be too suprised if the variations the program could produce is precisely 1 million. Because for it to be Theoretically 1 million it would have to be demonstrated as possible to produce 1 million variations otherwise if it has not been experimantally demonstrated then its only hypothetically 1 million variations not theoretically. Acording to scientific methodology anyway ;-) Reason is because not all settiings combinations are ensured to produce a completely unique output.

Observer , Are you the moderator of this comments section? I was giving some constructive criticisim to the vendor... what are you doing?

Reply   |   Comment by TK  –  Last year  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-6)

J, I don't do mind reading, I prefer to provide product contributors with constructive criticisim that if they follow will improve the apearence and value of their marketing/descriptive text. I am not bothered that readers so far found my comment as not useful since it was specificly directed for the vendors attention not for general readers entertainment, the rest of this thread has been about irrelevences since the first replies syntax examples where not examples of what was being constructively criticised and the rest thought I was not understanding and just being picky rather than offering potentially helpfull advice to a German company that for some reason unbeknown to us got the numerical value syntax all messed up which does not look good for a software company as good programmers generally have a reasonable grasp of mathematics and syntax.... poor programmers well who knows!

I have to agree with the others that have commented on the registration process. Why do we need to create an account with the developer when most of us will never access the account but more concerning is why does the developer need all this information and what are they doing with it? A simple email address and name is all that should be required along with the option to decide if you want to opt in for marketing. With that said I'm passing on today's download.

Reply   |   Comment by Blackhat  –  Last year  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+56)

Blackhat,

"Why do we need to create an account with the developer when most of us will never access the account but more concerning is why does the developer need all this information and what are they doing with it?"

Why?... Because you want the free software. ;)

Franzis has been this way for years with their giveaways, and there have been LOTS of complaints from the very first. The only thing those complaints have accomplished is that now the emails with keys are in English -- Google translate is no longer needed.

That said, Franzis does a lot of giveaways, often the software is worth having, if not in the must have category, so saving the email & password, then reusing them, makes sense by making it pretty painless.

I have never negatively commented before as everything is, of course, free, but I'll make an exception in this case.
1. Overly arduous and intrusive sign up procedure.

2. Useless program outperformed by even the most basic free android app.

3. Totally embeds itself needlessly and worryingly into your registry. Took an absolute age to uninstall using Revo, longer than anything previously. In fact, it took longer to both install and uninstall than it was actually on my PC.

Reply   |   Comment by Mart  –  Last year  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+49)

Mart, I've never had an issue with any Franzis product, and I don't mind them keeping my account on file. Makes it easier to get my registration codes should I forget 1 or crash my drive. Yes I have a few of their software from 2 yrs ago.
I would love to find an Android app that can do what Buzzer does on a PC, as not everyone uses their phone for photography.
A great many programs "embed" themselves in registry, and just for the heck of it, I uninstalled this using my uninstaller. Saw no real difference in uninstall times.

Reply   |   Comment by DJ  –  Last year  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Mart,

"1. Overly arduous and intrusive sign up procedure."

If you save you email & password for the next time, it's no worse than most giveaways.

"2. Useless program outperformed by even the most basic free android app."

But those Android apps do not run on your Windows PC/laptop. If you're snapping quick pics that are automatically uploaded to Google or wherever, there's very often little or no need to put them on your PC. If OTOH you're using a camera that's not built into a cell phone, you're not going to go through the maybe arduous task of getting those photos on your cell phone's limited storage just to edit them.

"3. Totally embeds itself needlessly and worryingly into your registry. Took an absolute age to uninstall using Revo..."

I monitored the install, and PhotoBUZZER has almost zero impact on Windows registry -- what you saw was the result of installing the Microsoft C/C++ runtimes, just the way that Microsoft recommends they be installed. IOW if you have a complaint, it's with Microsoft.

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  Last year  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

mike,
Mike is 100% correct. I wish people would stop it with the "intrusive talk." It sounds so silly. Now if you were talking about Microsoft, then I would totally agree. All that Franzis has on me is my email address. They, very infrequently, send email followups or advertise new or existing software. Franzis makes terrific software so if they are offering you free software here, all they do is ask you to create an account at their website. That's it. Once you confirm your email addy, your reg key is sent to you immediately. No waiting at all like with so many other programs offered here that make you wait hours for a key. And the next time Franzis offers you this or another software product, getting your key now involves just one less step.

Ref Shawki, If you have an error The name of the problem event:
APPCRASH
in module name with error: OpenCL.DLL,
that is the easiest way out:
1. Go to the folder with the program
2. Find the file “OpenCLCheck.exe” and change it to the other name, I changed it to “— OpenCLCheck.exe”
3. Start the program
4. Enter the serial number
5. The program will open.

//Attention! Programs from Franzis do not support Cyrillic fonts, see that the file was named in English and the path to the file consisted only of English letters //.
