As it uses space on the C drive to create files then I can't use this program as I have limited space on my C drive.

This is a recent rebrand and reversioning of a product given away in Feb 2020

no direct support of modern video containers or codecs and no UHD support, no advanced transitions, no change log present on their site.

On configuring it to output an H264 MP4 file 1080p it first creates its internal default video file C:\Users\Username\Documents\Photo Slide Show Time\Temp\semifinal.avi using the ancient VFW codec Microsoft Video 1 (CRAM) then renamed to a file called final.avi when this is complete it will use an unlicensed copy of an old 2014 build of an ancient version of FFMPEG.EXE to convert the AVI to some semblance of the desired container and codecs... So there are multiple layers of encoding and re-encoding which is why it takes so looooong to produce a slideshow. Averything has to go via the semifinal.avi/final.avi Microsoft Video 1 (CRAM) compression process and the losses of quality that entails before it then goes through the final lossy compression.

Installed without a problem on Lenovo Win10, 450GB free. Was able to add 25 images and music. Played fine before I tried to export as avi. Then it crashed with unhandled exception in application. Had option to continue or quit. Chose to continue and video did not complete. Will reboot and report back if there is a change. Otherwise, will uninstall.

A nice simple slideshow creator, does what it says, but I do have a complaint, almost 30 minutes to create a slideshow video of 120 photos, with default settings and no music... OUCH!!! I guess it could take several days to do slideshow of over 6000 photos and longer with music added.

It would also be nice if you could insert title pages into the slideshow.

wynford, It takes a lot less if you select MPEG as the video output format.

Alessandro Ferri, For me, the same photos took a little longer in mpeg format than the default avi format

Jack Smook, titles pages are easy. Just produce them in any program what is able to export to JPG and import them in your slideshow like any other photo.

Luna, Yes i know that can be done, but other slideshows apps allow you to do it in the app, but i think i'll stick with ashampoo slideshow studio hd

wynford, If you created a slideshow of 6000 photos, with no transitions, no music and each photo only appearing on the screen for one second, it would take 60 hours to view them all. That's 2.5 days of *non-stop* viewing.

wynford,
It would have been easier to put your photos into a video editor to create a slide show, which would have compied a lot faster.

Please ignore this answer. Faulty math.

Reply   |   Comment by Nunya  –  3 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

Alessandro Ferri, Not true, internally it generates an AVI and only after that does it use FFMPEG.EXE to convert to MPEG 2/4 or anything else!

This software reminds me of the 90's.
The artwork and proposed effects are like Win 3.11 era slide show.
It will be a good tool for those creating websites in the style of those years.
Thanks

Installed fine on Windows 10 (The program is pre-activated and does not require manual license registration.) but maybe I put too many pics in when testing it because I kept getting this error: System.OutOfMemoryException: Out of memory. It would not allow me to drag and drop pics despite having a drag and drop feature.

I am familiar with the publisher, pcwinsoft. Their software is usually good. Not pretty but they do the job. Maybe someone from pcwinsoft will provide support here.

Jarle Molvær, to keep my W10 Home 64 2004 production desktop clean, I installed it on that machine in a sandbox (Sandboxie, it is freeware since a year). No problems whatsoever. It is 32 bit software.

Jarle Molvær, next time try right clicking on the downloaded zip file and unblocking the download... that *might* prompt your firewall into letting the installer connect to the authorising server to validate the giveaway date.
