Thank you!

I tried this program on a pdf that initially would not allow copying text.

After running this app I WAS now able to copy text.

I use this to copy/paste snippets into private documents for personal reference purposes.

"PDF Password Remover 1.5"

I did make a protected PDF-file. With 2 passwords.
One(gotd) for just reading and the other password(??) for printing, editing etc.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10366431/_GOTD/PDFPasswordRemover15_20150731/Info-Eng.txt%20-%20Kladblok.pdf

After entering the user password, printing isn't allowed:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10366431/_GOTD/PDFPasswordRemover15_20150731/Protected.png
So it should be safe to send it to other people, just for reading.
It isn't allowed to make hardcopies.

But after removing the user password, the PDF is open for printing and editing:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10366431/_GOTD/PDFPasswordRemover15_20150731/RemoveUserPassword.png

Printing:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10366431/_GOTD/PDFPasswordRemover15_20150731/Printing.png

So this program does a little bit more than I like.

Hi it is not removing the password of pdf.

It is asking us to give password to open pdf.

This is looking like waste.

please reply back.

Hi,
When You create Your Own PDF Document using a PDF Editor You can then optionally add a password to prevent it to be reeded by Others, This PW is the one that the program is asking You For and this concerns only that specific kind of protection, Although there are Other protections that can be applied to a PDF file to be published for the reading purpose only, The other possible usages can be therefor locked. The current GOTD is correctly unlocking them.

I do a lot of work in PDFs all day so it's handy for me to be able to remove a password occasionally. I do it for my bank statements, various computer manuals, ebooks, etc. I have a bad habit of wanting to highlight content as I read it. I did not think a program such as this would be of much use to me. I thought it would be along the line of some 'cracking' program that would take a long time and be hit or miss in effectiveness. However, back in May a program called Vibosoft PDF Password & Restrictions Remover was given away and I tried it. I was amazed at how useful it can be. It nearly INSTANTANEOUSLY removes EVERY SINGLE PASSWORD from a locked PDF that I've ever tried and they are completely unlocked. There has NOT been even one exception. I haven't tested this product yet, but I'm going to.

In order to remove the password you have to have the password. This does not crack passwords.
The install directory is %root%\pdfunlock rather than in program files.
output folder is similarly on the root both are easily changed.

This did nothing for me but it did install and uninstall fine.

There is free PDF Unlocker
http://www.pdfunlock.com/

In Linux with pdftk
Command's example:
pdftk secured.pdf input_pw foopass output unsecured.pdf

Removal of printing restrictions may be possible by using a PDF to Word converter, too. Two times I needed/tried this I have been successful. I don't know whether this effect can be generalized.

Another PDF problem:
Very useful for saving ink etc. are PDFViewers like free PDF-XChange Viewer:
By changing foreground font to black and background to white I have been able to avoid a lot of graphic effects emptying your resources quickly.

Francis, I'm looking for a free PDF to Word converter that uses OCR for text conversion. Do you know of a good one?

Happy Dae, please search for:
free PDF word converter

I didn't try any of the free ones besides sometimes opening a PDF in free Open/LibreOffice. Usually I'm using parallel several GOTDs and ABBYY which generally is best.

Some weeks ago I posted the link to a free older but still good ABBYY version which perhaps is still available (OCR from fotos, no PDF). But PDFs which need OCR are in reality pics. If you print PDFs to foto format, e.g.
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/6-ways-to-convert-a-pdf-file-to-a-jpg-image/

ABBYY links:
https://forum.raymond.cc/threads/abbyy-finereader-5-0-pro-for-free.35458/ leads to
http://register.avanquest.com/ABSOFT/produits/Promotion/enregistrement_presse/VNU/FineReader0906/avq_fr_cov.cfm?CFID=5089403&CFTOKEN=14305582
But please use download link corrected by me:

Adobe Acrobat Writer 8 is "free" -- actually, no longer supported due to turning off their serial number servers, so they merely published their serial numbers so anyone can re-install it without failure (web search for download resources).

It can clear inner security once you open a password-cleared file, and has OCR Optical Character Recognition, and export to documents ir images, and can "shrink" files to simpleset, smallest size, sometimes 10% of original.
__________

I'm still ot sure if today's giveaway clears opening passwords or inner security passwords -- does anyone know?

Francis and All, the makeusofsite is flawed! The Zamzar link worked great, it converted a PDF file to a docx file perfectly even though it asks for an email address to send it to. The second one down (I believe it was) YouConvertIt (Beta) link redirects to a hostage site that a newbie would get jammed up by. After I cleared it via Task Manager I didn't try it or any others after it. I just thought I should let folks know to beware of it.

I use this software from previous GOTD release. I am very satisfied - easy to use, does what it is supposed to do.

Thanks GOTD for the update.

Thumbs up!

Looks nice, but why would you install a (paid) software in your computer when such operation can be done online for free?

"why would you install a (paid) software in your computer when such operation can be done online for free?

For two reasons:
- You may not have an internet access-point at hand.
- You don't trust shady sites.

I often make notes on my PDF bank statements, but they come password protected. Do you think I'm going to send my bank statement to some website?

Installed(*) and registered on a Win 10 Pro 64 bit system without problems. There is portable version for download.

A (Chinese?) company without name and address.

Upon start a small on resizable window opens, you drag or drop or you click into the programs window to open the explorer option.

"2 Work Methods:
- Remove Owner Password Protection: Directly
- Remove User Password Protection: User Password Required

Don't be confused with owner and user password. With the owner password you can ALWAYS read the pdf file, but printing or other options could be disabled. This is always simple, the program needs simply to ignore the print forbidden flag.

With the user password, the pdf file is ENCRYPTED, you cannot OPEN the pdf file. This program does not and cannot crack an unknown user password, but with an existing password it can copy the content of the pdf file, so the user password will be "removed".

Does what it claims.
(*)Not uninstalled because I tested the portable version.

Not very clear, @Karl, when when you say "... WITH ...password, you can ...", since the whole point of this program is we are WITHOUT whatever password.

So, does this program remove passwords or not, and at what level?

-- Can't even open a PDF? This program can / cannot help?

-- Can't edit / copy contents / print / OCR / whatever a PDF you CAN open? This program can / cannot help?

Help!
.

@Peter Blaise, I felt Karl was quite clear. The confusion arises because there are *two types* of password that can be used upon a PDF.

If you *are* able to open the PDF to view it without requiring a password to do so, this program will probably work. (Sorry about the "waffle words" - I've not yet had a chance to try this myself)

The other type of password (the type this program cannot bypass) prevents even opening the PDF to view it.
