PDF Fixer is a PDF repair software tool which fixes corrupt PDF files by restructuring the damaged PDF data, rebuilding XREF tables and then recovers those PDF documents back. Due to PDFTK just fixes PDF metadata errors and Ghostscript can only recreate XREF tables, PDF Fixer can repair PDFs which PDFTK & Ghostscript cannot repair. It restructures the data from the corrupt PDF files, and builds the objects to make PDFs readable again. Ok, next attempt, it took a 200 MB PDF down to 30 MB, and the results seem ok, though the original was NOT broken to begin with.
Adobe Acrobat Pro has file-size-reduction routines, but if this can shrink a file footprint leaving the contents usable, that's nice - NOT the intended feature set, but nice.
Also, I noticed that if we click on the program screen, it opens a Windows File Explorer [ File Open ] browsing dialog - surprise.

Areas to improve:
1 - give an analysis of what's wrong with a PDF, ESPECIALLY if it can't be fixed.

For me, this results in 3 KB blank non-PDF file from ANY PDF input, there is NO 'fix" of any kind performed.
Plus, there's no [ File Open ] or [ File Save / Save As ] user front end.
This seems to be an internal utility probably originally called by another full-feature PDF program front end, but here, it's alone, and all niceties of a user interface are missing.
As well as all functions - missing.
Did this EVER work in ANY environment?
Because it seems unable to work on it's own.
Wait for v2 ... or v10, maybe?

What would make it better?
1 - a full program front end with File Open, File Save / Save As, File Properties, Export, and so on.
2 - an analysis of any input PDF file - tell us what you see and what you are about to work on.
3 - an analysis of fixes, tell us what you did.
4 - the ability to separately save content, such as images, text, ANYTHING found inside the PDF file in question.
This seems to be an internal utility in development pre-beta, I look forward to a public release full program to test and give feedback on.

My install also took me to payment page.
I closed it.
However, it also put up a box to input the reg code.
So worked for me.

Not working for me. It always states 'All files fixed successfully' but I keep ending up with two additional copies created by the program that are just a blank page. In the preview result, clicking on the zoom in or out gives an unhandled exception error each time. Tried on several documents with the same unhelpful result. Just blank pages.
I don't know if its registered or not. When I tried to input the registration code it took me to another website to fill in payment information.
The program only opens a small simple box on the screen where you can go to the website or browse for the file locations. It cannot be resized and has no help information.
Went onto pdffixer.com to see if there was help information. Used the Contact link which opened up my email program. No information about the provider or help information visible on the website.
So far not impressed by the website, the registration link that took me to a different website to input my payment details, the program interface, the lack of positive results and the fact that each time it tells me that the document is fixed successfully when there is nothing but a blank page.
I had several documents saved for repair but sadly using the software today did not give me the readable documents I wanted.

Also tried the software via the download on the website. It gave the same blank results on the damaged pdf documents.
It looks like the registration did go through originally as when I tried with the new download, it said I could only preview a page; a message that did not come up on my last attempts.
Tried to register (using the upgrade to pro link on the program) and again the payment page opened up. https://secure.2checkout.com/order/checkout.php?PRODS=35999380&QTY=1&CART=1&CARD=1 but also the registration insert box was visible for a brief moment before the web page covered it.
When I used the giveaway code it said it was invalid. This message did not come up when I used the giveaway download link.
Sadly, had no practical benefit at all. See no reason not to uninstall both versions of the software.
Wanted to use it, it would have been useful if it had worked.

Giveaway User, yes, for me, a broken PDF resulted in an empty "fixed" no-file result.
And yet a non-broken input PDF resulted in a reduced-size PDF file that seems to work ok.
I'm not sure what to make of it.
I wish the program told us what it found that was "broken", and what it thinks it did to "fix" things.

PDF Fixer cannot fix or repair the PDFs which were corrupted badly, such as all data written by 0x0 empty.
If a PDF file was damaged while transferring or downloading, PDF Fixer would fix the transferred part of the file.
