You get no results at all..

This tool assumes the pdf is of white background color. If not, then this app will mess things up big time. It actually doesn't delete anything, but paints a white layer over wherever section you believe to be "deleting".

Sometimes, this kind of tool could be very handy to simply effect a minor change. Will keep it, but I already know the limitations and where to use it.

Installed easily on Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit on an i3 Toshiba laptop. My interest was mostly in the page cutter. I often need to cull hundreds of selected pages from PDF files which can be more than a thousand pages. It's clumsy and awkward and slow in Acrobat Professional. I was hoping this would be easier and faster. It's not. It will delete a page or two okay, but it's so clumsy and slow slow slow (on a reasonably fast computer) about entering a large number of pages for deletion as to be effectively unusable.

Ideally what I'd like is a program that could accept input from a text file list of page numbers and just delete those pages. I currently do this with a batch file. First I extract every page of the large PDF as a single PDF file. Then I edit the list of page numbers into a list of batch file commands. For instance:

del page?0001.pdf
del page?0999.pdf

etc.

Then the surviving files are combined into a new PDF in Acrobat Professional. It's fairly quick and straightforward but it's still a very awkward way of doing something very simple ... "delete the following page numbers ..."

This program CAN do that but makes it very hard to actually enter the list of pages you want to delete after the first two or three.

Installed on Windows 7. Program misrendered all of the 16 fonts of the Copperplate typeface I tried. In all cases the characters were rendered in an Ariel typeface with variable spacing between the characters.

Tried today's Give Away. However, I found it to be pretty feeble.

When I search on google maps/satellite for addresses in the area where I live, most results are the middle of fields or woods since google only finds address approximations (I noticed that this is true for many small towns and suburbs). Street View is not available for most of my area. No, we don't live in tents or caves. :) Yes, we have legitimate international businesses here.

Just another note - you don't even have to go out of the program - after erasure - change page 90 degrees & what you thought had been erased is there. sry

Great program to erase paragraphs and sentences from contracts. Imagine, for free, you can download this program and remove any paragraph or sentence in any pdf document that you find to be disappointing. Examples:

You are required to add a widget to your property at 1900 Any Place Avenue by the 15th month of moving in or building your property. Failure to add this widget will cause a lien to be placed on your property.

Your signature at the bottom of this Home Owners Association Document is binding. You will have no recourse but to pay any encumbrances, fees, fines, which are levied by the Home Owners Association.

Any nuisances caused by barking dogs will be considered a violation of this agreement. All violations will carry a mandatory $250 penalty.

Which or all of the above would you remove from the document and send in to your Home Owners Association? They would never read it, they have seen it a million times, so it goes into the file and viola, you are off the hook when trouble comes.

The popularity of PDF documents because they can be viewed across different platforms has led to their misuse to some degree.
The fact that they are not easily editable should not be seen as weakness but as a strength from the point of view of security.
The document I had to modify was sent by e-mail it was required that I return it as a signed hardcopy. However, a hand written area on it was too light to print and I had to edit it. In fact the whole document was rather washed out and because it was a PDF file I had the devil's own job getting a decent copy printed.
In essence it should never have been sent in PDF format because of the difficulty in producing a hardcopy from it.
Personally I am not going to complain that today's download does not allow true editing of the document, but does allow under certain circumstances improvements to the document that make it more usable but without destroying the underlying integrity of the content.

I used this program to erase some words from a pdf file and it worked great, however when I tried to type the words back it displayed vertical instead of horizontal. so I guess I will keep this program to just erase data from a pdf file. also if you downloaded this program you must do this to make it pro version: copy the license you received, then run the program. you will notice that it says pdf free. now you must go to upgrade to pro and click on that, you will get a box to enter your license. paste the license in the box and hit ok then restart the program. you will then see that it changed from free to pro. The instructions don't tell you this so most people look for registration word or something like that, but this is different. you may think that it already put the license in, however it is not placed automatic. you must follow those steps to get the pro version. good luck to all.

It appears that this program converts the PDF file into a low-res bitmap with an eraser tool to rub out bits of it. (think MS paint 1990) As the original PDF code(postscript)is destroyed it should not be marketed as a PDF editor.

You can visually "erase" text and type in new text. You can choose the font and size of new text.
However it is just an illusion.
Everything in the original document is still there.

This is easily proved. Simply open up the (erased +edited)PDF document in any PDF editor. Then either by menu command or keyboard command, choose to view the document as text.

All original wording will be revealed.

Question: Can this work on non PDF Documents? I have been looking for a free simple erasure stand alone program that will work in any program to erase any part of text or image (in other words a pixel erasure) that I do not want. It would be nice if it included option to keep as transparent where you delete or fill with surrounding background color. Need this mostly for images with words or signatures that I want to erase to use for personal card making, etc. Been looking for a pixel erasure to work in any program for a long time. I regularly download history and genealogy books from Google Books and Archives.org. Nearly always they are .PDFs with digitized images of each page. I cannot copy/paste any of the information to another document, unless I want the whole page image. Also, I cannot do a text search for names or places. So I use one of GAOTD's programs to convert to Text.

This will help me remove the many blank pages, however.

I will never deal with a company that hides behind any number of 'privacy protect' registrars. I consider it a sure sign of a scam and money lost. If you stand behind your product and are legitimate, you have nothing to hide from.

Additionally, I'll Google Street View to ensure it's not a field in the middle of nowhere, etc.

That and general Googling on the product/company can often yield worthwhile results.

There is unfortunately no URL, where you can simply check a company.

You have to look through their websites, the signatures of the installed software, whois and... google&google again. With some routine this goes quite well, even if I make mistakes from time to time, which I try to avoid of course.

I consider it important to look, who is behind a software. It gives confidence or the contrary.

There is another problem with "unwanted objects" not solved by PDF Eraser Pro 1.0.3:

I often encounter PDFs with coloured background which cost a lot of ink etc. unnecessarily if printed (text consumes about 5%, full basic color 100% or even more if more than one basic colour is mixed). Readability suffers greatly. You can't overpaint background with PDF Eraser Pro 1.0.3 as text then will be lost.

Free PDF-XChange Viewer Portable (about 13 MB uncompressed, free OCR functionality available for English etc.) delivers an easy and comfortable solution. Go to preferences. There you can alter the documents view with colours of front (now black), background (now white!!!!), bars etc. which influences printing. (I can't tell exact procedure at the moment as I'm online with a Linux Live CD.)
Take a second PDF-XChange Viewer Portable if you sometimes need original colours and you don't need to fumble with preferences forwards and backwards.

A very simple installation and registration that opened up to a simple and usable interface, an interface that is almost identical to the editor in WinPDFEditor given away here a short time ago.

I had to use this recently on a particular document so I used it again on today's download and it was just the same.

The document chosen needed some text removing and replaced; it was easy to erase the area required and equally easy to add new text there in a font of my choice.

Adding an image was no problem having said that I could not find a method of resizing it which would have been nice.

This appears to be exactly the same program as the one mentioned above except other than it does not have the converter, it is about $10 cheaper.

A pleasant easy-to-use program.

This is not working with editing PDF files.
Massive thumbs down from me.

The copyright is claimed from 2004-2013 - I don't find any entry in Google before 2011.

A simple resizable window opens. You can add text (as image of course) or an image which overlays the original PDF. This is done without problems, to delete (page "cutter") a page in the document, you leave the program, you choose the PDF file, delete a page and the file is stored with a _deleted mark in the same folder.

The eraser does not really erase text, as it cannot handle a PDF in the "true" mode. I overlays the side with an blank image of the size of the eraser mark. This is DANGEROUS, because any PDF reader can copy the "invisible" text under the "deleted" image. It is of course not deleted, but hidden.

A simple PDF tool in a crowded world of PDF tools. Too simple. Does what it claims, but the "erase content" is hiding, not erasing.

Uninstalled via reboot. At least the company does not claim to be the world leader in PDF erasing software.
