Thought I'd try it, but find that it is just a fancy looking database that wants me to add the info. I'll stick with Sticky password as it picks up all the info as I type it in, saving me double work.

A security feature that can be added is after a user allows access to his/her camera/webcam, multiple tries at wrong password results in the camera/webcam taking a snapshot and mailing it to the user with an alert.

Well, I used the Idea Informer widget above, as directed, in order to leave a suggestion on improving Password Depot 11 - but it hasn't shown up all day.

So... I'll add my suggestion here as well. And that would be to figure out a way to sync identical database files stored on a PC and a smartphone WITHOUT using a common file stored in the cloud using OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.

PCM,

StickyPassword.com allows for syncing among multi-platform devices either via the cloud or only your local network.

Firefox has already upgraded their App to Ver 12 so it now conflicts with this GAOD Version 11, which makes it pretty useless. Otherwise it installed fine once you emailed a second time as directed in the text file included in the download. Also their is no compatibility with Opera, so this does not work for me and I deleted it.

My go to PW Manager, for many years now, has been, and is, KeePass. However, this gets high marks from both users and editors, so I'll give this a shot.

I really would like to see Opera Browser integration without needing Chrome add-on.
Also I think some more fields would be good for Password Depot.
What I mean is some sites I use Want name, email, password and a secret question/answer.
SO it would be nice to have the ability to have all fields fill without needing to type out some answers.

Thanks for the Giveaway and chance at Lifetime License

When transferring the program to a new computer in the future, the support page says the new install can be activated with the original "unlock code."

So even though the developer Paul says this is a "lifetime license," can I correctly assume that today's GOTD version can NOT be transferred to a new computer in the future even if I do it within my current lifetime? :-)

Hi PCM,

You can use the same license key on up to two devices. In other words, installing Password Depot on one future computer should be fine :)

Best wishes,

Apparently I don't understand the program because I can't figure out how to even begin using it. I just downloaded and I don't know what to do next.

Old lady, there is an extensive help file available online, the Quick start introduction should probably help with the very basics.

https://www.password-depot.com/documentation/onlinehelp_client/index.htm#t=quick_start_en.htm

There also is a offline version (PDF) from the manual here:

A suggestion don't know if it has already been implemented or not. Suppose your account on a website gets compromised or the website itself, is it possible to automatically change the password through the software?

Reply   |   Comment by Asaad  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Asaad, no (i don't know of any password manager that can actually do that) and that's a bad idea anyway, since the attacker could still have a certain amount of access to the site or database. Many sites have custom fields and urls (a non-standard) on webpages, so i would assume that it would be hard to implement such a feature. I know of many sites where not even simple auto-complete (just for username and password) works properly and you have to manually add these fields if possible, due to how the form works. Or you have to enter both manually because the password manager simply can't auto-fill the form.

senzai6293, i might have to add that i found out LastPass and Dashlane utilizing such a feature, kinda but the amount of accounts that possibly could be changed this way was rather limited and it didn't work very well on all sites. That's from the past (2014), idk if any of both have improved in that specific field. I never used both of them. But an interesting feature indeed. The question is, how good of an idea it is to use such a feature, knowing the site was compromised. =)

senzai6293, also here is a good post about why some password managers do not have such a feature, even if it could mean popularity for the software, especially the privacy concerns are pretty on point:

Hi jim,

You are right, this is about Password Depot 11. It is nevertheless a full version with a license key - things you would normally have to pay for. This is how giveaways work.

Best wishes,

Not an actual idea/suggestion, but perhaps the developers would do well to review the past comments made for the many previous "password manager" offers" here on GiveawayOfTheDay.

Try a Google search for the following (copy-and-paste the following 1-line phrase, including the quotes):

"password manager" -"links.giveawayoftheday.com" -"download-basket.giveawayoftheday.com" site:giveawayoftheday.com

Hope this proves useful.

The program would be complete with integration with an app obviously, but I think that the real kicker would be a very seamless way to implement 2FA that you could synch with your phone after the app gets done, since you are going for convenience its the number one reason for more people not using 2FA and we know it is a game changer.

Hi Marcos,

Thank you for your suggestion. In fact, Password Depot´s most recent version (version 12) does offer Android and iOS apps and you can set 2FA via Password Depot´s Server Manager. For more information, please visit our website (https://www.password-depot.de/en/).

Best wishes,
Paul

Hi TK,

The version offered here as part of the giveaway is Build 11.0.8 from September 2018. Users also receive a license key to unlock the full version. All of this is for free (and you would normally have to pay for a license key). If you were expecting the most recent version AND a full license, for free, then you have not understood how giveaways work. We are a small IT company and cannot give away thousands of free copies of the most recent version. But we do want to offer users here version 11, which is also a quality product and not a "fake".

Best wishes,
AceBIT Support Team

Hi,

add the following options:
1. possibility of unlocking the program using a pc fingerprint
2. saving the encrypted password db on local or cloud servers

Engel

Hi Engel,

1. Is available for the most recent Android version and is in the works for other platforms.

2. Both options are already available. Unless you are using a server (e.g. via cloud services), Password Depot will always save databases locally (on-premises/on-prem solution).

Best wishes,
