I'm looking into how PassFab 4EasyPartition can take my aging Windows 7 computer and "... Quickly and safely migrate everything to new Windows 11 ..." ...

... I'll get back to you all if I can see how PassFab 4EasyPartition does that.

This seems to promise to copy a live operating system to another attached drive.

This does not offer to make a separate boot tool for us to then use to copy from one drive to another.

If I buy a replacement drive for my laptop, a laptop that has only one drive socket inside, how do they expect me to 'see' the current drive and the new drive at the same time so I can copy from one to the other?

So, if we have only one computer, and only one drive socket, we need to buy an adapter to temporarily attach the replacement drive via USB ( perhaps ), and then copy from the internal to the new drive, then swap them.

Or go to another computer where both the old and new drives can be attached as additional drives there, install the software, and then ( presumably ) copy from the old drive to the new drive, then put the new drive into the original computer - do NOT copy the other computer's boot drive to the newly purchased blank drive.

I presume PassFab 4EasyPartition can select from a choice of source drives, not just autoselecting the default boot drive - their website does not show such an example.

Their website does not even get involved in showing how to physically attach both drives to one computer so the installed software can see both drives at once.

If this works, if this makes a bootable drive that is a copy of an original drive, then it seems to be a simple 1, 2, 3 step one-trick software- DISK CLONE ONLY - BUT I have not tested yet, considering I have to migrate both the source and target drives to another system and attach them by some method - I'll be back if I succeed.

By the way, they offer a 1-month $5 license at their website, presumably for folks who just want to do this once and be done with it, not needing the tools again for at least longer than a year.

Passfab seems to be a subdivision of Tenorshare, by the way.

Alternatives: FREE Hiren's Boot CD has a variety of FREE disk cloning ( and partition cloning ) software tools included - and it self-boots, so it treated both source and target drives as 'dormant', and does not have to deal with files that are live and locked by a running Windows operating system.

Peter Blaise, that is an interesting alternative. Unfortunately, you offer no solutions as to how to connect a 2nd drive to a single drive system just as your complaints against PassFab 4EasyPartition. Do you, by chance, have a personal stake in Hiren's Boot CD?

Thx, AjAx! I have been looking for a programme which would allow me to copy over my drives but NOT overwrite existing partitions. I R Confused.

I think the name is misleading. It is not a regular partition softwares as it is limited to only one feature: system transfer.

To Richard W. Woodley, who notes that lots of partition software is readily available for cheap.

Actually free.

As is cloning software available free.

PassFab 4EasyPartition is misnamed, internally called their migration tool, all it does is cone entire drives.
