Installed fine, but was surprised when the program did not start following the final step with the checkbox left checked to Launch DesktopEditors. Navigating to the installed files, I attempted to start DesktopEditors.exe, but immediately had an error dialog stating:
This application has failed to start because PdfReader.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
Re-installing resulted in the same results.
I did a search in the sub-directories, and PdfReader.dll file is in the "converter" directory.
I would really like to try this program out, but until the program starts, I cannot register the software.

Gary Smith, same message - I could run the program, but I couldn't open xsl or pdf. Searched around for solution including onlyoffice website before deciding enough wasted time and level of confidence in software plummeting. Uninstalled.

Wow, very limited in features and confusing menu system. It works for basic tasks, but why would you want to use this when free alternatives do more with a better UI? Plus, they're free after a year.

Please note: the program includes a 1-year license
Really? An office software with an anual subscription?

IVAN, this is an anual subscruption for commercial use.

I'm really impressed with this light, fast-loading, verging-on-futuristic office suite. Much as I like my very inexpensive SoftMaker Office 2016, I am definitely going to be using the OnlyOffice desktop app to familiarise myself with it. Not least because I anticipate using their cloud-based solutions in future. OnlyOffice makes their software available free to non-profits and educational institutions, and I'm in that sector. A thousand thumbs up to you, OpenOffice!
Some info on their *cloud* solution: http://www.onlyoffice.com/benefits.aspx
Comparing OpenOffice with free solutions from Google, etc, is not comparing like for like. For $2 per user/month you get a complete, integrated business service: online document editors, document management, CRM system, project management, collaboration, mail aggregator and IM. That's going to present a real challenge to Microsoft and quite a few other vendors.
@mike - OpenOffice recently released a document management app for Android. I have no doubt that Android office apps will be in the pipeline.
Well done GOTD for securing this quality giveaway. It's been a while.

-- Just realised that I kept talking about OpenOffice when of course I meant ONLYOffice. Sorry for any confusion.

Julia,
Where and how do you apply for free version for non-profits?

Okay, I gave this a quick look.
It takes a while to install (don't like that).
The page is a very dark grey and while I am usually into that colour scheme, I don't care for it in a word processor. There I like some colour because it helps to inspire me to write. This program does have a professional feel to it but I think it would have been wise to supply some skins. I also found it lacked the page modification settings that I am accustomed to. If they are there, they are not readily apparent.
I would also advise the company include more pictures of the program on their web site. Five pictures being the minimum and 20-50 being better to allow any potential user to see more of its potential.
So I will be sticking with Lotus Symphony, Libre Office and Open Office to do these kinds of tasks.

How do you register the Mac version?
Save | Cancel
Downloaded and installed on my Win10 pro system. Installed OK and tried a spreadsheet and doc. Well they work but it looks like the spreadsheet is geared to formatting and the word processor is pretty standard. So I uninstalled as I don't see the advantage over Libre Office or Open Office which are both more expensive and are not limited to a one year license.

Jack R, Libre is FREE.

It looks like ONLYOFFICE is competing with the Microsoft & Google biz office solutions, though with the potential handicap of having no iOS or Android apps.
The ONLYOFFICE FAQ [ helpcenter[.]onlyoffice[.]com/faq/faq.aspx ] says:
"ONLYOFFICE is a multifunctional portal for business collaboration, document and project management."
"ONLYOFFICE is for small and mid-size companies looking for an effective platform for business process management."
"It is the first editor built in HTML5 taking advantage of the Canvas abilities while all other existing online editors use HTML4."
On today's GOTD page it says that today's offer comes with a 30 day trial of their ONLYOFFICE portal [hosted on Amazon], while they have an open source Community Server you can freely use. The Desktop Editors themselves are free for individual home use -- the GOTD is for the Business Edition... since there's only the one download referenced on their site, it seems to me that the difference is licensing rather than software.

Ascensio Systems,
Thanks for offering your product, but please explain how it is better than the free alternatives out there.

Pete, ONLYOFFICE offers a personal edition that is free as well. As for the differences ONLYOFFICE offers the support for all popular formats, MS Office and OpenDocument file formats, among others, and allows you to switch to the online mode, if needed, and collaborate on documents with your friends or team mates providing you with different collaboration tools.

Tatiana,
Thanks: LibreOffice is already supports both OpenOffice and MS Office formats offline, and Google Docs supports those formats with online collaboration; but I will say, I'm not aware of another suite that offers both online and offline editing. Interesting, but I'd have to find a use for it.

There's also a Free version on the site for when this one expires.

Hi, Cat Tilley,
On the top of the free-d'loads page they say:
"Free for SaaS users" (who are they?)
"Get your license key from your portal admin" (is she/he me?)
A bit confusing.

mishasin,
Software as a Service or SaaS is a way of delivering applications over the Internet – as a service. Also known as cloud software, ASP, on-demand software or hosted software.

mishasin, "Free for SaaS users" is a time-limited offer. For personal use, it's free as well - http://www.onlyoffice.com/apps.aspx Just select the Personal option while installing the office suite.

Not worth spending my valuable data to download this program (231 Mb) which is just valid for one year..

Abraham, You're right. Besides, there are several free solid alternatives.

Where's the Linux version of this software? I downloaded from a Linux PC, so expected a .deb file rather than .exe.

Daniel, I've been trying out an OS called Zorin, which is Linux-based. I downloaded the zip file from your link and tried to install it. I got these messages, which make no sense to me. Below is an exact reproduction of the messages.
