Printing anything to PDF is a function that MS Office has integrated a looong time ago and any decent *free* PDF viewer - Adobe Reader, Foxit Reader, just name it - offers. These guys have made it a payable app. Am I missing something???

i have been using novapdf v(i forgot). This also gets the job done.
But it was given away few years back.
It was basic and didn't require online activation and didn't require any .Dot Net Framework (with out .Dot net 4 or 4.5 etc). I already have it, because some software requiresd it so. So now i have two nova pdf creator. Will remove this one, It looks like it was created for Win 7 & 8 & 10.

Okay, I figured out registering. Ignore the initial online activation panel. Open the program and go into licenses, Choose activate from there. The rest of the instructions work as written, from there.

For some reason, the activation key that I received in my email is getting an "Invalid activation Key" Message. I have made sure that I put the full key in, as I have been entering license keys for a long time. :-/

Seems to work well.
So far no problems, bug, crashes or dirty tricks.

Gary, Doesn't work with less than Windows 7 according to the website.
Save | Cancel
Therese, website says:
"This PDF printer driver is compatible with 32/64-bit editions of these operating systems: Windows 10, 8/8.1, Windows 7/Vista/XP SP3 and Windows Server 2012/2008/2003. It also requires the .NET framework (you'll be prompted during installation if it's not already installed).

Therese, I don't know which site you were looking at, and Softland doesn't make it easy to find, but once you do find the system requirements it states as "Pea" states that it is compatible with all Windows OS since XP, for both 32 & 64 bit machines. And every source I've checked, such as Softpedia, agrees with that.
And I'm not sure why it is getting such low ratings today as it is a reasonably high rated software.

Pea, Nope that's not what the website says. It may also need MS Office as noted in the exerpt below.
Windows 7
Windows 8
Windows 10
Microsoft Office® 2007 or later version (required for some PDF creation features)

Gary, I agree -- Foxit Reader is a really excellent and intelligently laid out program that puts Adobe Acrobat to shame. It has far more functions and features, and yet is very straightforward to use.

Hmmm I can't figure out why I would install this? I can create a PDF in Microsoft Word. I use a free extension in Firefox to screen grab and it automatically creates a pdf after it captures the page.
Perhaps I'm missing something that this software does that I can't do already?

Thankful, Well, if you don't have Microsoft Word, your setup won't work. I never buy Microsoft Office as I think it's overpriced and I certainly don't have Word except for the free viewer.

Therese, uh maybe you misunderstood my coomment. I didn't say I did not have Microsoft Word. As a matter of fact I have Office 2016. My comment was to emphasize the fact that it appears that everything this pdf software can do can already be done in MS Word and with free browser extensions in Firefox.

Thankful, We all run into situations where we wish to create a PDF from some other application than MS Office/Word (or OpenOffice Writer, for that matter). Since this software acts as a "printer" in ANY case where something is to be printed, it can come in really handy when working outside of the Office "box" as it were. I have several other PDF generators, including the full version of Adobe Acrobat itself - an older version of which can be found for no charge if you look hard enough. Just Google "free Adobe CS2" - including quotation marks, and you should see it somewhere in the results page. In fact, the entire Creative Suite is included, which includes Photoshop, InDesign and AfterEffects (just a few of the apps included with the CS2 suite).

Don Hill, Thanks for your reply but I wasn't commenting based on the need for specific software. I was simply wondering about the need for this particular software. I appreciate the info about CS2 but I actually already have the Adobe CC Suite.
Maybe I need to be more mindful of what I'm writing here and express myself more succinctly. Have a great day.

I've been using PDF lite for ages...its brilliant... It seems to work with almost any program including Open Office, photoshop CS6, Serif Page plus (DTP ) and good only knows how many others..highly recommended!

it seems the program can create pdf-files with compatibility to PDF/A-1b
---
I have not seen any free pdf-creator which can do this.
Is there any free ...?
---
Creates PDF files compliant with the PDF/A-1b specification for RGB colorspace thus can be used for long-term archiving of documents in PDF format.
PDF/A is a PDF file format used for long-term archiving of documents in electronic format that uses PDF Reference version 1.4.

Documentation is buggy and confusing.
On one page: "This PDF printer driver [...]. It also requires the .NET framework (you'll be prompted during installation if it's not already installed)".
On another page: "Compatibility. [...] doesn't require 3rd party programs such as [...] runtime environments like .NET Framework.".
First, the .NET framewrok is not a 3rd party. Second, which .NET version?
Then, the feature matrix comparison contains a lot of marketing bs, e.g. "Print from any Windows Application". Would've been very disappointed if it read "Print from any Linux application".
This GOTD will produce huge PDF files because it doesn't do graphic compression.
Then, the web site says nothing about forms. Anyway, it's so easy to produce PDF forms with Libre/Open Office.
Now, I remember why I don't have this software in my toolbox. We can find cheaper (read free, as in free beer) PDF printers which do much more.
Save | Cancel
Or there's Microsoft Print to PDF free with Windows 10.
Of course Windows 10 has more bugs than all the software we can download of GOTD in more than one year :-)

A really ill mannered installer, no option as to where to install, no information as to where installed.
An equally ill mannered program, when I first attempt to print a PDF document it informed it would be set as the default printer.
This this was not an option it was take it or leave it, decided to leave it.
And decided the program have no place on my system, did not bother to register.
I always stall via an UnInstaller I have run it three times now still not cleared it from my system.
When I first looked at this program I thought there pricing was crazy as there is so much good freeware that can be used for the same functions.
I will be sticking with those

Just the software everyone wants to win a free copy of by finding the most bugs. That alone puts me off even trying the software.
Good luck those interested.
