Alternatives:

Free MediaHuman Audio Converter drops FLAC to MP3 for a whole directory tree in one drag-and-drop, and can erase the FLAC when done, making the results already cleaned-up and ready to use.

I use free IrfanView for image conversion, including batch, including deleting/overwriting source files if I want.

I've yet to find a video converter that batch down-converts to make files smaller on-screen size and file size to meet my preferred standard of 720p medium qualities and frame rate - any ideas?

Running the program it states that a new update is available.

Is it OK to update the program or will updating it kill the registration?

Download and registration went ok. The conversion from mp3 to FLAC appeared to go ok but only some players were able to play the converted FLAC files (GOM), while others couldn't (VLC). The important thing to me was playing on my digital audio player....they were not able to be played. I checked, Hidizs ap60 II does support FLAC. So, this program is useless to me unless the converted files can be played on a DAP.

I tried to convert a 4k .MOV file to mp4 (H.264). Did not work. Uninstalled

I was looking forward to running this on my ever increasing library of music but unfortunately ...... It fell at the first hurdle (That wasn`t adding my 500Gb`s + of music btw) but rather just adding 1 measly folder of 600MB , so i`m a little gutted as normally I get good vibes (no pun intended HaHaHa) from programs of this nature... Sadly it looks destined to be an uninstall for this one. (Microsoft contacted with error report details)

rick carlton, converting from a compressed format TO flac is pretty much pointless. You cannot ADD quality that has already been lost to compression. You're just fooling yourself that you have a higher quality file than what you really do, and taking up more space on your drive.

I bought this program (Basic edition) back in 2017 as part of a bundle called PhtoStars2107. The version number was 10.0.6109.25552, which is higher than the one offered today (10.0.6089). Both are copyright 2016. The trial downloaded from the developer site is 10.0.7243.19655 (copyright 2019). The version offered today is from 2016, so it makes me wonder how good it will do with modern high compression formats of video.

I did not install the program from 2017 because I bought the bundle for other programs. Only if reviews are great for this one will I try it. I don't want to bother otherwise.

The installer Properties Digital Signatures show September 2, 2016 8:45:46 AM. Very often a developer will update these before the giveaway date as well as the certificate, which for this setup program expired ‎Monday, ‎October ‎30, ‎2017 6:59:59 PM. Often that comes about with a version increase to give the impression it is better than the one before. I guess I should salute them for being honest.

The Privacy Policy and Terms link in the Setup process is for an https protocol, but the developer's site is not secure, so the pages do not show for these links. Remove the s (use http) to see the correct page(s). The Privacy page has its own problems (looks like it is a template that did not get items inserted). These are the common Englemann Software Terms and Privacy pages (not specific for this product).

After approving the terms, the first thing the installer does is attempt to start an elevated process to do the install. Since this program is merely for converting graphic, audio, and video files to a different format, there is no need to run at an elevated level for the install or while processing files. Therefore, I cannot allow it to install, and I would not even if it were a modern 2021 program. Thankfully, there are many alternatives. It is best to install it on a test machine. I verified your "About" issue, then restored it back to before the program was installed. I didn't bother investigating the conversions because I already know it is not a keeper.

I have yet to find a single Englemann Software program that I consider a "must-have" for the toolbox. It is sad because Englemann Software does have the types of programs many need/want, but they always end up being mediocre versions compared to the competition. I wish they could play ball with the big boys but so far they have not made it to the play-offs.
