You can select text but not edit it. Why even bother? Moving objects is fine but text editing is what most are looking for. Not really worth $20 price tag to just move an object (just photos actually). And to append or remove pages to the document, there are millions of freeware packages to do that - try a web search I'd rather not get into a 'this freeware is better then that one' discussion, find one that works for you.

I have installed the application, but refused to activate. It's saying ACTIVATION ERROR when I used the product key. I have done that time without number, still no solution.

Does the program have a redaction tool? Also, will I always be able to install and activate from the downloaded file?

wow. The view is tiny. How can I fix the font in THIS software? It's unusable with the tiny menus and guides.

I just installed, no problems, you need to dis-activate your anti-virus and run as administrator, does what it says, good product.

This does not appear to actually edit the PDF it just manipulates the display.
I went through a magazine PDF and deleted all the full page advertisements.
Even though the pages were no longer visible the size of the PDF remained the same. So It won't help you save space on your phone/tablet.

Reply   |   Comment by J Pend  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+31)

J Pend, When you edit a PDF file in Acrobat even, the result is usually much larger than the original even if there is less in it.
Open the file and then save it under a new name, and it comes out much smaller. It may or may not work the same for this programme, but try it and see. Let me know.

This program does not actually let you edit any part of a pdf file other than to extract, delete or reorder pages of a multi page pdf file. If you have a single page pdf file and want to edit the text on that page then this is not the program for that.

Reply   |   Comment by Glen  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+55)

Glen , your comment confirms something I've always believed of these so-called 'PDF Edit' programmes. I've tried LOTS of them and, at no time have I been able to edit the underlying text in the conventional way, i.e. place the caret in the text and make changes via the keyboard. I've come to the conclusion that the text (and for that matter any other object) is 'burnt' into the page(s) and cannot be changed directly.

There *may* be other ways of doing what you want. For example, if you wish to change just a small section of text, you might draw a text box (*without* a border), type in the required text (matching the text font, size, colour and so on), and then move the text box over the text you wish to 'edit'. But this won't work if (say) the added text box is too big to fit the space available.

From the blurb given for yesterday's offering (the Soda thingy), I was hoping to be able to convert the PDF file into (say) Word format, make the desired changes and re-convert that back to a PDF file. Sadly, it seemed to scramble even simple text files on all but the HTML converter (which was excellent), so in practice was a virtual non-starter.

I'm therefore forced to conclude that (IMHO) firms offering their products as a [quote] 'PDF Editor' are being somewhat economical with the truth... Which leads me to ask whether anyone knows of a Windows programme which will truly allow you to EDIT text directly, ideally for free but otherwise at a reasonable price. (Xara's superb Photo & Graphic Designer will import PDF files, allow you to edit anything you wish including text, and then re-convert it back to PDF - but at £34.99 that's probably way OTT).

Trivial, but I would suggest changing the activation box so I don't need to copy/paste both reg numbers to do the offline activation after closing it.

It gives you a choice the installation path. I installed it in the Program Files folder.
When installing this program just be careful and do not press preset choices mechanically, so you can install the software wherever you want.

If it helps:

Go to Settings and select "Do not check for updates", because, as most of us, the GOTD users, know, automatic updates may inadvertently lead to deregistration of the program.

Cheers,

consuella

Will this allow you to make a new PDF?

Reply   |   Comment by Larry Watkins  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-6)

.
[ Larry Watkins ],

Since PDF = Portable Document Format, what "new" document do you want to "create" ... that you cannot currently create new from an existing document in any other program just by "printing" to a PDF print-to-file printer anyway?

You gotta have a document first, then you can print, present, project, save it as a PDF Portable Document Format after you first created that document elsewhere in the first place.

Note that Microsoft's Operating System -- Windows -- comes with an XPS print-to-file printer that also allows creating compatible PDFs as print-to-files.

Do you mean "cut-and-paste" or "import" some document contents that exists elsewhere into a new PDF, a PDF that otherwise did not pre-exist, a document or document parts elsewhere that you currently cannot print-to-a-new-PDF-file?

So, how do you create new PDFs now such that you are looking for an alternative?

Hi, How to regional languages pdf document to a meaningful conversion of pdf. After getting the answer from users, i would try this software. If it only converts english, what about other languages. Is there a way

Reply   |   Comment by jraju  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

jraju,
I don't think PDF files care what language it has. It is just text on paper, use whatever language you have available. There is no language conversion here.

Reply   |   Comment by Kurt  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Kurt, But i used so much editors and when i tried it converts but the resultant output is not readable . it is in machine language of kind.
For eg, if i want to edit, then i have to edit using this . I even tried downloading the regional fonts to my control panel font folder. The output if in english, it correctly makes it editable, but if in other languages, then it is machine language conversion. so i ask. i will try this software any how. Hope to receive the reply

[ jraju ],

No, Movavi PDF Editor software has no text or character or font or content recognition.

It is for manipulating the parts of files, not content.

That is, it can export a page or picture.

You may even be able to highlight and copy text IF a document has text rather than a picture of text.

But Movavi PDF Editor software has no understanding of any meaning to you of whatever it imports or exports.

Movavi PDF Editor software cannot convert text to a picture, a picture to text, and has no idea if a picture is of a hat or a chapeau or a picture of the words "hat" or "chapeau".

Can delete pages.
Can add pages.
To activate, just use button at bottom right-hand side of program - no need to access Help menu.

Reply   |   Comment by detenova  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+43)

detenova,
To be fair, beyond changing typos or single words, editing text in a PDF file is difficult at best. Word wrapping would be next to impossible to do correctly, especially if it pushes stuff to the next page. Also, your computer might not have the same font as in the document. Yes, fonts can be embedded in the document, but it might be less than 100% of the font characters.

Reply   |   Comment by Kurt  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-5)

.
[ Kurt ],

... hence Movavi's inaccuracy at calling their software a "PDF Editor" when they really can only manipulate a subset of PDF file elements, NOT including PDF text.

Considering that most people experience "documents' as "text", I'd say that the inability of Movavi PDF Editor software to actually edit PDF text is a significant misrepresentation by Movavi, no matter how "hard" you think editing PDF text might be.

For those people who cannot find the program after installing it, I found that it does not install into either of the programs folders where you might expect to find it. Instead it installs into your roaming folder in C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\ where Name is the user name under which you ran the installation program. In my case this is on my C drive, though this may not be the case for everybody.

Reply   |   Comment by emperor  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+20)

emperor, There is no directory on my computer called roaming I have just checked. The program is allegedly activated, but does not appear on Soft Uninstall to uninstal it, nor in Control Panel add/remove. In fact it does not appear anywhere.
I did not run the installation under any user name, nor was asked too. Anyway if what you say is correct it is crazy. Fact — the programme is just not there! (Unless it is hidden in the registry — TK can tell us if this is possible, as I doubt it.)

Reply   |   Comment by Zen  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-9)

Zen , if your PC is a Windows machine, there is a Roaming folder. It is a hidden folder. Open File Explorer and enter "%AppData%" (without the quotes) into the address bar and then press Enter.

Reply   |   Comment by Brian  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

Zen , that directory is there for sure. You have to make sure that your folder settings allow you to see hidden files and folders. In Windows 10, go to a File Explorer window (Windows key +E will bring one up). Click File, Change folder and search options, View, and under Advanced Settings, make sure there is a checkmark next to "show hidden files, folders and drives".

Reply   |   Comment by Bebop17  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

Zen , You don't have to install it there. During installation this, and most program installers, give you an option where you want it installed. You just change the destination. I deleted theirs, made a folder in Program Files and chose that as the destination

Reply   |   Comment by beans  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

Reply   |   Comment by Zen  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-2)

Bebop17, In XP it is NOT, I see all hidden files.

Reply   |   Comment by Zen  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-2)

Zen, sorry, it is there in all versions of Windows that Microsoft still supports. (Also, sorry for the late reply). Brian's instructions should have brought up the folder XP uses instead. I assume this program would have installed in there for you by default, since the dev claims to support XP.

I'm not sure of the process for getting links included in comments, so let me just say there is an article on Technet titled "Windows XP Folders and Locations vs. Windows 7 and Vista" that you may find useful if anything like this comes up in the future.

Reply   |   Comment by Bebop17  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Zen , even Windows XP has a Roaming folder. It's C:\Documents and Settings\{user}\Application Data\Roaming. EVERY Windows XP system has it. It is impossible to not have it. Do what I said. Enter "%AppData%" (without the quotes) in the address bar of File Explorer and then press Enter. It will open the Roaming folder.

If you allowed it to make an entry on the context menu, then you can right click on a pdf file and select "Open with PDF editor". If I hadn't been paying attention at the install I would not have noticed this either.

Probably the same as Keith and Arthur. Downloaded alright, disabled AV, unzipped, read readme, pressed setup.exe and was told successfully activated. But where is it? No new files appear, no desktop icon, does not appear under programs in start key, just not there. A lot of questions about recommending it, how can I? Also asking me to instal software informer which of course I do not wish to do. The only button to press t get out of all that rubbish was "close" and I was returned to the GAOTD page on the internet.
What on earth is going on?

Reply   |   Comment by mira  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

Bill Rutan,
slight misunderstanding:
"Complete ready-to-use legal forms" means you have the option of filling out forms with predefined lines/areas, for your name, address, contract number, date, and so on.

Reply   |   Comment by mira  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+9)

but in the description of the program it says "Complete ready-to-use legal forms".

Key Features:

Open and view PDF files;
Merge multiple PDF documents into a single file;
Split one PDF into two or more files;
Edit different fragments of the document;
Add, delete, rotate, and rearrange pages;
Insert, crop, and resize images;
Apply digital signatures and stamps;
Complete ready-to-use legal forms;
Extract pages as JPG or PNG images;
Convert images to PDF files.

Reply   |   Comment by Bill Rutan  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-3)

Bill Rutan,
what you can do with the programm is to open a special PDF document which you for example had downloaded from a government office site - not to create a document nor get it from the program itself.
This downloaded PDF document may contain fields to fill in.
You then can fill in these fields on your PC/laptop and save the PDF-document to send it back by email. You won´t have to scan a sheet of paper to send it by email.
It´s the digital not he former analog way.

In a linguistic manner:
verb (complete) - object (ready-to-use legal forms)
To complete means to fill in.
What to fill in? Legal forms which are "ready-to-use".
Ready-to-use means you need not to anything else then to fill in the given fields for your name, adress and so on.
