Evaluate the beauty of a face!

MouseAxisLocker is a small Windows software utility, which easily locks the mouse axis and limits the cursor to move in a horizontal, vertical or 45 degree diagonal mode as long as hotkeys are pressed. The program receives your hotkey action in the global Windows environment, even in 3rd-party programs.

Users can use MouseAxisLocker in drawing/design software programs, or PC games which they need to force the cursor move horizontally or vertically.

The usage of MouseAxisLocker is quite simple: Press the hotkey to start locking the mouse cursor movement axis, and press the hotkey again to unlock. Users can also set MouseAxisLocker to run on Windows startup, and let it hide to the system tray automatically.

Works, though hot keys don't work using the number pad. Mapping mouse or tablet buttons to the hot keys, or keyboard keys if your keyboard has extras, would likely make it a bit quicker / easier to use. It's a small app -- <4MB -- with 4 files added to Users\ [UserName]\ AppData\ Roaming\. The only changes to the registry are a key for uninstall and entries for the Taskbar notification. FWIW, moving those 4 files from the Roaming folder to the program's folder won't work, so it's not super easily made portable.

It works in Vista, but will it work with Windows 95?

pnj, no as Windows95 is not Windows NT 4.0 or above... won't work with windows 1.0 either for same reason

Is there any diffrence between this and the always free version 1.0.0?

I wanted this for graphics and it fails to draw a nice clean line horizontally.

Trying to draw a rectangle is not intuative and not accurate so unless the .01 version has addressed this then there is no point in downloading in my opinion.

Terry i, only difference I see between not registered and registered is the addition of the word "(Registered)" appended to the title of the settings window there is no indication of the version number while running, even the About window does not state it! Functionally I see no difference and no nag screen counting down days of free unregistered usage left.

Terry i, this too allows 1 even few pixel deviation of Horizontal or Vertical locked modes if you are deliberately forceful with off-axis trackpad/mouse movements when trying it photoshop, 45degree produces a nasty irregular stairway diagonal, remember it's only version 1(.01) if I try to move in a regular roughly on axis H or V locked it does mostly work. It just fails to win a battle against a determined user that want's to fight it!

works in Vista, installer script specifies min version of windows it will install under is Win 2000 but executables inside a rated as NT 4.0 minimum it requires access to an admin account in order to install AND run as it hooks into a system DLL in order to modify mouse/track pad output. Note while it does work on the hosting remote desktop machine it is better to use it on the machine with the mouse/trackpad in use as it cannot modify the client. It seems to work as described. On my systems from WIn10 down to Vista the button next to the "Hide to Tray" button which is an "OK" button according to screen shots on their home page renders as a rectangle outline of the button so if that button is being depreciated because it make no sense and performs the same action as hide to tray? it needs a little more work to fully remove it.

TK, ah the rectangle OK button outline is a bad theme colour combination for a "greyed out inactive button" and the button comes to life if one selects start with windows or minimise to tray on startup and presumably if one changes the hots keys that are toggles like caps lock not shift keys like Shift, Ctrl, Alt and any hotkey selection after an activate selection deactivates the previous selection and does not auto switch to the new filter orientation which might have been more intuitive.

TK, looking at the AutoStart task scheduler entry for some reason the AutoStart entry "MouseAxisLockerStartupTask" has the option to only run conditionally when on AC power and to stop task if machine goes onto battery power... why?
This program should not add to power consumption excessively. oops it does use significant resources sporadically when actively restricting mouse axis movement. Maybe the developer should investigate why and if possible reduce the CPU usage and therefore power consumption.

TK, when shutting down or restarting windows sometimes the program prevents shutdown due to throwing up the "are you sure to exit?" this dialogue should only show when its the user closing the GUI or systray from the context Exit function it should not be presented when the system is signalling shutdown end task event. This is a problem and will likely result in the program being removed from autorunning and only be launched as and when it might be needed and manually closed when not needed. Hopefully the developer will see this and work on the problem and prevent the are you sure dialogue being presented at inappropriate times.
