I downloaded the program & am very satifised with the graphics. However the register box keeps popping up everytime the screensaver stays up for more then a minute or so. This is very irritating.

From BuBBy:
Christina, this giveaway ended quite some time ago. The nag screen is appearing because the software is not registered. Software can only be registered for free while the giveaway is still running. After that, the software can be purchased from the programs website.

Thanks, GAOTD, for an impressive screen saver, from one who generally stays aways from them. I believe Rixane Interactive's software to a be well-crafted and the renderings to be stunning. Fortunately I recently upgraded my video card to an Nvidia GeForce 6200 (announced in 10/2004), which is capable but far from being a front-line (or expensive) performer (it's more a state of the back-shelf). This software works fairly well, with a minimum of stutter.

For Rixane Interactive: The only minor annoying thing for me is that while I have configured this to be the active screen saver (Windows Display settings), when I click Apply, this is not saved, and the program has to be launched each time from a link.

I didn't have time yesterday to post high-resolution screenshots, and since this is similar to Solar System Earth 3D and Mars 3D, and Rixane Interactive has decent screenshots on their website, I figured people had enough information to make a decision. I now have some high-resolution screenshots, along with comparative images to show correct colors and scale, on BladedThoth's forum:

I did not see this one. my "giveaway of the day" for january 12 showed muvee now 2, even for the several times i logged in. GOTD can i please get this one? i like these 3d screen savers, and for some strange reason my browser didn't show it as january 12th's until now.

Thanks, I would love to have seen this but my graphics card didn't have Pixel Shader 2.0 support. As a nice touch and just before my PC crashed it connected to the internet and suggested I buy nVidia Geforce 6600GT or ATI Radeon X700 Pro. If you have either of these then you should be o.k. with this one.

I just downloaded this screen saver and all I can say is "WOW" this is one of those rare things of beauty that simply mezmorizes the viewer! I sat there and watched it for almost 15 minutes trying to spot Apollo moon landers because I couldn't believe the detail!

I generally don't collect screen savers, but this one is the first keeper I've seen in a very long time! Thanks GAOTD!

This is very much like Earth 3D and Mars 3D, but I don't think that it's as well done. For the filesize, the Lunar textures are pretty good, but the gray color is strange. The Earth's color is also off, and its luminosity is too high. While most screensavers are artistic and not realistic, the too-large scale of the Earth and Sun is annoying and fails to convey the vast distances in space. The music is just so-so. This is an OK screensaver, but it could easily be improved.

Some types of LCD's are much more prone to image retention than CRT's. Screensavers which use colors can reduce image retention; the grays used by Moon 3D would increase image retention in these LCD's, were it not for the fact that the images are moving.

#2, Belgian Dude, this is a true 3D screensaver. Not only are the Earth and Moon 3D, but the Moon textures use either normal maps or displacement maps for correct 3D lighting/elevation effects.

#18, Nig, Pixel Shader 3.0 isn't new, it's old. Decent cards support at least 4.1, which is only available in Windows Vista SP1.

Absolute crapware.
Installed and activated....6 times, and 6 times our pc crashed. It would not register without payment. There's no free lunch, but fortunately our pc is running beautifully again after removing this screensaver with 'Your Uninstaller. Didn't trust it to uninstall itself. Now to run my grooming progams again, which we just ran yesterday. Try and cry - if you must...

Msg from BuBBy: It is probably your computer (or perhaps drivers). If running an install and activate once doesn't work - there is little chance the problem will be fixed by running the same program another 5 times. Your computer doesn't learn by it's mistakes - repeating the install until the computer gets it correct isn't going to happen.

There's a display setting to fix that:

Right-click in your desktop, select Graphics Options, select Panel Fit, select Maintain Aspect Ratio.

31. "...Who downloads a screensaver to watch it?"

Actually, they're a good escape for people who've had a stressful day. Just switch it on from the Control Panel for a few minutes, watch it or just close your eyes and listen to the soothing music. Fantastic stressbuster right there, offered here by GAotD absolutely free.
Thanks again, GAotD.

Thank you for the Screensaver. But I'm slightly miffed with the imperfection cos the screensavers, TV shows and games that always shown the space colour as 'black' but it is actually deep midnight blue. Beside the colour, this screensaver is ...splendid!!

No 55 : nice - that's just what i want to say - but anyway, GAOTD needs to know whether "the majority" likes it or not.(as for screensavers, i think the majority doesn't like them)

People have a right to express thier views, thats what the comments' section is for.

PS: I still appreciate what GAOTD is doing, so dont get upset by these comments and keep up the good work.

Another PS: There should be an "edit" option for the comments.

I just downloaded, installed and viewed this, and I like it. So do my kids, who will stand there watching for the sun or Earth to show up while pointing out various cool craters or formations on the moon's surface. Anytime you can pique a kid's interest in science is a good thing, in my book.
Neither download time nor system requirements were a problem for me, even on a laptop, and it sure beats the lame standard screensavers that came with Windows. :) Thanks GAOTD!

Why is it that same people come back and pretty much copy and paste a response to EVERY SINGLE SCREENSAVER. We know you don't like them yet you post how much they suck, what a bad idea they are, and blah blah blah every single one. Stupidity is doing same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Constantly whining about screensavers and expecting them to stop offering them. I don't like screensavers but someone else might. Thanks anyway GOTD. Even though your offering something I don't want I still appreciate your efforts to bring us awesome free software.

This is a nice screensaver. I don't understand all the negative votes. As others have said we realize there is no longer a need for screensavers to combat monitor burn in. Today screensavers are about having fun. So lighten up a little guys. I wouldn't get too worked up about the pixel shader 2.0 requirement. Do I have pixel shaser 2.0? To be honest I have no idea. Not even sure how to find out if I do. All I know is every screensaver I have downloaded that has this requirement has worked fine for me. So if you are interested in this screensaver, download it and give it a try. If it works great. If not you can always uninstall it. Best of all is you get only the screensaver. There is no annoying screensaver manager to unistall. Thank you so much GAOTD staff. You guys do a great job and we greatly appreciate the programs you offer. Thank you too to the publisher Rixane Ineractive for your offering.

number 40...it sounds like you didn't activate the registration before activating the program. I would uninstall it and then activate the registration then activate the program. It says it on the info if you opened that.

Again, I want to thank GOATD and Rixane for giving the members who have invested in newer graphic cards a screen saver that utilizes our investment. It seems so many screensavers are geared toward older techology and not the current hardware...thus they look like crud on our pc's. Thanks for thinking of us too. I will probably buy the earth screensaver one now that i have seen a sample of the quality of there product and like it. If you have a nice graphic card and have become stand offish about downloading another cartoon screensaver, not to worry, this one is worth it, in my opinion great!

Screen savers look pretty at times but I'm not going to use them, especially ones that consume a lot of power. Setting the system into hibernation mode is a much healther alternitive.

If you have the resource to use apps. like this, then please do the self-less act of donating the resource and do some good. Go to www.worldcommunitygrid.org and sign up to give unused time and resources to help those in need. Doing our part and generously giving, what one would use on a screen saver, can help research better ways to fight disease.

Screensavers should not have high requirements. Sure it looks good but they will bog down your computer unless you have a high end computer. I like screensavers but I will not use any that have high memory or hardware requirements. There are several nice looking screensavers that do not put a strain on your computer.

I believe that most of us would like to see some actual softwares as givaways, not screensavers - screensavers are not something that you
would spend hours on, and you wouldn't even pay 15 bucks for it. Am I right?

Though I actually like space exploration and stuff, therefore I personally like it, but I think the majority would not. And dont forget The free Google Earth - it now has a new space feature, so besides viewing the Earth, you can also view the scenes of the Outer Space. Check it Out.

A screensaver should be a "saver" first and then something that use your "screen" while you are away (or not). Someone with Windows 98/Me/2000/ probably have old hardware, then this screensaver wouldn't be for them. A more closer to reality system requirements would be: Windows 2000 servers, powerful Windows XP machines or Windows Vista (Recommended). Unfortunately I have a normal Windows XP machine (Athlon 1800+ @ 1600 MHz, Gigabyte Radeon 9200 videocard with 128 MB of memory and 1 GB RAM). No pixel shader, no opinion, that's it.

ROTFL at some of these comments. You dial uppers understand that we with faster systems and high speed cable have to endure your programs, so be curtious and endure ours. I for one enjoy screen savers, and have a great collection of them. When you have a decent sized LCD monitor, along with a nice graphics card it adds to a rooms decor. I find just watching different savers at times to be a good source of stimulation to the brain, and in return it allows creativity to start to flow. Thanks GAOTD and Rixane for a great saver.

I learned my lesson with the Mars saver from a few weeks ago. I still have an older graphics card, so assuming this one won't work for me either. Oh well. If I want to check out images of the moon, I'll just haul out the pics I shot through my telescope and look at those instead; based on the screen shots, my pics are better anyway. LOL ;)

I am a big fan of GOTD, but I hate it when they give away screensavers! It has no use to anyone. Screensavers were made to darken the screen and save power! This screensaver (being over 11 MB) will just suck up all of the power on the computer! Plus, who downloads a screensaver to watch it?

First off, thank you very much GAOTD. team for another screensaver. I am serious. I like screensavers myself.
I always get the biggest kick out of when I come to this site and discover that when the FREE giveaway is a screensaver you see all the thumbs down.
Like another poster already mentioned, it's not that it's a bad screensaver, it's the cry babies for the most part that feel they are a waste of electric or whatever.
Yes, yes, yes. Once upon a time back in the old days with the older type of monitors, a person needed a screensaver to protect the monitor from screen burn.
Today, that is no longer the case. No one today needs a screensaver to protect there monitor.
I would like to think everyone knew this anyways.
Screensavers today are for mainly entertainment or to keep prying eyes out of there work plain and simple.
Matter of fact, I don't understand why some people go out of there way to make people think it's going to eat up electricity when clearly they do not.
It's quite easy to right click on the desktop and select properties and then the screensaver tab and either select a screensaver or select NONE.
Man that must be a tough task huh ?
Thing is, everytime GAOTD. offers a screen saver as the give away of the day, the screensaver haters come crawling out from the woodwork.
This is a very nice screensaver. I give it 8 out of 10.
Thank you very much GAOTD. team and Rixane Interactive for another nicely detailed screensaver.
