Will there be a rerun? I get an error message that the registration server is out of keys. And there is some time left. 1h20m.

This is extremely pointless because it requires root, which if your phone is rooted? There are a bazillion free recovery tools that work on rooted phones, its the hundreds of thousands of phones which have no way to be rooted that need this kind of software which of course this doesn't work on...again completely pointless.

Installing and using the serial code for the first time, the program said "Max number of registrations". How pathetic!

Installed fine in both XP SP3 and Win7, but the program itself always immediately crashes on startup...

Reply   |   Comment by temp10min  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

On another system it installed and started fine in XP, but trying to activate with the provided serial produces the error "Max number of registrations".

In conclusion - not a good GOTD today, don't bother...

About my last comment, I used the feedback within the software to let MiniTool know about my activation problem with the rejected GOTD code. And they answered me very quickly and gave another code which was accepted and activated without any problems.

This product downloaded and installed fine on Windows 7, but when I launched it to try and put in the activation code, I kept getting the "no disk in drive" error... over and over and over again. So much so, that I didn't even have time to put in the activation code. After spending 10 min putting in a letter/number of the code in between cycles of this annoying error, a pop is displayed that says something about having reached my limit of uses. It still is showing as unregistered. After reading these reviews, it doesn't seem worth the hassle.

As far as I was aware the software license was valid as long as it was registered before the end of the day.... soooo wtf? am I missing a step somewhere?

Well, add to the many problems the fact that this software will NOT register. At least not for me.

It gives a continuous (many tries) error message:

Hmmmm! I downloaded, installed and attempted to activate. After copying and pasting my registration code I received the following error message: "! Max number of registrations."

Can anyone please tell me what I should do to get the registration (activation) completed?

Installed on Win 7 x64 without issues

Galaxy S6 recognized immediately by the application with no issues. The phone is rooted with SU auto permissions-grant turned on for quick requests grant. This actually on a phone which couple of weeks ago had all pictures and videos deleted. Phone was not formatted or factory reset since then.
There is no SD-card in the phone, and only the phone's internal memory was scanned.

MiniTool Mobile Recovery for Android offers two scan options: Deep scan (default selected) and Quick scan.

Using the deep scan where everything is selected, returned no for photos or videos.. 0 to be precise.
Raw and Document also returned 0 results; while Messages & Log Call returned results for messages, contacts, call history, whatsapp contacts, and whatsapp attachments.

Quick scan with only Gallery and Video selected, returned few camera pictures, a lot of app pictures, and 60+ videos.
Bare in mind that the phone had 600+ camera pictures and 150+ videos deleted.

I would have thought that deep scan should give far better results than quick scan, but it is definitely not the case here.

For that, and for the 0 results on Photos & Videos, RAW & Documents from deep scan, i'll have to ditch MiniTool Mobile Recovery for Android for now, sorry.

FWIW...
Android is a collection of code that the device manufacturer makes into a working OS individually for each model device that they make. IOW it's not like Windows where everyone with the same version gets the same things. And manufacturers do sometimes leave stuff out when they set up Android for one or more of their devices. That can mean that sometimes software like MiniTool Mobile Recovery won't, maybe can't work as intended, despite the dev's best efforts.

As Adrien pointed out, rooting a Android device may or may not be a good thing. You can read about it, & the ramifications, at sites like AndroidCentral[.]com & xda-developers[.]com .

For those with Samsung devices, they have a fairly small & painless Windows driver installation package available now [SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.45.00]

Download and everything went without any problems. However, my Android which is rooted and unlocked in every way it can be is not recognised by the software. I've checked and reinstalled all the drivers and everything is fine. Phone can connect to PC via USB normally without any problems, it just seems to be this software that doesn't work properly, it didn't detect that my phone was connected to the PC. Checked the instructions just in case I was missing something Decided after messing about for an hour that it wasn't worth the effort and uninstalled and unimpressed.

Downloaded and installed fine on Windows 10. You do have to allow their device software permission, but that's expected. The UI(user interface) is simple, but yet offers no popup bubbles to tell you what everything is. The obvious is an SD card and a Phone. But there are several other options on the bottom right that are small boxes. An arrow, i, shopping cart, etc. I didn't want to just click on those to see what they do, they didn't pertain directly to testing the software. There is the 3 line menu up in the top right that has a tutorial if you needed that.
I had an old Galaxy S2 I used to test. Simply plugged it in with a Micro USB cable and the software recognized it.
I left the defaults, which was to find all info photos, messages, contacts, call history, etc. Each item defaults to selected, but you can deselect anything. Also it defaults to do a deep scan to find deleted items.
I didn't have much on the S2 it seems so it only found contacts and call history. I wanted to check on that I had done a factory reset on. However, I don't have one of those so I'm not sure what it would find, but I'd doubt anything.
On the S2 it ran rather quickly since there wasn't much on it. Since it mainly pulled off contacts for me that is where I had the most information. It saves it in 3 formats for you.
• In a .csv(comma separated value) file for something like Excel to look at.
• It saves it as an HTML so any browser can see it.
• Then finally it saves it as .vcf files so you can load them right back into your contacts on a new phone if you wanted.
This is actually a nice way to get them if you didn’t have access to your contacts. There were deleted contact names found, but none of the actual contact information associated with them.

I would like to test other models later and I can report back their results if I do under this initial test. Maybe I can find a phone that is a little newer and has good information to recover.

Not so good: to use MiniTool Mobile Recovery for Android for data recovery, your Android device requires root authority. However, it is not easy for average users to do this, for a tiny mistake may lead to root failure.

Does this require any kind of app installation on the Android device?

Reply   |   Comment by M.  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+10)

Hello M.,

Install software to the PC then connect your phone or SC Card from your phone via card reader. Scan phone/card, select that which you prefer in terms of scanning levels then wait for results. Select from results what you want saved and to where. Pretty much the same routine as any recovery program such as recovery from an external hard drive, USB drive, SD Card, etc. The website has simple step-by-step instructions including pics that help outline all of this in an easy to follow process if you wanted to check into it before installation.

Reply   |   Comment by Tweak  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

M., You should root your smartphone! :(

Reply   |   Comment by Robert P  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-5)

M., I checked their home page. Does not look like you need to install on the Android device. You connect with a USB cable. If this is the first time connecting your Android device, on the device, you have to authorize the PC to connect to it. You also have to install drivers for the PC to detect the device (software will prompt for it and download).
I was going to download this until I saw it was only a one year license.
