I tried and tried to use this. With very little success. The buggiest software I have ever got! Plobrems too numerous to list. Flashing graphics, freeze ups, tools not working, etc.!!!!

Apparently this is not designed for x64 systems...as others above have said, installed ok on Win7-64, but will not "process" the photo.

#Giovanni reference (Portable) Chasys Draw IES

It is NOT portable.
http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=51476

The setup will install in your PC.
Only after your PC installation, then you can build a "portable" copy.

These are exact words of the software author:
"PORTABLE VERSION
You can build a portable copy of Chasys Draw IES by going to File > Install to USB after installation. Setup does not build portable installations."

Same CRASH-ERROR report as posts #s 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 26, 28, 29, 30, 31, and 34. With such a huge number of failure reports, wouldn’t it be enough for the developer to either re-evaluate this software and make the proper correction or pull it out from GOTD for TOTAL FAILURE in order to spare other oncoming downloaders from wasting time?

Tried to load in Win 8, did not respond. same for the skin filter. A pity really as i had found both useful in Win 7.

It's like the preference between Kodak and Fugi. Fugi is more on the green side, and Kodak on the red... Learn to use your color levels tool in your photo editing program like photo shop to pump up green.

Thanks to PixelApp Studio and GOTD.

The output reminds of the Jpeg photos we get from Sony's new camera the RX-1. Straight out of the camera with no photoshop processing.

Is it garish and unreal colours? But owners of Sony RX-1 like it that way.

As the dot tech reviewer at post #1 was unable to get the program to work, and thus the review is of little help to a prospective user, here's a quick summary of my experience:

* Fast fuss-free download, installation and registration on Vista and without any email harvesting or bundled-in crapware. Excellent.

* Screen is resizable (excellent), but developer's colour choice for GUI of what is, after all, colour management software, downright baffling. (Nauseous.)

* Image processing very fast and has been carried out on my computer without a hitch. Excellent.

* No twin-screen provision, i.e.: you cannot view the original image with the work-in-progress image alongside. Poor.

* No ability to selectively process; using Chroma to "punch up" an already blue sky also "punches up" every other aspect of the image. Poor.

Test results:

This software was compared image for image with post-processing in the well-established, well-respected freeware IrfanView. Images were imported into IrfanView and then Image / Color corrections chosen from the drop down menu bar. This screen features two small viewing panels side-by-side, the original and the work-in-progress image. Color corrections allows for Brightness, R/G/B Color balance, Contrast, Gamma correction and Saturation. Brightness was left at the default 0 and Saturation progressively increased.

Comparing the output of Magic Landscape Filter and Irfanview showed that Magic Landscape Filter performed more easily, and therefore much more quickly, than Irfanview. Both manipulated the entire image area, though with Irfanview it was possible to make some corrective adjustments to the Color balance (Magic Landscape Filter does not permit this level of fine-tuning.)

Further experimentation with Magic Landscape Filter's Chroma adjustment actually resulted in a generally more pleasing -- and punchier -- image than Irfanview achieved.

Verdict:

A lot of camera owners never bother with post-processing and certainly don't own the massively expensive, and massively complicated, Adobe Photoshop, the de facto software for image management. Others, however, make use of either the software that came with the camera, or value-for-money stripped-down versions of Photoshop, or freeware like Gimp and Irfanview.

For that group, today's giveaway is well worth downloading as a quick, easy, and reasonably effective way of adding visual impact to an image.

At $19.99, however, the program is over-priced, and the developer would do better to incorporate it within an image management suite. Recommended, then, as a giveaway today, but that $19 99 re-install price doesn't do Magic Landscape Filter, or its users, any favours: it's impossible to see any commercial future for this software in current guise / at current pricing.

Thanks, GAOTD, and PixelApp Studio.

There is a place for software that can do quick, batch "enhancements" and they are not intended to compete with more heavyweight packages.

However, the standard price for such products is often too high compared with the heavyweights.

In this case I cannot comment on the quality because it failed on the first jpeg it was offered!?

System.BadImageFormatException: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007000B) etc. etc.

No other photo package has complained in the slightest to any of my photos - oops!!

Because the photo that failed had been through ACDSEE (2.5) and had the author and copyright set, I tested with a jpeg directly from a card from the camera and the same got the same failure.

Download and registration was as straightforward and quick as it gets.

Todays offering does as it's meant to and quickly changes the look (Improves??) of any photograph with ease. Simple and straightforward.

How much use it is to the individual really depends on the software that you have on your computer and how good you are at using it. Gimp does a similar job but my favourite (Photoscape - Free all the time) leaves this in the dust for ability but it is far more complex and has a much steeper learning curve.

Because of it's limitations I probably wont be keeping it but it should suit many of you that do not wish to spend the time learning how to get bigger & better programs to do the same job.

Thanks GAOTD and Pixelapp for the opportunity to try it out.

#4: "I wouldn’t say it increases the brightness, so much as the color saturation. It does seem to makes things a bit less grey, making the colors “pop” out. Can make things looks a little unnatural, even though more interesting."

Regarding the unnatural part, what some folks might try is saving the image out of Magic Landscape Filter & combining it with the original on a separate layer in an editing app [e.g. The GIMP]... open the original, put the Magic Landscape version on a new layer above it, & try different methods of merging the 2, along with varying the amount of that upper layer's transparency. That way you might add just a bit of *pop* if you prefer.

Also, *If* you like playing around with this sort of thing, might try switching to the Lab color space in your image editor, working with combining the 2 images there -- that should give you a few more options. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lab_color_space

This is exactly the same version that we were given a couple of years ago. If you reinstall it, you'll have to re-register. Like #3,5,7, it no longer works, which is curious since the code is the same. Maybe Microsoft changed .NET and they didn't retest. I either tested it previously, or if it didn't work then, tested the samples. It certainly doesn't compare well to professional tools, but nothing here does.

Someone asked whether yesterday's 3D converter can be used without glasses. If it's capable of producing side-by-side output like YouTube 3D, then yes. You have to look at the image cross-eyed (easier in the dark), it's a bit of a strain and not everyone can do it. You can search and read about how to train yourself to merge the images. The resolution is inherently limited, but it doesn't require a special monitor and it doesn't distort the colors.

You can watch the loser vote-manipulator vote my comment down, unless they read this, which I don't think that they're capable of.

Downloaded fine and registered (but registration key had to be copied - would not accept copy/paste)

Every attempt to use with JPG image crashed showing

"unhandled exception has occurred in your application ~ An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format (Exception from HRESULT:0x8007000B)"

Attempts to ignore the exception failed and the program had to be closed using Task Manager.

W7 Home Premium X64 8Gb RAM

Accordingly, uninstalled and a big thumbs down.

Been a fan of PixelApp Studio's since I had won a copy of SpringPublisher a while ago and been enjoying the program ever since...

This tool does a great job if your planning on printing on a laser printer... I also use it to fix wildlife images does wonders on photo's that contain furry animals.

Yes there are tons of freewares to adjust what this program does... but for the non tech savy 20$ is dirt cheap to fix a landscape photo for printing in a catalog to sell your house and land.

P.S: The higher the resolution the better the results.

Well, I downloaded and installed it, and the I dbl clicked on the shortcut to start it and it took about a minute before it started. I then added one jog picture to it and it showed at the top. I then click the thumbnail of it at the top and it crashed. I had to use task manager to close it. I then tried again with the same jpg picture and it crashed again so I copied the error log it created and it is posted below.

I have Windows 7 64 bit

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I wouldn't say it increases the brightness, so much as the color saturation. It does seem to makes things a bit less grey, making the colors "pop" out. Can make things looks a little unnatural, even though more interesting.

Installed and registered fine. (Use the internet registration option.) I was excited about trying this but it crashed every time I get try to convert the picture I upload. I get this error:

For the developer, the details of the error have been placed here:
http://justpaste.it/27de
I am on a Windows 7 x64 with great specs.
Had it worked I would suggest adding drag and drop and a help file to the program or at least the product website.

As a pro myself, I can say it doesn't really make your pix like they were shot of reversal, 'chrome or "slide" film -- it just tends to make them look more GARISH.

Having said that, it does have some uses -- such as brightening up pix shot on a dull day, or where the colours just don't seem to come through.

You can get similar results by increasing the saturation with some photo editors, but this does do some things that others don't. I don't strongly recommend it, but I can say that if you think you might have a need for such a programme -- get it and try it out -- and SEE if it is a keeper for you...

Pros
*Automatically applies enhancements to photos but you also have the option of manually modifying chroma, brightness, and use grayscale, if desired
*supports batch processing
*Supports JPG/JPEG, PNG, GIF, and BMP formats

Cons
*Is buggy
*Has not been updated since 2009

The message from the Developer:

The problem most of you described during the promotion hours would only happen on 64bit OS(no problem on a 32bit system).

To fix this issue you may follow this instruction to run the apps in 32-bit compatibility mode of Windows:
Right click on the link of the program.
Click on Properties.
Click on the Compatibility tab.
Click on Run this program in compatibility mode and select: Windows XP(Service Pack 3)

Sorry for all the inconvenience.
