I love wallpaper and screensavers, but even though I can run 3D screensavers I haven't been able to run animated wallpaper on my XP desktop. I always get an error message about raster. Too bad, I was hoping to get this heart. To GOTD: Are we going to get screensavers again on holidays like we have received from previous years or are you moving toward offering only animated wallpaper now?

@bobbo Have you tried downloading the free Revo Uninstaller? I think I got it at CNET, and it's been wonderful. Much quicker than Microsoft's feeble effort, and it'll check for and, at your direction, delete left over bits and pieces. It automatically creates a restore point before it does anything else, so you can always undo it if you think you took out something you shoulda kept.

The golden heart only shows the top portion of the heart- the two arches. Maybe this is a McD's ad? ;) Anyway, I'm uninstalling it. Cute idea, by not for my W7 64 bit PC.

Hi, @ Mike (mike, post 17) - "Google’s page has a cute & appropriate addition today too". Indeed:) If anyone wants to play that Google mini game on PC offline - just open today's Google page (in my case in IE9) and you'll see it's address in top window similar to this: http://www.google.co.uk/webhp?nord=1 ,replace it with this one: https://www.google.com/logos/2014/vday14/vday14html - Original Source
Once is there - save that page in .mht format to desktop, or wherever and enjoy time after time!:)

Happy Valentine's Day to All and thanks for Today's Gift GAOTD.

"Gold is the strongest element on earth"?? Gold is actually a rather soft metal.

Otherwise, looks like a fun screensaver for those that like them.

No chance anyone will produce a wallpaper I'd be interested in downloading... most veterans here probably build their own. Must be a "filler day" at GAOTD. Like the endless video offerings, absolutely no interest in this. A desktop graphic is not a legit software giveaway.

Coders, write some good ship [sic]: new OSs to supplant MSFT's awful winOSs (no fructose wanted either); stable encryption without NSA backdoors; secure pc-to-pc chat programs; proactive anti-bot software that returns malicious bots to source rather useless after-the-fact scanning pseudo-defenses; auto ISP blocking programs, PC and server versions, based on real time threats being propagated; web site file editing software that recognizes only the computer that installed it to prevent cracking by all other sources; a user-friendly program to replace irritating captcha; desktop email client that easily replaces MSFT's error prone Office; a program that allows printing web pages to PDF in win7 with older versions of Acrobrat (not merely another pdf clone( real users have Acrobat, PhotoShop, Office, etc.); software to control a household/business location's security and energy use; inventory software that doesn't cost as much as all the items being listed; the list of viable and needed software possibilities is endless and largely untapped. Almost forgot an important suggestion, web site software that is an absolute block to robots reading content--google, yandex, yahoo, NSA, fed.gov, other governments, etc.; that's valuable code.
Why is the same old same old overused handful of ideas repeated endlessly? "Wheels have already been invented". Think outside of uTubular and Facelessbook dead ends. ©2014 All rights reserved.

"Since it’s of no use whatever beyond the day it’s offered for free I guess this GAOTD is more of a break in transmission than a real offering. No one is actually going to pay money to buy it after 14th Feb has passed."
#13 terryB, you do realise there's going to be a 14th Feb next year, and the one after that and so on, don't you?.

I purchased both the wallpaper and screensaver makers from this company, with the extension packs they threw in on those deals and for my kids, and I they have really been a hoot. We've spent hours playing with the provided graphics, and have created some cool stuff. This time around, those makers are still full price, and I honestly would not purchase the wallpapers individually.

So, no real deals today except for a cool little animated wallpaper for free. If you're not ready to pay full price for the other stuff perhaps we will see them discounted again. Everything runs great on Win 7 (64) and the makers have the capability to import gifs but they give you a lot of existing graphics to do cool stuff with. In combination with a good gif creation tool the limit is your imagination.

Thanks AW7 for another wallpaper, and the opportunity to talk about your fun offerings.

In reference to #4's post, the method of canonization we're most familiar with today did not come into existence until the 12th century. Prior to that, sainthood came about by local acclimation of the people, those who would be most knowledgeable about the candidate, and then confirmed by the bishop. None of the apostles, or disciples like Paul or any of the Church Fathers were canonized by popes. Neither was that great saint so admired by all of us sinners, Augustine. In those days all martyrs for the Faith, like Valentine, were proclaimed saints as they gave the ultimate sacrifice and witness.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

Thanks GOTD & AnimatedWallpaper.com

Google's page has a cute & appropriate addition today too.

Today's about celebrating a bit as you can -- you don't really need a cause or to examine the history, or anything beyond an excuse to celebrate really, but if you must have some reason, celebrate because it's good for you. :) If you don't have a romantic interest to celebrate with, celebrate that, & maybe head over to despair.com for a chuckle or three. If you do have someone, remember that whatever you do the other 364 days, today is supposed to be special -- you may not think so, but chances are they do. ;)

Happy Valentine's Day to You & Yours

ouialaraison - Thank You. Worked like a charm. I read the "ReadMe.txt" file too fast (or too panicked) and did not recognize your clear instructions. ((I hate it when THAT happens!))

I installed the WP twice trying to figure out where the file was installed so I could find a drop down menu, and as you mock me==my computer started to get unstable. My icons were flashing and documents and websites were crashing.

Well, again==following the info you already gave was all that was needed. Back to normal now. ((fyi, don't know why but the settings tab never became "active" for me. Eg I could not "demute" the sound.)) Each system can be a bit different I suppose.

Thanks for hanging around and answering SOS calls.

bobbo.

@ people who (in “How would you improve…”) suggest the possibility to add text to the wallpaper:
Wait until next time DP Animated Wallpaper Maker is offered here: it includes this feature. You can even make the text appear/disappear and animate it. But you will have to create the wallpaper by yourself.

A thumbs down to those who give a thumbs down simply because the giveaway is a screensaver. May all your online games freeze at critical moments.

@ bobbo
Right click on Animated Wallpaper little TV icon in the systray (beside your clock) then click on "exit".
You shouldn't have deleted the readme, this is what I made it for... :)
I sincerely hope all the standard and "advanced" things you tried didn't mess up your PC.

#3 -ouialaraison, or anyone else:

I find the Birth of Venus Animated WP to be distracting. I can't figure out how to uninstall it. I've done all the standard stuff and even some advanced things to remove it or stop it from running.

Little Help?

Hello, i downloaded this file and installation went ok.
But when i open the program, it only covers half the desktop, their were numerous settings to be laid. Like fit/ stretch / etc, but all of them failed in covering the entire desktop.
Sorry uninstalling.

From the heart:
I am definitely not a fan of wallpapers but in a world where everywhere you look, there seems to be famine, war and floods, this might just put a smile on the face of someone you love.

From the head:
Installed fine on Win 8.0 64bit.

So, it seems we have a "double deal" today thanks to ouialaraison.
Official GOTD, well I don't know how it should look but on my system it looks weird. I am not sure but this can't be right?

However the screensaver and animated wallpaper presented by ouialaraison looks a lot better to say the least.

downloaded and install easily on win8.1 Nice animations, but at times seeing programs on the desktop was kind of hard. This however seems like it would mainly be used once a year. As with any animated wallpaper, this is just another process that is going to slow down the computer. While nice I suppose, not worth keeping very long if at all. Thanks for posting it though :)

Valentine!?
Now where does he fit into my love life?
This Money generating Gimmick ought to be abolished as such a practice is neither culture nor religion.I would rather give my better half flowers every weekend to cherish my love life.

I consider St. Valentine's feast day a gimmick as much as this animated wallpaper. In those old days they acclaimed everyone Saints. Valentine was martyred as the story goes on 14th of February. He was not canonized (I'm not saying I discredit Gelasius, but if this is to be made a valid feast day, Valentine must be canonized by a Pope).

AnimatedWallpaper7 is the marketing arm of DesktopPaints to distribute animations created with its Animated Wallpaper Maker. Sometimes, we are also offered here screensavers created with Desktop Paints’ Animated Screensaver Maker. The two programs also are regularly offered here.
I always thought, not only that most of these readymade wallpapers and screensavers sold by DesktopPaints are ugly (but it is just my very subjective opinion) but also more objectively that they are poor, and don’t make the most of the numerous capabilities of the very creative AWM and ASM. I bought the licenses for these programs allowing me to create my own animations but would not consider paying for the readymade stuff, which would be at the same time less fun and less economical.
So, as my personal contribution to the celebration of Valentine’s day, here follows a link to download an animation of the goddess in charge of these love matters, as she was once represented by a guy who wasted time and resources coloring a useless panel that doesn’t even “save” the wall of the museum on which it is hanged (an answer in advance to the “animated wallpapers and screensavers are not needed… such programs are useless, they waste resources” blah blah… that I predict will be posted as usual: not everything has to be useful, as long as it is fun and/or beautiful).

Installed without problems on a Win 8.1 Pro system.

Consider it as what it should be : a nice gimmick for Valentins Day.

Must run with administrator rights, lets rain stars on the desktop and rise hearts as balloons. On my desktop the colors of the windows fade, so that you have difficulties to see where are the programs.

Nothing I would put on the desktop window of my girlfriend, wife or ...
