Amendment to my comment. I finally got it activated. They gave me 2 codes. One when I registered on site and one in my email. The one in my email had 1 extra number/letter at the beginning of the key....So that made all the difference. So I guess the Total Media Convertor Ultimate is the same as video convertor.

The License code I received was invalid. I installed what was on page, and even download had the same name. when it installed, it installed as, "Leawo Total Media converter Ultimate 7 - downloaded it twice, it downloads as leawo video converter. But regardless, the key I received is not valid, when I put it in, it says, "invalid license 100201" This is the 3rd time in like a week that the registration was no good, never did find out anything on that esso recovery thingy, I can't even remember the name of it now.. If this keeps up with all the giveaways, I don't know. I know people keep saying, well what do you want for free? I would at least like a download to work and to be able to register it to see if I like it or not.

Audio only .webm (ogg), it handled, so codecs must be somewhat recent.
The converted "video" did include a "video" portion (of nothing).
Would have expected it to only create the audio stream.
No big deal, & that worked.

Mentioned above, confusing UI, & yes it is.

Happened to click some icon, & it brought up an "effects" screen.
Trim, watermark, crop, effect, 3D.
All typical for these GAOTD video programs.
I didn't bother with any of that.

Bit-rate, there is a "Smart Match" option - though I have no idea what it is or does or just what makes it "smart".

Existing 17 MB flv (h-264, aac), & Leawo is telling me its going to convert (transcode) it into a 56 MB mp4. Now that's not very smart. Smart thing to do would be to losslessly change the container from flv to mp4 (which would happen in an instant, no re-encoding needed).

Anyhow, that too worked.
Way too big (using "smart" settings), but it worked.

Worthwhile, no.
Did it do what was asked, yes.

Seemingly it can do something with CD/DVD (creation).
Untested.

Very simplistic setting choices.
And generally confusing, not well laid out.

Again, typical for any of these GAOTD video programs.
All relatively basic.
Nothing stands out.
Nothing in here would want to make me want to use or keep this program.

Yeah, it'll probably work, but that's the extent of things.

Oh, the screenshot on their website is NOT what the program looks like.

Originally, I used the download link from the email registration, direct from the leawo website for the install.

That, seemingly was version 7.4.2 of the program.

Now, after the fact, I'm trying the GAOTD setup.exe, & that, seemingly, is version 7.3.0.3.

Immediately after 7.3.0.3 install completed, it notified of a "critical patch". I dismissed that dialog. The program opened, I clicked about & found a "check update" button. Clicking that, & it says, "you are using the newest version now!". So much for that "critical patch" I am missing.

HA! The license is only good for 365 days!
Didn't see that gotcha the first go around.

Forget about it!

How do you register it? The web page you go to seems to want you to download it again.

Yes, I clicked on the 'download' link and it let me enter an email for the code.

Confusing.

Had this from an earlier GOTD, and it's always worked just fine. I would make it one of the more recommended giveaways. Tanx GOTD, also tanx for giving something away that's not a phone program!

I take back my earlier comment . Only 10% of the program gets activated, so it's a big waste of HDD space. Uninstalled it completely!

I thought I'd give this a shot. The interface takes a little getting used to, as some of the features are accessed in ways that don't seem logical to me. For example, loading a video (in this case an MP4 file) and clicking "Convert" just converts it to the same parameters. You have to click on the MP4 bar and then set how you want to convert it. I would think that clicking "Convert" would then bring up the parameters menu, which you would then change and click "OK" or something.

I selected an MP4 recording of a standard (720x480) video that I had encoded at 1920x1080. I told it to convert to 720x480 MP4. The result was very good, both audio and video, comparable to the original (though obviously not as large). I then tried an AVI to MP4 conversion, and that also turned out well though the MP4 file turned out larger in terms of file size.

I've used some Leawo programs in the past and have generally gotten good results. I may use this one to down-shift some of those 1920 files that I had incorrectly ripped from 720, and see if I can save some disk space.
