There is some justification for a 1 year license in that they must continually update their program to counteract the DVD publishers' ever changing anti-copy schemes.

Of course how much you're asked to pay each yesr is a different matter.

A 1 year license is no problem to GOTD users as new programs of this type come out every few months (or weeks).

When installing on my Windows 8, I keep getting the install error associated with python.dll:
http://i.imgur.com/dGODmdk.jpg?1

When I ignore it finishes installing but won't run. I have Leawo Blu-ray Creator, Leawo DVD Creator, Leawo iTransfer, Leawo BlueRay Player and Leawo iOS Data Recovery. Could this be conflicting with one of Leawo's other programs that has a shared .dll file???

Hello,

Sometimes python.dll is mis-reported virus by some anti-virus software. Please add python.dll to white list in your anti-virus software. Thanks!

Seems like everyone is comparing this to a DVD ripper. I am looking for a Blu Ray ripper as my current one is now locked from Blu Ray, just like DVDFab stopped Blu Ray. I really want a rip to MP4 or MKV, not a direct copy. I did download the trial from Leawo, but did not realize it was a 1 year. Any other suggestions?

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all. I'm thankful for GAOTD and the software developers who contribute. I'm equally grateful for your comments here -- they continue to educate me.

Contrary to claim, not a very good 1:1 DVD copier.
Tried to copy DVD (Not Blu-ray) of 'West Wing', got 'insufficient disk space' error message when blank DVD was inserted.

My guess is the West Wing DVD is a DVD-9 and the blank one was a DVD-5 so, insufficient disk space would be correct. You'll have to get a blank DVD-9, or dual layer, DVD if you want to be able to do a 1:1 copy.

‘insufficient disk space’
Does your HD has enough free space? The HD, where the temp-folder is located?
The content of the DVD will be stored on a HD and will easily take 5Gb. Or more if it is a DVD9.
Maybe use a cleaner like cCleaner.

When I was programming it was for a very expensive piece of software, in the order of $10,000 for one unit. Updated versions to this continuously developed program cost around 10% of this price annually.

More and more we are seeing developers who seem to think we should pay full price every year for what is basically the same program or ones with minor changes. This wouldn't be so bad if they were not so overpriced in the first place, such as today's, and I will at every opportunity attempt to find a freeware program of the same type.

Happy Thanksgivings Day everyone! And thanks to Leawo for this generous offering on the 1 year license for DVD Copy. When I installed the package I got Blu Ray Copy, but when I signed up for the license and activated it,it showed the DVD Component with 365 days left. I don't think there is very much to say about this software other then the fact it does what it is supposed to do.

Now that I've hand my two cents on this software it's time to start cleaning up the kitchen and getting the turkey ready. Hope you all have a wonderful day today and thanks to GOTD for all you do each day to bring us good stuff.

Good to have when a friend asks you to copy a DVD for them. Beats looking around for a free alternative that's crippleware, crapware, or trialware.
So what if it's a 1 year license - in 4-6 months, GOTD will have another free DVD copier available.

This one can't be recommended, can it?. A leasing model with yearly payment? For a DVD program? I don't even think the modern interface mentioned by Karl is enough to keep most people paying year after year for a type of software with so many free alternatives and pay-once-get-upgrade-for-life offers out there.
Today I was also surprised that Giovanni only presented two links to free alternatives as I was expecting two pages, but he got the most essential one from DVDFab :) (Thanks both of you, your input is highly appreciated as your reviews are always my first read).
Until the licensing model changes for the better, this alternative becomes far too expensive for the common man in the long run when compared to the competition.

I really like Leawo's products and have their DVD Ripper which is a good program, however I think that their prices should be much less, and perhaps do away with the yearly licence. This is to take into account that there are free open source viable alternatives at no cost as mentioned above, and more computer knowledgeable users would know where to find and use these latter programs.
But to Leawo software, keep up the good programs.

Even the Ashampoo Burning Studio does a good job of copying, but mind you it only supports 1:1 disc to disc duplication without quality loss. The rest of this software is really half decent.. AND always has a good discount (probably normal price)

Yes, DVDFab really does a neat copy/archive though pricey on the cost without discount.
You're correct @ Whiterabbit-uk ...Take the yearly subscription cost away, add a ONCE only average market price and more customers would purchase it moreso...

I think the reason for an annual fee is to update the decrypter software. Even the 'gold standard' of DVD copiers, DVDFab, has an annual fee (as well as lifetime packages). The free alternatives sometimes balk at the latest copy-protection.

I don't mind paying a one-off fee for decent software, but paying an annual fee for a DVD copier?????

I can get free open source software that does everything todays software does; or the free version of commercial software for example, Starburn and Burn Aware. I've used both and both do a decent job, although the latter (Burn Aware free) isn't the best looking software w.r.t. the GUI but it does the job easily for both DVD and Blu-Ray copying, plus it's got the added bonus of being totally free forever.

I suggest Leawo get rid of the annual subscription, then they may find more giveaway users purchasing their product.

If you need to backup your DVD's but don't wish the pay some ridiculous price for it the following 11 freeware programs could be just the job.

Installed and registered without problems on a Win 8.1.3 Pro 64 bit system.

A Chinese company, certified 2007 a member of Shenzhen Software Double-Certification Association, with address, phone&fax.

We had had many software titles from this company in 2014, all about video and music.

Note that this a one year license, included is a 30 days trial of the BlueRay Copy.

Upon start a stylish interface opens. I have to admit, that I like these modern interfaces from Leawo. The program calls itself "Blue-ray copy" in the header.

In the settings you define the burn mode (starburn.dll from Rocket Division Software, latest build StarBurn SDK V15.3 'Stingray' - but not mentioned in the "about"!), NTSC or PAL, country code, GPU acceleration and the automatic updates on/off.

You add your disk or an ISO file, and burn.

Hmmmm, this software is the trial version of Leawo Blu-ray Copy, it is named internally Leawo Blu-ray Copy.exe 7.1.0.7, which returns after 30 days to a downgraded DVD copy with a one years license... Think about it, what you want.

Uninstalled via reboot, I don't need this.
