I've used this for about 3 years now and it works as well as I could hope for.

I would like to see a few more servers but for the price it's good value.

Has killswitch and anti leak functionality that can be turned on/off.

The VPN market has exploded recently but this vendor does seem to have a pretty good reputation for service and support.

WHAT kind of BS is this- after installing went to the page for the activation crap.........after maybe 10 or so tried to "create an account" I kept getting

"The entered email address is invalid or can’t be used for registration. Please check the spelling or use another email".

WHY? I've had my primary Email address since 1992 one of the FIRST email accounts available on the net and dozens of registered "programs" registered with my Email...........
SO WHY THE "H" do I have to have some other one to "QUALIFY" for the stupid code?
PHOOEY on......you know who

This wasn't too bad to install in Android. I did the Facebook hoop with an account I stole because the idiot used my email address to sign up so that account has none of my personal information or photos. I ought to be ok. I haven't had any luck with VPNs on Windows so I won't even attempt it. Anytime I use a VPN with Outlook I lose half my email access because the provider thinks I'm in a different country.

Restarted me on shutdown after getting the 'The system service responsible for the IKEv2 start up doesn't respond.' message.
This is NOT acceptable.
(Also I was NOT running any AV and I'm Win7 not 10.) Will try to resolve another time cos I'm busy right now. Or I may just say screw it, cos I don't need any of this hassle thankyouverymuch

It's headquartered in New York, USA, so in a Five Eyes country.

From a TechRadar review: "The Privacy Policy gives a general description of personal data which might be collected when you visit the website or use KeepSolid's apps. These include IP addresses; device name, code, manufacturer and language; time zone, connection time and wifi network name; and the total amount of traffic for each session, along with session dates.

A quick check of our VPN Unlimited web console revealed a little more identifying information. A Devices console didn't just record that we had connected from a Windows 10 system, for instance. It also stored both the computer name and even the name of our Windows user account, perhaps enough to identify an individual.

There's no sign of VPN Unlimited recording your browsing history or maintaining any detailed logs, but we're not clear on exactly what it is collecting, and that's not good enough."

Wow, I got here with only 20 some minutes remaining on the clock, & been scanning through the comments while it's downloading. Seems like a lot of problems, & me with so little time! I think I'll just stick with Epic Privacy Browser. It's got issues, & I don't think the creator knows how to fix them--haven't heard back in at least 2 weeks since they replied that they were looking into the problems--but at least it gets me through Xi's cult of Mao terrorist regime's firewall.

grandude, your free browser only does so much. When you run an app or program outside of the browser, you are not protected. With these types of VPN's, everything is protected outgoing on that connection, not just your browser.

KeepSolid,

Following the "Publisher" link (above, blue box): "VPN Unlimited 3.3 (Win&Mac) was available as a giveaway on August 24, 2016" .

Last time this was offered you stated that you had "300+ servers in over 50 regions all over the world"; however, several of the GOTD users who commented on the performance/speed of connections (vs the many who complained about the initially-limited number of activation codes) stated that they experienced slow browsing, downloading, etc.

(Admittedly, routing browsing or other requests through any intermediary anonymizing service will slow down connections. The amount of slowdown is only a question of acceptability.)

In the 3 years that have elapsed since then, has the number of servers increased; i.e., have the factors (whatever they may be, if not the number of servers) affecting the situation improved?

Thanks for returning with your offer!

Reply   |   Comment by HMarx  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

HMarx, now VPN Unlimited has over 400+ high-speed servers across 70+ locations all over the world. The latest server list is available right in the application.

We provide the maximum possible connection speed for the current conditions.

However, the conditions for your connection may vary because of the current workload on the selected VPN server and the distance from you to the selected VPN server.

Reply   |   Comment by Dave  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-8)

Dave, once you establish a VPN connection, all traffic on your device will be encrypted and protected, so no one will have any information about your online activities.
You are welcome to test our service for free, to see if it satisfies your needs.

Reply   |   Comment by KeepSolid Support Team  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-3)

Dave,

If it helps, as KeepSolid Support posted, outbound & inbound traffic are protected with a VPN, so any data captured would be useless. To stop unauthorized Wi-Fi access in the 1st place, probably the best you can do is follow the recommendations you find online [Google], e.g. use WPA2 Ent. or WPA3, don't broadcast the SSID if your devices don't require it, and *maybe* look at actually shaping your Wi-Fi coverage, perhaps with a homemade parabolic antenna add-on, so signal strength is minimal or nonexistent outside your home.

I have to say no one is completely safe regardless of what security they have on and yes no one is completely invisible with vpn's , every time you enter the web and start searching someone or some company is watching you.

Remember there are more advance programme' s out there than the ones you get here.

Reply   |   Comment by taylor  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+6)

taylor,

If someone(s) is physically spying on you, & there are are all sorts of ways of doing that, you're correct. There are some more secure Linux distros if anyone's concerned about Windows itself. There are tools & methods to prevent identifying you from your typing patterns. Most tracking methods can be blocked by web browsers nowadays. And if you're using a VPN, & optionally something like the TOR browser, if you do so during peak usage, it makes identifying your traffic by comparing traffic from your IP with that out of the VPN or TOR server difficult.

Epic Privacy Browser also is free and comes with a VPN. Even if you use a VPN, and a browser with a VPN please don't think that you're "invisible." I know from what I peak. It all depends on what you want to do. But if you assume that you're 100 % invisible and are going to download movies, you will find otherwise. Music ? You'll probably be okay with, movies....forget it. You're writing yourself a one way ticket to another Internet Service Provider. When I say proceed with caution, I mean every ounce of caution that you have. I'm going to give VPN Unlimited a try. The film industry has NEVER been so dedicated to turning you in to your ISP. Remember that. The RIAA ? They've given up catching people.

Reply   |   Comment by Scott  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-4)

Scott, you are talking about "just a browser." If you run an external program it will do nothing for it. These paid VPN's encompass the entire connection on the device. Not only that, but how does EPB work on mobile devices or Smart TV's?

Reply   |   Comment by Andy  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

.
[ Scott ],

It's not the IP intellectual property industry.

It's ambulance chasers, independent people who create "honey pots" by sharing big industry IP intellectual property that they do not own, then they monitor who re-shares it, then they try to sell that information to IP intellectual property owners.

In other words, they break copyright law in order to sell their services to copyright owners.

VPN is nice for downloading, but for resharing, we need a P2P proxy.

Note, during download, torrent software immediately starts to re-share each part of a torrent that we are downloading, and that's where the ambulance chasers see their shares being re-shared.

Simply stop the torrent software from re-sharing ( or tune a firewall to block outgoing ), or better yet, get a P2P proxy.

I pay for Netflix and cable.

But they often are unable to deliver the IP intellectual property services I have already paid them for.

Such as cable moving showtimes, starting late, cutting off early, interrupting with over-announcements, and so on, making DVR digital video recording that I pay them extra for useless.

And Netflix sending out DVDs that do not play ( Sony disks in a Sony player, for example! )

So I've already paid for the IP intellectual property that I am holding in my hand that does not play, or I'm struck trying to piece together from separate recording pieces on my DVR to assemble th emovie I want to watch.

What do I do?

Instead, I download it immediately, and start watching it immediately, via torrent.

Someday, Netflix and cable will develop their own torrents and get reliable.

Until then, get a P2P proxy.
.

Peter Blaise,

"Such as cable moving showtimes, starting late, cutting off early, interrupting with over-announcements, and so on, making DVR digital video recording that I pay them extra for useless."

NOT saying you're wrong, but rather that's the fault of your service provider, not the way all cable companies work.

"Netflix sending out DVDs that do not play"

That I've never experienced, though once it became available, we switched to Blu-ray. Blu-ray is a different thing entirely, and there the much higher level of DRM does make glitch-free playback a bit rare, regardless the player used. MakeMKV or Passkey are potential solutions, which let you enjoy the hi bit rate video you paid for.

At any rate, the point I would make is that in our case at least, while you're correct I think when it comes to P2P, it really isn't needed for video -- unless you can't wait for release dates. ;)

Reply   |   Comment by mike  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

[ mike ],

P2P is just a way to immediately get the IP intellectual property content that we already paid for but is not been successfully delivered or made available by the IP owner's preferred and authorized channels.

It's not a case of "... can't wait for release dates ...".

It's a case of already paying for and having the disc or DVR in hand, and it not working ... and yet, P2P has the content available immediately ... content that we have already paid for.

We ain't stealing.

We're just trying to get what we already paid for.

I will add that if an IP owner sets up a honey pot, then they themselves are freely offering their own IP to all comers - like putting a wallet on the sidewalk, it ain't stealing to pick it up and walk away.

It's the torrent software default to immediately re-share that might violate some copyright, not the downloading itself.

Just saying.

Thanks for exploring this.

SLOW browning...couldn't connect torrents ( tried 4 different torrent servers ) fastest thing about this vpn is how i uninstalled it

Reply   |   Comment by txtim  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

txtim, We provide the maximum possible connection speed for the current conditions.

However, the conditions for your connection may vary because of the current workload on the selected VPN server and the distance from you to the selected VPN server.

Also, there is always a chance of slowdown because of your ISP throttling VPN protocols.

We cannot control these circumstances.

So, as a suggestion, try to connect to a few servers that are geographically closer to you with the lowest workload, and check the performance.

Also, if you've enabled KeepSolid Wise, it might decrease the speed. Please, try to switch to a different VPN protocol in the Settings -> Protocols of the app, and check the performance again.

Bill Thomson, as we can see, you've already applied the code to an account associated with thomsonwilliam39@********.com
Also, we've noticed that you're running a very old version of the app. Please, try to install the newest version, and check the performance.

Ass,

First of all, please, add VPN Unlimited and TAP-Windows adapter to "trusted apps/exceptions" of your Antivirus/Firewall to make sure that our service is not blocked by your security software.

If the same issue will occur — please, try to do the following:

1. Run VPN Unlimited app and log in.

2. Click on the Menu icon in the top left corner -> Settings -> Protocols -> Select KeepSolid Wise option (TCP or UDP).

3. Try to connect to different servers.

If the previous instruction does not help, please follow these steps:

1. Go to Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> Network Adapters -> choose TAP-Windows adapter -> disable it, then enable again.

2. Open VPN Unlimited app and try to connect to different servers.

Should the issue persist - be sure to reach us via support@keepsolid.com and we will provide additional assistance.

Opera web browser comes with built in VPN. How does this program differ from Opera?

Reply   |   Comment by Umesh  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

VPN Unlimited has over 400+ high-speed servers across 70+ locations all over the world.
Also, the connection speed should be way faster (though, that depends on your ISP).
You are welcome to test our service to see if it satisfies your needs.

Umesh, I wouldn't rely upon the Opera VPN, it only protects data passing through Opera, not from all apps and browsers.

If you use something like DNSLeakTest with Opera's VPN you'll find a whole long list of IPs come up, mostly Cloudfare and Google in my experience, neither of which would I trust to protect my identity if the authorities demanded it.

Compare that to a good quality paid for VPN, such as the NordVPN I use, and the list comprises solely of their IPs, and they have a no logging policy and are based in a country which doesn't require companies to hand over details anyway.

I can't comment on the quality or privacy of today's offering here, I've no experience of them, but I would recommend not putting too much faith in the Opera VPN unless you're using it only to protect yourself when banking etc using public wifi hotspots and the like.

Umesh, this VPN app is designed to make your entire connection 'private', not just your browser. This is especially useful when using apps on your mobile device, or even a program outside of your browser on a PC/Mac.

Reply   |   Comment by Andy  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

Umesh, the so-called VPN that comes with the Opera browser is not a real VPN, but a proxy. If you really want to go for privacy, you still need an external VPN service.

I can't utilize the Kill Switch in this VPN. It says that Windows Firewall must be turned on when it clearly is.

Any solutions?

Rob Rosenblatt, You may be using an anti-virus program that disables Windows Firewall. Norton does this. This may be the reason why

Another 6 month only then they try constantly to get you to cough up to keep it running! Why not a year which would make more sense to me?

Paul65, because this is how they make their living. They don't pay their bills by giving away their software, which costed them money an time to create, for free. That doesn't pay the bills. The are giving us an opportunity to try their application for free hoping we will like it well enough to purchase it so that they can earn a living and also perhaps enhance the product further in the future.

I grow weary of people who complain about the soup at the soup kitchen.

Nebulous, That's a good point. If the software actually does what it claims it can do, best not to "look a gift horse in the mouth"

TK, Interesting points. I can see your motivations and your style of friendship with othrs. Personally, I recommend products I like to my friends without compensation, and I buy products I like because I like them and because I feel the value they offer is worth the price I pay. If the product vendor gives me a temporary glimpse into the product through free use before I buy it, all the better!

That said, I have actually purchased 100% functional, no time ticker, freebies from GAOTD vendors over the years because they were so good I fel the developer deserved monetary reward. Others I have continue to use for free because I thought they were decent but not something I'd buy if it weren't free.

Cheers

dadams, not really, it just means you don't have a data cap each month as many VPNs impose. Windscribe for example, which is a pretty decent VPN, offer a free service but it limits you to just 10GB a month, which may be plenty depending on your usage requirements.
