[ Wise Disk Cleaner and Glary utilities ],

KCleaner finds things the others you mention do not, AND the pro version can clean automatically in the background.

I had an earlier Pro portable version. When I opened it it told me the license was invalid. I can try this again but I want to know if Relevant Knowledge is still included with this publisher's programs.

I am not siding with any program or company only wish to provide facts for all. I have used CCleaner and it is a well established standard. No one mentioned the 2.2+ Billion people affected by the malicious payload included in CCleaner. Parent company (Avast) server was hacked a while back and had a payload injected in the official release build. I had to format my hdd to clear it. Another fact, CCleaner does collect data, going to Options > Privacy you can uncheck Allow usage data to be shared with 3rd parties for analytical purposes. Whether it truly disables it is anyone's guess. Is there room for a competitor? Absolutely, today's standard replaced by a newcomer means competition works. The problem is trust. Just about every piece of software installed or website visited collects personal data. Worse every year. GPDR calls attention to an old issue, however is it progress or is it lowering people's guard. I see a lot of good discussion here. The people bring up concern and the "dev" reacting to it, this is healthy. What we need from companies is reassurance of the concerns and a program to verify that validity. Is there any inbound/outbound traffic occurring on my pc in regards to "secret analytics".

Been using free CCleaner for over a decade now. Why would I buy or install something, KCleaner, that does kind of the same thing by stealing CCleaner's ideas and the name (CCleaner-KCleaner)? I wouldn't give this company the time of day. If I'm going to buy a program like this let it be the original CCleaner Pro edition. In America, KCleaner would be sued for stealing the name and similar features of CCleaner which has been around a lot longer. But since programs come from different countries, they get away with stealing. That's all KCleaner represents to me....Theft!!

Robert, since Piriform (developer of Ccleaner) was purchased by Avast Software, it's known to have spyware/security issues. I've removed it from all of my machines after using it for YEARS. BleachBit and others that are known to still be "clean" are free, but why not try this freebie out? Just sayin'.....

ROTF LMAO at [ Robert ], wanna-be trademark attorney / ambulance chaser with zero references and zero clients.

French KCSoftwares and KCleaner have been around since EARLY 2000s.

English Piriform registered CCleaner trademark in the LATE 2000s in territorial US.

Being descriptive, Piriform has no exclusive use of any [ ?cleaner ] pattern.

Any user of both products can testify to them being completely different in every presentation, process. and productive result.

frank,
To sue Robert, KCleaner would have to make all their code public to make their case. Considering the similarities between CCleaner and KCleaner (including the name), ANY lines of code that were identical would cause them to lose their case AND CCleaner would then have an iron clad case against KCleaner that KCleaner proved for them. Do you think they want to risk all that for Robert's comment? I think not!

Reply   |   Comment by Susan  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+5)

Robert, keep using CCleaner then I have both Kcleaner cleared 376.37 meg more than ccleaner did with the same settings

But go ahead set yourself up with a possible slander suite (also in America against your laws) Have a great day ;)

[ Susan ],

No, to sue over trademark does not require releasing code, just like Coke can sue someone for using the trademark "Coke" without permission, but does not have to divulge the formula for Coke.

You're thinking design patent or copyright, totally different issues, and KCleaner and CCleaner are nothing alike anyway ... and neither has any patent or copyright registrations to sue over.

WELL that's a PLUS........I used CC for years and THEN some updates changed it all and every time I use it, it DELETES or ELIMINATES some of my Camera, Scanner, and HP printer Programs AND ALL MY SITE SAVED PASSWORDS, some of which I DON'T know anymore.
Then it's ""install or register" them again....couple hours down the drain.....
I've clicked every box at some point to make it quit........that don't work either.
Maybe I'll see if I can install this and give it a try.........

[ Bazzr ] is afraid it might wipe a hard drive.

I know that it did wipe one of mine.

An earlier version cleaned my entire drive of all files not in use, including my documents and Windows stuff,

... but that was only once,

... and I should have noticed it was about to clean 100 GB of content, and not clicked [ Clean ], but instead exited and rebooted,

... this has not happened in recent versions,

... but ALWAYS select [ Simulate ] first, and inspect the results, before selecting [ Clean ].

I am not at all interested in this program as far as I am concerned it is useless. It in my estimation is neither safe to use or have. I do not see any point to it, it will never be much good for anything and does nothing as far as I can tell, certainly no where as good as Ccleaner or some others that do what they say they do. This was a waste of time in my estimation, and by the way, AOMEI Backerupper Pro is excellent, I have used it for years, never had a problem with it and it has saved me several times. So no reason to knock it, but I get your point. This place has gotten to one sided and the comments are about as worth as much as our Money in the USA, nothing. I would not bother with this junk if I were you. I am a computer tech at the age of 72 and I know low class software when I use it and I know good software when I use it, but I also feel, there is always hope for improvement.

glnman, My good heavens, what next, thanks for the info, is there no privacy left in this world, I doubt it, not with the way the Government is going, I do not trust them or many software makers, So now, I thank you and I shall now get rid of Ccleaner. Your quite right, it is none of their business about your data, life, or information personally about you. Who do they think they are, "Facebook" who is under investigation I might add for using personal information of the people who is it and then they lie to you and say they do not. Go over to https://www.eff.org/ and read all about it, Electronic Foundation Order, they exist for our rights and privacy. Again, thank you.

mjjohnah, Hi good point, but I still took it out, often times I find out, even though they say you can turn it off, it does nothing at all and still sends info back. So I removed it anyway. It is getting to the point it is not worth having a computer, cell phone among other things, so much for the USA Constitution for freedom and privacy that Trump has totally destroyed sorry did not mean to become political but that is about what it comes down too. I think I will move to Mexico, that should upset him.. :)

Reply   |   Comment by dadams  –  5 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

Mardel, Is KCleaner a worthy alternative to CCleaner?

The biggest downfall to KCleaner is that its filled with bloat ware that can cause troubles during install. While KCleaner and the folks behind it use this as a way to provide freeware, it can be a nightmare to uninstall. KCleaner offers what CCleaner does, in a less visual format. For some users, CCleaner’s easier to use format could be what draws them to it rather KCleaner. It’s up to you which title would be better for your PC. KCleaner is just one alternative that lives up to the hype when compared to CCleaner.

- KCleaner still creates a folder in C:\Users\MyUser\AppData\Roaming\KC Softwares\KCleaner.

Hi mjjohnah. :-)

I'm using their programs without problems since years and I'm a (volunteer and not paid) moderator on their forum.
I'm trying to bring to their attention all bugs in their programs and hopefully they're always better.
Like you saw, I'm constantly doing comparisons with other software.
Anyway, every software could have bugs and problems, even the ones developed by microsoft, therefore doing a "full system image" AND a "complete backup of important files" is always recommended before trying "disk cleaners" or "registry cleaners" or "windows tweakers" and so forth...
