This is version 2.5.1 (6/23/16) we had this program back in Feb. 2015 and THAT also was version 2.5.1
Is this the SAME version? What is different and new in this version?

If you didn't get it last time, be sure to get it today. It's very nice.

Thanks GOTD and to G.F. I had the previous version and loved it. Now I'm on Windows 10 I needed to hope this would come around again. I'll try the guitar free software too as I play both instuments.

Hi everybody. :-)

To all the users having problems with download or with installation: a lot of users have reported their antivirus is blocking gaotd setup.exe and/or setup.gcd.

For sure, users have reported till now:
- avast
- avg
- Kaspersky
- Norton

Possible solutions:
1) put the setup.exe in the whitelist of your antivirus
2) disable the real-time - on-access scanning, just the time to install the software
3) boot windows in safe mode with networking, just the time to install the software

Hope this helps.

Delightful program that I used a long time ago in a previous version; now it's even better! Installed without any problems on my WIn7 x64 machine. In the "About" tab, it shows it is completely registered with GAOTD. Thanks so much, GAOTD and G.F. Software!

No go with Windows 10 x64. Tried with and without the antivirus turned on/off. This software stalls, then Win 10 reports it has died. Better luck next time. Thanks for all your hard work and generosity, GOTD!

Jackie, I finished its installation on my Windows 10 laptop w/out a single problem, but I've had my anti-virus turned off during that time.

Loooong time gaotd user -- click setup.exe and get nothing. File not blocked, disabled avg, all the right things.

beans,
Make sure setup.exe and *.gcd file reside in the same folder before executing/launching setup.exe. If this isn't your problem then temporarily disable anti virus software, redownload this offer and then try to install again.

Excellent multi-track music making software. Versatile and simple to use. One question: can you use a midi keyboard to play it?

Reply   |   Comment by Wyndham Wales  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+8)

Wyndham Wales, No, your keyboard is your "midi" with this program. Perhaps, you can find something usefull here : http://www.freewarefiles.com/category_6_70.html

My choise is Cubase, but that's a much more advanced and expensive program. However, thanks for the offer to, G.F Software, and the team behind GAOTD.

Wyndham Wales, You can enable your Midi keyboard using the Options menu. However the sustain pedal will not work (design issues :( )

Failed to install on my Windows 7, but still said it activated successfully.

Reply   |   Comment by Bungo  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-2)

Bungo, I have a spare computer that will not install ANYTHING from GOTD. It says it activated successfully but there is no trace of it on the computer. I even tried to install as Administrator and that did not work either. I have no trouble installing GOTD software on my main computer and am mystified why I am unable to install on my other computer.

Reply   |   Comment by seagrape  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-2)

Bungo, I tried again but disabled my anti-virus (AVG Free) and was able to install it. Yay!! Try disabling your AVG and see if that will work for you.

Had no problem installing on Windows 7 Pro. Did what the readme text said to do and installed without a hitch Not sure how beneficial it is? I'll look at it more as a play toy. I'm sure watching the tutorial videos will help. After that, who knows. I may like it! Thanks to GOTD and KB Piano (G. F. Software)

Download and tried to install. Got "Failed to launch the program".
That program doesn't want to install. I have a PC Win 10, latest version.
The same program was given in Feb 2015. It did install then on Win 8.1, but not today on Win 10.

Failed to install. I downloaded, extracted to new folder, clicked on setup.exe, and was informed that KB Piano was activated, but there is no trace of a new exe file on my computer. Running Win 10, if that matters. Disappointing - it sounded interesting.

Reply   |   Comment by milt boyd  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+1)

milt boyd, That same thing has happened to me, too, but only on one particular computer I have. I have, at times, tried to install GOTD software on that computer only to have the installation process go straight to the "actiavated" window and there is no trace of the program anywhere on that computer. This has happened only on my spare computer, not the one I use every day. I have no idea what the problem is and neither does my computer savvy son.

Deactivating your antivirus while installing usually does the trick.

Don't know if it's just me and I haven't figured it out yet but how do I play on more than 2 octaves at a time? If I want go go from middle C down to the G below middle C it doesn't play. Seems very limited to me.

Thought I'd better update on my earlier post. GOTD uses IE settings; I am using Win8.1. My default browser (Chrome) is working ok, but IE wouldn't access the net. Appears that problem was in proxy settings. To disable proxy go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections tab > LAN Settings, and uncheck all boxes (proxy and auto detect).

How run KB Piano on Mac?

Reply   |   Comment by Gerard  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-19)

Gerard, Open an eBay account. Sell your Mac on eBay. Get a windows compatible computer, hopefully one that has windows on it already. Then Profit! Err..., something. Though, seriously, if you don't know how to figure it out yourself; You probably don't want to take the time and effort it would require to figure out how to run a windows program on a Mac. I've been out of the Mac loop for a while, but there used to be Boot Camp, and Parallels for Mac. Both of which required you to own a valid copy of Windows. At which point, it would be cheaper to find a different program that works natively with your Mac computer.

Reply   |   Comment by Freeman  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+7)

Gerard, Every Macintosh computer comes with an Apple program already installed (at least I think they do), called "Bootcamp". Using Bootcamp you can "partition" your hard drive into 2 completely separate areas, one which will be dedicated to normal usage for your Mac operating system and programs as you always have, and one for a Windows area.

Then you must BUY and install a copy of a current version of Windows in the second partition.
All Windows programs you want to run will be downloaded and installed in the second partition as well.

When you start your Mac, it will ask you if you want to run it as a Mac or as a Windows PC. Choosing one or the other will allow you to run it exclusively as that type of computer. Once you've started it as a Windows PC you'll be running the version of Windows you bought, and can run the Keyboard program from today.

Installed and runs ok on Windows 8.1
Have had a bit of a play with it and it seems like a very extensive program.
But -
the keyboard window is much too small, some of the things written on the keys barely fit and it makes it hard to read.
the piano keyboard which you can use is also much too small
if you could click on the piano keyboard with the mouse to play the notes that would be a very nice feature
So, a good program but could be much better

JS,
This problem is quite common and it has been around for awhile. I'm not sure why GOTD does not take steps to correct it.

PUA/InstallCore.Gen7
This class of detection flags, Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUA), may compromise the user's privacy and the security of the local system. These are legitimate applications that often try to use social engineering to make the user install additional offers during the installation of the software the user originally wanted. A PUA application classification is the result of software, an advert, or a website exhibiting one or more offending behaviors and/or properties.
This detection doesn't mean that the file is malicious. However, if the file was installed on the system without the user's knowledge, the user's privacy or system security might be compromised. Disabling this detection is only recommended for advanced users who understand the risks and how to use these applications.
