Hmm... the GUI looks very similar to the Tuneskit Screen Recorder that was given away here a few weeks ago. Is Joyoshare a rip-off of Tuneskit?

M. H.,

Downloaded & installed the trial of the Tuneskit app in the same win7 32-bit VM. Most [99%+] of the files are identical, with the Tuneskit version having one or 2 more, and of course the main .exe file is different, with different digital signatures.

My understanding is that this is not necessarily a negative thing in China, as product [including software] design is treated as if it was open source.

Windows 10, hex-core Xeon, 28GB Ram, SSD, GeForce 670.

Downloaded and installed with no fuss. I much prefer the straighforward licensing to the GCD wrapper which often fails to install. Controls are easy to find, power users may find it a bit simplistic but there are more than enough options for everyday users. Did a test record on a Clash of Clans attack replay and recorded well in MP4, 1m 20s came to a 187Mb file size. Video is clear and doesn't suffer from pixellation or smearing. The downside is that I could only record from screen one, I couldn't move the window to different screens in a multiscreen setup. This shouldn't be a problem, it just means I have to record from screen one, the option to record from different screens would be a useful addition in future releases though (if I've missed a setting somewhere please let me know).
I did have ZDSoft Screen Recorder in a previous giveaway but a hard drive failure paid put to that so I've been looking for a replacement and this does everything I need for now so definitely happy to have it for free.

Joyoshare Screen Recorder is a bit rudimentary, but it works, and it does capture audio if you’ve got one of those laptops or PCs that won’t let you record what you hear from the speakers or headphones. On the downside, you really don’t have any control over that audio, e.g. you can’t set the sample rate like you could using a sound card or on-board audio chipset. A big technical challenge with screen recording is getting all the data that’s captured written to storage in real time. That’s why there’s game capture hardware – it’s designed to efficiently handle encoding rather than relying on the CPU, giving you a compressed data stream small enough that can be written to disk. You might be able to use the graphics processor instead, e.g. AMD’s ReLive or Nvidia’s ShadowPlay, or just rely on the recording software being optimized, e.g. using Windows 10’s Xbox Gamebar. Screen recording software can perform more efficiently if they use a video codec designed for fast capture – unfortunately Joyoshare Screen Recorder uses ffmpeg, which is not.

Besides the program’s folder [214 Files, 16 folders, ~58 MB] folders are added to My Documents & Users\ [UserName]\ AppData\ Local. The registry just gets a new Joyoshare & an uninstall key.

Note: Why do you see more RE: “Game” capture than “Screen” capture? Part of it is the popularity of game streaming, but a big part is DRM. You can record something like a tutorial using game capture hardware or Windows 10’s built-in capture same as you can a game, but they don’t want you recording video playing back at HD rez. That’s a slot that Joyoshare Screen Recorder could fit into, if only it was a bit faster, using something besides ffmpeg.

I wanted to try the Joyoshare Recorder, but instead of being free (no money), but un untested recommendation seems to be required now, vis-a-vis "Share and download!". I cannot understand this new cost (untested recommendation on my Facebook page). If I were to try the product and like it, I'd gladly offer my opinion after trying it.

Bob EARLY, If you took a second to read further down. You can also get an email link (without sharing) You can even use a temporary email address to get it. Easy Peasy

Reply   |   Comment by R Singh  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+13)

Bob EARLY, by sharing you give your friends the opportunity to see for themselves whether they like it rather than arrogantly assuming anything you don't want no one else will, and you also help to spread the word about the site that you are getting the free software from and give them a leg up in return. If sharing a link on Facebook is too much of a human 'cost' to you, you may want to re-evaluate your value system.

Chris, Thank you for your comment. Perhaps you can offer a bit more help. I did manage to open the program, but the icon sort of disappeared. When attempting a second opening of the app, I get an error message saying that another copy is already running. Unfortunately, I cannot find it. I woujd assume there must be some sort of "shortcut" to locate the running copy?
BTW, disention in help files and requests do not accomplish much, and please do not insinuate my stupidity again. I have a problem with this program, perhaps of my own doing, but if left unsolved would insinuate a poorly written "How to Use this Prpogram" type of help file.

I tried it here and it worked well grabbing a youtube screen and then playing it in its own player. It either will not save to an MP4 on disc for viewing in other players or the way to accomplish a save to disc eluded me. The quality of the capture was as good as I could hope for. If this could save to a standalone MP4, it'd be worth the cost, but as things stand, I can't use it.

paul,

"It either will not save to an MP4 on disc for viewing in other players or the way to accomplish a save to disc eluded me."

Testing in a win7 32-bit VM, I opened a web page in Internet Explorer that had a YouTube video, played a few seconds worth [to make sure the audio registered, which may have not been needed], opened up Joyoshare Screen Recorder, adjusted the capture border to fit the video, clicked record, & started the video. Right clicked the icon in the notification area of the taskbar, clicked stop, and a window popped up to show the video file in Documents\ Joyoshare Screen Recorder\ Converted\. Closed that window, and when the app's GUI popped up, closed the app. Copied the video file to the host copy of Windows, where it played in VLC just fine.

What format did you screen record in? Did you try other formats?

Reply   |   Comment by Dusty  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Dusty, When I record videos on desktop, I used MP4; and when I want to capture audio, I used MP3 format. I also tried M4V for videos, but haven't tried all of them.

Jane, It's easy to write a nine-word shill....

It takes only a bit more effort to qualify what you are maintaining.

I know it is Christmas, but some people are reading....

Jane, it says lostless recording. My experience with recording that makes a very big boast as with other software i tried is clearly compramized. Your opinion is it lostless recording quality?

Reply   |   Comment by Dusty  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-9)

Dusty, huuummmmm i just wanted a free opinion thats honest

Reply   |   Comment by Dusty  –  4 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (-5)

Dusty,

" it says lostless recording"

Maybe if the video frame is not FHD, & if you have the latest top-of-the-line Intel CPU, and are recording to one of the fastest NVMe drives, you can accomplish lossless video screen recording at 30 fps, but probably not using today's GOTD. True lossless video doesn't use video compression, so the sheer amount of data can easily overwhelm even high end PCs.

Dusty,

If you have Internet access, you have the definition of just about any word you can think of, in a matter of seconds. Just type the word into a search engine and hit Enter.

Shill, also called a plant or a stooge, is a person who publicly helps or gives credibility to a person or organization without disclosing that they have a close relationship with the person or organization. Wikipedia

Nathan, Rather than putting up a lazy shill, it would be better to put some REASONS why you feel this way.

Otherwise it will stay what it looks like -- a cheap shil....
