I thought I had found a free way to recover my deleted text messages on my iPhone when I discovered this giveaway. However, after I downloaded and installed it. I encountered the invalid registration code problem. After all those %^$& frustrating attempts, I successfully registered it but found it cannot directly recover data my iPhone if there is no iTunes backup.

Then I searched via google, and finally found these programs that claims to recover data directly from iPhone:
http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/Recover_data_from_an_iPhone (Free, Jailbreak needed)
http://www.aolor.com/iphone-data-recovery/ (Paid)
http://www.leawo.com/ios-data-recovery/ (Paid)
http://www.fireebok.com/fone-rescue.html (Paid)
http://www.wondershare.com/data-recovery/iphone-data-recovery.html (Paid)

Have you guys used any of these? If you have any experience, just let me know, so that I can decide which one to buy. My iPhone has not been jailbroken.

Hello, Richard,

Could you mind following the guide below to register the program again.
1- Download the software from GAOTD, not from our official website.
2- In the top right hand side corner of the opened software window, click on the (downward) arrow to drop the menu

(help, register, buy now, about),
3-Click on register
4-Put "licensed" e-mail(iTunesDataRecoveryGoTD@Tenorshare.com) into the top little frame/window. Please do not put your own email to it.
5-Put your registration code (The code you received in email) into the lower little frame/window.
6-Click “Register” button to finish registration.

Sincerely,
Defina

Installed fine on Windows 7, SP1, but was difficult to register. After several failures, I tried to register at the web site but received an error message that I had already registered and they would resend the code. I did a total reinstall and used the code they sent and all is working. The registration process is a bit convoluted, sending me a new "licensed email address" rather than my email address. It looks like it would be useful to extract data from the backup on my PC. For a complete backup, icloud seems to work best.

I think I have solved the invalid registration problem.

Do NOT put your own email address in, but use iTunesDataRecoveryGoTD@Tenorshare.com instead. Worked first time I tried it.

Installed normal, Registered OK but instructions very vague and could have been set up easier. I picked an iphone backup stored in itunes and the software broke out the information categories. I selected a category and all the info at the time the backup was taken was displayed. Text messages, contacts, photos, etc all displayed easily so the information could be recovered for individual items easily without restoring the backup and losing current items. Backups must be already taken, data that was never backed up can't be recovered like you can do with a unformat program on a disk.

@4 Please clarify My understanding of this offering is that it restores from iTunes backups
Does it have some "recovery" or even backup capacity separate from using an already created iTunes backup? thanks

I downloaded but passed on the install when I saw you had to visit a website and provide your email to get the registration code (I have an iPod Touch and a dumbphone, and because this isn't a program I see myself using, I'm not jumping through that hoop today).

That said, I can see this being useful. While iTunes backs data up, it also stores it in a manner that renders it completely useless, unless you're restoring to another iDevice. If this program can pull specific data from those backups, and export it into something you can actually read (which is what I'm getting from the description), those with an iDevice -and no other backup options- might be wise to grab it.

Nobody plans on losing/damaging/destroying their phones, but accidents happen - and when you lose it ALL, it sucks. But sometimes, it's not even that drastic. I accidentally deleted some of my notes once, and it was either live without them or roll back to my previous backup, and lose a lot of other stuff (or backup, then restore to the backup before that, email the contents of my notes to myself, restore to the backup I'd just done, open my email and copy and paste the notes back in. Huge pain in the .... yeah. Being able to run a program to pull that data out of the backup would have been nice!)

I can not activate, I paste in the registration code and there are no extra spaces before or after it.
I can not send email to address included on the registration page.
I have done all things mentioned on technical support page.
Why did I download this again?

I rate this product a "F" and not ready for prime time.

"... even when your devices got damaged, smashed, broken or stolen."

How in the world can you recover ANYthing from your device if it has been stolen? This app must come with its own police detective. :-)

Tried all of the suggestions above to activate it; no luck (except #20) Given that WOT has their site popping up as unsafe, and I've already spent enough time on this, I am NOT willing to turn my security off for this thing! Uninstall

100% unuseful and restricted to users of Apple products.
I hope GAoTD will do the same in the future: products just to Android and WindowsPhone users.
But Apple and users do not say Apple products never have problems?
A software to recover data to Apple products and "even when your devices got damaged, smashed, broken ...".
Oh my god, Apple devices damaged, broken? How is it possible?
In the future why not try a WindowsPhone, specially from Nokia.
A lot less problems.

From the vendor's own description, this is NOT a data recovery software.

You must have had already backed up your iDevice's data to your PC.

Then when your iDevice got damaged or the data in it is somehow lost, you use this software to Restore or Copy what is already in your PC, to your iDevice.

It does NOT "recover" any thing.

I have tried to register the software a number of time by copying and pasting the email and registration code a number of times but keep getting an error message saying one or the other is invalid. I even tried removing the hyphens in the code but it didn't work.

Well, saying that with human language this program lets me extract to PC some minimal data from backup file which I must create myself with free iTunes on PC a second before I smashed my iPad to the floor.
Many thanks but I can extract it myself with free iTunes 5 minutes before I decided to smash.
Nothing of real recovery of really lost data.

Well, despite its ridiculous current low rating this GAOTD is an excellent and very handy tool, as long as you own an Apple device of course!!

So it's clearly addressed to a narrow market niche (Apple devices' owners), but giving it a THUMBS DOWN simply because you don't have an iPhone, Ipad or Ipod is absolutely LUDICROUS.

BEST (and maybe even BETTER) FREE ALTERNATIVE

And to recover photos, videos, files and even emails and archives from your ANDROID Phone/Tablet and SD Card:
