There was a freeware program I liked and used for years
https://www.askvg.com/iso-toolkit-freeware-to-create-convert-copy-and-extract-iso-image-files/
which may have been portable (not sure), that could mount ISOs and manipulate them in various ways. Development on it appeared to have ceased towards the later years of Win-7, but links for supposedly more recent versions could still be found online. I don't know if it ever qualified as a full-fledged ISO editor, which is what FeMaster seems to be seeking. There are paid programs like PowerISO which probably fulfill that category. I do like ImgBurn also, which has some ISO capabilities, and the Digiarty / Win-X DVD Copy that is offered here from time to time can store a DVD as ISO (single file archive) format.

Got all excited with this, only to be let down. I was hoping that something with "Workshop" in the title might actually be able to "work" with ISO files. This does not "work" with ISO files at all. Sure it can convert, burn, extract, and browse, but there are hundreds of others out there that can do the same. I need something that can literally WORK with (manipulate) an ISO file. Without that ability this software isn't a "workshop" at all, but simply uses the term as a façade...

Does anybody know of a piece of software (preferably free) that can actually manipulate ISO files? I'm looking to be able to add and remove files from an ISO without doing all the manual labor of having to extract it somewhere, then make edits, and then completely recreate the ISO from scratch every time something needs to be changed within it.

Thanks!

FeMaster, others have mentioned AnyBurn, it will do this (https://anyburn.com/tutorials/edit-iso-file.htm) and a lot more...

Min, Thanks for the info and link. I don't believe the other posts mentioning it were up when I read through the comments. Perhaps they were not approved by the mods at that point, or maybe I was just completely blind...

Poorly presented and poor help files. But I do not understand why they feel the need to say it's normally $29'95 when their own web site says it's free software. Removed.

Googling for Iso Workshop Pro 10.7, I find sites where the program (32-bit and 64-bit) is freeware, others where only 32-bit version is freeware, while 64-bit is sold at 29.95$, and more others where both versions are freeware for personal use and paid for professionals. And there i s also a portable version with the same confusion. Could you please clarify what is free, what is paid, and what' s the difference betwween various versions ?

Sean, from their website - "...free for personal, non-commercial use... Professional edition offers an ad-free 64-bit version and can be used in any organization or for commercial purposes." I'm not going to try to interpret what this exactly means, eg. can you get an ad-supported 64-bit version for free...?! I have the free 32-bit version, and it doesn't have ads but has a banner stating "Free edition cannot be used in organizations or for commercial purposes".

Does this have a player built in so we can mount and watch the iso?

Reply   |   Comment by Jeff  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

Jeff, no, it cannot mount iso files, only make, copy and burn them and extract files, so it's fairly limited in scope.

There is a free program called ANYBURN that does more than this.

phoe monroe, ImgBurn too.

Reply   |   Comment by Ant  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

phoe monroe,
I have used the free imgburn for a few years, and never had a problem. I think it is higher rated than anyburn.
A quick Google suggests choose carefully where you get it from.

Download Archive empty?????

Reply   |   Comment by Big Col  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+7)

Big Col, please note that due to the Themida wrapper usage your installation might be blocked by your antivirus (AVG, Avast or Kaspersky)!

This will result in no program installed on your PC even if your antivirus reports no files are blocked.
In order to install the program, you'll have to temporally disable your antivirus.

If you have Kaspersky antivirus, disable it and restart the computer.
Please make sure it won't start automatically with the computer.
Now please download the program archive once again and try to install it.

Alexa, it would have been helpful if you had told us about this before the download was launched.

Big Col,
The archive (i.e. zip) file does download successfully to my laptop using the Firefox browser, but the size of the file is zero ('0'). I tried several times and the content of the zip file was empty. But it worked fine when I switched to using Google Chrome for downloading it. The issue with the wrapper and its conflict with the anti-virus programs could happen later on in the process for some people, but it that was not the kind of problem I had.

DejaVu2, Thanks for that info. I still say the developer should have warned us of these problems before offering up the download. There are just too many problems with this bit of kit. Not going to try any further.

Reply   |   Comment by Malcolm  –  2 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+3)

Malcolm, please note that you might get this error (404) when you request the
program download link using one IP address and try to download the program using another one.
Do you use any VPN or have the dynamic IP address?

Alexa, Hi. I do noy use any VPN or have the dynamic IP address. I have tried to download both the PDF Fixer and the ISO Workshop applications on 3 different devices with different email addresses and I still get the 404 error message on everything. Please assist. Thanks

Get a message from firefox "This file is not commonly downloaded" may not be safe to open. May contain a virus

Admin User, , correct, Windows protects against downloading ANY programs and ANY program or ZIP file it has not already seen and inspected and passed, so WE have to make sure we're happy.

I save and then check any file at free VirusTotal, then I make up my own mind, because even Virus Total also has programs that say "infected", but with things like :PUP: that means POSSIBLY Unwanted Program and such, NOT necessarily an infection.

We da boss.
