How do you save images. Do you have to copy to clipboard then paste into another program ?

Richard Woodley, see my comment #3 or read this... the icon in bottom left corner of the window that has no tooltips is the save as icon, it allows you to specify the filetype by specifying the file extension I tried JPG and PNG types it might support other types but the compression is set to quality 100 on JPG and very poor zip compression for PNG. You don't HAVE to copy to clipboard but you can... not tested the copied data format if it's an uncompressed raster image including alpha layer or not... not worth the effort unless someone asks.

The software registers easily, which is nice, but when you go to use it, it requires downloading filter packs. I tried several and they all failed with a "you need the Internet" error, and I am connected. The issue appears to be their site. I can't get to it in Firefox, Opera, or Edge" "The connection for this site is not secure."

Without the filters, the program is unusable. Too bad, it looked like it would be useful.

David Bookbinder, could be your firewall blocking outbound internet connections, I was able to download additional filter packs with it. Try lowering your firewall profile to allow outbound connections by default.

TK, No other software I use requires me to mess with my firewall protections default in order to work properly, nor do the vendor sites keep coming up with insecure connection messages. There appears to be a problem with your certificates.

Reply   |   Comment by David Bookbinder  –  17 days ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (0)

David Bookbinder, Hi, your reply suggests the cause of the problem as there is nothing wrong with either the vendors site or the site it redirected to via a 301 error redirection even tested it on a vista machine with an ancient firefox based browser and the via a https requestor utility that use the systems ancient root certificates store and nothing reported security problems with the connections if there is a problem with your security certificates it would interfere with some browsers, and would block a program relying upon the systems certificate store for htttps certificate validation and it's not related to you firewall. I cannot help resolve this as you don't mention what version of windows you are using and what web browsers you have had problems with connecting to this vendors site. Different websites use different certificating authorities so could just be a matter of chance that have not experienced this with other sites, yet. You could also post what the certificate chain reports for you... and that can be compared with what others have... there are Certificate store malware attacks out there that can replace legitimate certificates with bogus ones to enable data harvesting attacks by setting up false websites and certificates... and redirecting your access to their bogus sites to harvest login details and other sensitive information.
This is not the best medium to resolve deep system problems like yours.

TK, That's interesting. I've tried current versions of Firefox, Edge, Opera, and the Epic privacy browser, and all fail to connect to this vendor's site with ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR errors. I'm on Win10 Pro and Win11 Pro and have the same issue on both computers, and on neither computer do I have a problem accessing other sites or software, nor am I being redirected to phishing or other bogus sites. It's hard to quantify this as a "deep system problem," since it seems to have affected my access only to this vendor's site and software so far, but it is mysterious.

TK, Thanks for bringing this issue to my attention.

David Bookbinder, ok, what's the common connection with the problem connection? ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR errors suggests it's not the computers as you've tried two different operating systems, on different filesystems with various browsers, while it is conceivable both systems on the same LAN could be infected with the same malware I'm more inclined to suspect the router or some common network configuration. One thing I believe you have not tried is smart phone access using the mobile data and not your LANs WiFi if that succeeds then try again using your LANs Wifi an not mobile data and if that fails you have the answer where the problem lies your router is in some way interfering with the SSL protocol or a system VPN or proxy... some part of your LANs infrastructure would be causing the problem. Don't worry you are not missing much, the program is in my opinion not very useful as one has to apply the selected filter to the entire image whether you want to or not unless you have a compatible 64bit editor and can select just the area to be filtered and pass that to the program as a 64bit Photoshop plug-in.

TK, Found it. When Chrome wouldn't support uBlock Origin, I briefly installed AdBlock desktop on my computers. It changed the DNS to its servers and they blocked the site. Fixed, though it took a couple of wasted hours to figure that out. Uninstalling should have reset the DNS but didn't.

Installed OK and downloaded the Bonus Filter Pack. Then you go on the hunt as what you're supposed to do with it.
To cut a long story short, once the program can 'see' the filter it error's with...
---------------------------
Erreur
---------------------------
Index de liste hors limites (0). TTreeView est vide.
---------------------------
All very well, but this is a very simplistic bug that should have been tested for and dealt with at code level. Not a great start. Other various errors pop here and there and everything is in French. I did not read French and am not prepared to keep using Google Translate to decipher these (too many) errors.
It looks like it could be developed into a useful program but it's too early for it to be in general release. I'll stick with Dynamic Auto Painter for the meantime.

What is the difference between "magelys Picture Lab" and "magelys Picture Styles" ? The vendors website does not make it clear what the difference is between the two products as both seem to include:

"Includes all Imagelys Filter Library
Includes all Brush Stroke Textures Packs
Lifetime access and updates
Email support included at no extra charge"

The only differences mentioned are the name, licensed number of devices and price point.

Ah right... this is NOT an editor but a 64bit ONLY filter application.... the way you open image files is you click on the folder icon in top right corner and it launches a file open browsing window with *.* as the file type filter so it shows all files not just the ones it can open... and if you try and open a file type it has not been programmed to decode it throws up an error box... it's not intuitive and requires a 64bit editor as the photoshop plugin file is a 64bit only plugin... It also misuses the users Documents folder by using it instead of the Users AppData\Roaming hierarchy to store the programs data files so if you have a backup set including all your Documents folder you will NEED to exclude the subfolder C:\Users\[WINDOWSLOGINNAME]\Documents\Imagelys MS and its contents from your backup set as that is just wasting backup resources backing up program data and not just your Documents. Jean Bernard is not quite the software building expert he claims to be. Some of the interface text is still French and not in the systems language, and in the About window it's called Freeware not the commercial version... Also current version is 9.5 on https://www.imagelys.com/downloads.php Is this the Lite or Studio edition? as there is a BIG difference in functionality between the two! https://www.imagelys.com/products.php
There is NO undo in the program either! It also does not seem to make full use of multi-core CPUs using just a single cores worth of CPU computing capability. And the program WILL EXIT without prompting you to save the changes you've just spent considerable time experimenting with! The giveaway license does NOT activate the downloadable version on imagelys.com website and the installer and program are NOT digitally signed and conflict with windows 10 or above ransomware/protected folder access and windows 11 default preference for only letting digitally signed programs to execute. There are no zoom controls and the image defaults to zoom to fit a bigger image to window so you cannot see details or how moderately large images will look in 1:1 zoom ratio.... Oh just found Save As.... the picture of a mountain icon in bottom left of the window, would be a sensible idea for Jean Bernard to learn how to implement "tool tips" for his non-standard user interface to make it a bit more intuitive. Oddly the program allows you to run multiple instances of it, no idea why it would but it does!

Thanks for the lifetime license and the easy to use registration key provided in the read me file!

Looks like a fun tool but one that will take some time to get proficient enough to get results I want with, so thanks again for the lifetime license!
